A Dead Man’s Tape

Middle East • Views: 2,611

Only audio tapes for a long, long time now. Why does Al Qaeda think it’s safe for Ayman al-Zawahri to appear on video but not the kingpin himself? Report: New bin Laden tape emerges.

(CNN) — A new audio tape allegedly from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden claims responsibility for an attempt to blow up a plane en route to Michigan on Christmas Day and warns the United States of more attacks.

The tape, which aired on the Arabic-language news Web site Al-Jazeera on Sunday, says “the United States will not dream of enjoying safety until we live it in reality in Palestine.”

The tape continues: “It is not fair to enjoy that kind of life while our brothers in Gaza live in the worst of miseries.” …

In another section of the audio tape that Al-Jazeera broadcast, the voice says: “God willing our attacks will continue as long as you support the Israelis and may peace be on those who follow guidance.”

Bin Laden also claims responsibility for the foiled attack on Delta flight 253 in December.

“The message intended to be sent to you was through the hero fighter Omar Farouq, may God release him, confirming an earlier message that the [September] 11th heroes delivered to you and it was repeated before and after [that event],” he says.

osama may be dead, but in the minds of the simpletons who revere him he will never die. osama may be worm food, but in a culture that worships death, he is an icon. but we should not be focused on osama anyway. khamenei and the mullahs are far more important targets. ridding the world of them is FAR more important than killing osama.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if you need dialysis, is there not a point that becomes ineffective and you MUST have a transplant? That is what my Boss's transplant surgeon told us. I dont think you can go on indefinitely with dialysis.

Dead man talking... again.

They're pretty good with the remix tapes.

So, if he is alive (and that's doubtful), it would really harsh the bellow of the jihadis to see Osama looking all decrepit in some video. Years of caving isn't going to do wonders for your complexion, or any preexisting conditions. Audio is all they have, and the message is pretty much the same - we're going to take credit for the attacks, we're promising more, and Israel is to blame for everything... these things almost write themselves.

I hope that five years ago, Bin Ladin was taking a shit, realized he didn't have any toilet paper, stood up and "penguin walked" over to the closet to get some and tripped over his undergarment on the way back and hit his head on the toilet and went face first and drowned face first in his own toilet water, urine, and feces.

Gosh. It felt good to write that.

101 keloyd  Sun, Jan 24, 2010 6:20:50pm

It will be fascinating to learn when OBL actually died, but it may be decades before the whole story comes to light. By then, if Charles is still examining the fonts of obscure CIA memo-gate documents in the year ~2050, it will be posted on Little Green Golfballs or Little Green Shuffle-board-puck-things (like LGF but in the distant future, and with larger print, and banner ads for Geritol and Buick.)

"For decades, the CIA had stopped looking for OBL because he was such an effective boogeyman for our foreign policy, plus the Chinese and Russians are too big to pick a real fight with. For decades, Al Queda kept honing their audio and photoshop skills with Iranian support. Finally, after the release of the Arabic remake, Boys From Brazil 2, electric boogaloo, bloggers with arithmetic skills discovered either OBL was 135 years old or dead. That same year, the mulitmillionaire great grandchildren of OBL and Dick Cheney will get married like in the end of that George Lazenby Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service. The more the guests drink, the more they entertained each other with spot-on impersonations of OBL."

You wait, it will turn out just that way.

Nope, my dog went down last week. I'm just an intrigued observer at this point. I know a rat when I see it, and there's a whole bunch of black and gold rats out there this week.

Brett Favre is playing with two broken legs and a punctured lung, and his running backs and receivers drop the ball when someone breaths on them. I would tell them to fuck off and walk off the field with my hot-ass wife if I were him

not being worthy of one's draft position and not being fit to be on the roster aren't the same thing, imho. i wonder what he'd bring in trade value, though...

Vikes are absolutely choking this game away.

Brett Farve does not choke...throwing it away from turnovers but nobodies choking...the Vikes have played their asses off

re: #212 Aceofwhat?

they're reviewing. if you juggle the ball while diving like that, do you lose forward progress?

Yes you do. Not sure why it was overturned, not sure why interference was called, and that last pass was certainly incomplete.

A trivia question that went around the bar tonight - when was the last time that two #1 seeds were in the superbowl?

294 Edward Halper  Mon, Jan 25, 2010 11:09:02am

This tape seems to me a bit of a departure from the usual. There isn't usually much mention of the Palestinians. Al-Qaeda may have figured out that that is what is going to play in the west.

295 Flavia  Mon, Jan 25, 2010 4:55:22pm

re: #37 Racer X

Even if by some miracle the Palestinians' dreams all came true tomorrow, and they were happier than unicorns in a field of whatever unicorns love to eat, these Islamo-radicals would find some other slight to hate America and the West over. The terror would continue.

Amen to this, of course - it's what all the pseudo-Liberal whacko fringe Jew-haters hope no one twigs to: terrorists hate everyone not them, not just Jews.

And your post brings me to the original point I wanted to make - that "Bin Laden" suddenly made so big a deal out of the "Palestinians" is just another clue that he's dead. The 9/11 "taking responsibility" tape barely mentioned them. Add to this the fact that it took them almost a month to come out with it....?

Much as I want to see him end like Saddam Hussein, I have to admit he's dead, & we should not waste any more precious anti-terrorism resources looking for him. In fact, I hope our government - which probably also suspects in places that he's dead - decides to just announce it & dismiss him. That'll really tick those illegitimate losers off!

Without question. The Palestinian issue is an issue of convenience for OBL and AQ and was barely on their radar before 9/11. They were much more concerned with issues relating to America in the gulf etc... The truth is that the focus on Israel suggests the other stuff isn't resonating as well with the Arab street. Israel always resonates well with the Arab street.
