GOP Rep: Blacks Worse Off Now Than Under Slavery (VIDEO)
Rep. Trent Franks, a Republican from Arizona, said on Friday that because of U.S. abortion policy, "far more of the African American community is being devastated by the policies of today than were being devastated by the policies of slavery."
Franks made the comments in an interview with video blogger Mike Stark of StarkReports.com.
Slavery, said Franks, "is a crushing mark on America's soul, yet today half of all black children are aborted. Half of all black children are aborted. Far more black children, far more of the African American community is being devastated by the policies of today than were being devastated by the policies of slavery."

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel " pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the promised land".
Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said, " Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the promised land".
Now Obama has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of camels, and mortgaged the promised land.
Last night I was so depressed from thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, Social Security, the bail-outs, corporate bonuses, retirement funds, etc . . . I called Lifeline, the suicide help line and got a call center in Pakistan ....
When I told them I was suicidal they all got excited and asked if I could fly a plane or drive a truck!

Palin: Obama Was ‘Arrogant’ to Criticize McCain
In an interview with Sean Hannity on his ABC News radio show, Sarah Palin chastised President Obama for telling Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), during the health care summit, “the campaign is over.”
“Todd and I both saw that,” said Palin, “and we both said, you know, how arrogant for our president to say that.” She called McCain “an American war hero who has sacrificed so much,” arguing that for him “to be dissed like that on national television did not speak well for our president’s character.”
It was about as soft an interview as these exchanges can be. “I like it when you say common-sense conservatism,” said Hannity. “That, to me, means Reagan conservatism.”

Well, I corrected myself later. It is true that black women have abortions at much higher rates than whites. But:
1. It's idiotic to call zygotes "children".
2. Miscarriage is very common-- between 25% and 40%-- so there's no way that half of all zygotes are aborted.
3. It is, as Charles noted, concern-trolling.
4. Having a high rate of abortions does not equal being worse than under slavery. I'd say not having your child stolen from you and sold to someone else-- your child that may have been a product of you being raped by your owner-- is rather worse.
5. Given that slave owners purposefully arranged for their slaves to have children (though they used rather more offensive language for it) and forced them to bear children, this is an especially odious thing for the man to say.

I wouldn't rule her out of the primaries. Republicans love her and she does have a shot. She'll never will a general election but she might get the nomination. I've heard that speculation, but don't put much credence in it. Michigan has gotten a distinctly cold shoulder from this Administration, and Jenny has been snubbed on several occasions. Despite the pundits batting her name around, it didn't seem as thought the Administration even knew who she was.
And perhaps not so terrible even if it came true. She's distinguished herself as Governor by displaying an utter lack of leadership and initiative, preferring to hide in hopes that a consensus will emerge, even when one never will. She'd wind up simply voting with the majority on the court. Making actual decisions seems to terrify her. Not clearly Conservative. Not clearly Liberal. Clearly not anything.

What was the vote (62 million - 59 milloin) electoral college vote (286-251) margin between Kerry and Bush

No. I also wouldn't tell her she was better off under slavery, if she was black.
The language he was using was intentionally provocative and misleading.

2,190,000 if you only give Bush credit for 3k (not 4k) per day, over 8 years. I didn't count leap years. I'm also giving Bush credit for his overwhelmingly successful abstinence education. (coughs)
(That "unborn babies" schtick is so old it's vaudevillian.)

Sorry, I was thinking last election, if Obama had tapped him. Edwards' personal POTUS campaign was less than luminous, as we know.

Fact-checking is held in esteem here.
That guy - Wez - he was a genuinely scary character in that flick. The Lord Humongous - well, he was very interesting - an articulate, intelligent, and charismatic leader of a band of maniacs.
I think, if I ever had to be a Mad Max bad-guy, I'd want to be Lord Humongous, or else The Collector, from Beyond Thunderdome.

From the ARticle:
Lord Humungus' speech covers several important economic topics, relevant even today.
1. Peak oil theory
2. Fighting for limited natural resources
3. Offering "just walk away" to people who have chosen a bad real estate location (ie high crime, desert, no public library, no rule of law etc...)
Ron Paul speech covers several important topics:
1. Rule of law
2. Obeying the Constitution and the Rule of Law
3. “Just come home” to those who have been caught up in the Iraq occupation

Just google
Equal parts amusing/depressing.
Half of the references seem serious. That really ticks me off since Joan of Arc (and Sophie Scholl) are very high in my pantheon. Only a little Leonard Cohen can restore the calm.

Same here. I am astounded that Palin and the Maid of Orleans can be mentioned in the same sentence.

Charles -
Marco Rubio is likely to win the FL Senatorial Primary and be the Next US Senator from FL. Would he had allowed Gov. Christ to run unopposed and become FL's Next Governor.
It is my belief that the Next Governor of FL in a First or Second Term will be dealing with the repercussions of a Castro-Free CUBA.
Believe to this day that Marco, CUBA and the New Cuban Refugees to Come would be better served with Marco in Tallahassee rather than DC. Discussion?
