Video: Breitbart Admits O’Keefe Didn’t Dress As a Pimp

Politics • Views: 3,669

In an interview with blogger Mike Stark (posted at Crooks and Liars, Brad Blog, and Stark Reports), Andrew Breitbart admits that when he released the James O’Keefe-Hannah Giles undercover ACORN sting videos, he “did not know” that O’Keefe never wore his outrageous pimp costume into an ACORN office — even though it was reported that way by many media outlets, including Fox News and the New York Times.

Here’s the interview, featuring some weird behavior by a visibly enraged Breitbart.

Breitbart obviously took the wrong lesson from Donald Segretti's dirty tricks.

Well, thank God that was cleared up. I kept seeing the damn outfits, and I could not figure out what was going on with that.

The only thing I could think of is because by and large the British are tea totalers, being "coffee nosed" is a put down

and
B) why does that = snob!?!?

19 dugmartsch  Tue, Mar 2, 2010 10:58:47am

Ok. I tried to watch because I have the day off and it would have delayed the housework I need to do by a good ten minutes.

I got like 2 minutes in, I think. He started talking about being held to a higher standard and because of that posting the full audio and the transcripts from the video to his website.

Right. Never ever does any news org post transcripts of its interviews to its website, or anything similar.

If you were holding yourself to a higher standard and you were embracing the tenets of 'new media' you would post the entire, unedited video online as a resource for everyone to scour for potential undiscovered wrongdoing. Crowd source to help you figure out just how many laws ACORN broke. You didn't do that. You are new media. You are hiding something.

20 wrenchwench  Tue, Mar 2, 2010 10:59:06am

There sure is a lot of video from CPAC with Breitbart going nuts. I guess he was under a lot of stress.

The Brad Blog gives the Paper of Record some serious and needed criticism:

Friedman spent scores of hours trying to save the New York Times from itself, proving every which way to Sunday that Breitbart and O'Keefe were dishonest hucksters. For all his efforts, Brad asked only for a correction. He asked only that the "paper of record" report accurately. But when Hoyt and the Times finally ran out of excuses and could no longer conjure remotely plausible counterclaims to Friedman's systematic presentation of hard evidence, the paper declared everyone tainted somehow (except themselves of course) and walked away from the table.

25 shiplord kirel  Tue, Mar 2, 2010 11:00:53am

Like RSM, Breitbart probably resents being called crazy. So what does he do? He goes out and confronts a known critic who is guaranteed to portray him in the least favorable light, then goes out of his way to act like a complete drooling nutburger.
Isn't this guy supposed to be some kind of media maven?

This is from an article about something unrelated, but I guess every article at Big Government is about Andrew Breitbart now:

When Liberal ‘Journalists’ Attack, Real Americans Suffer

[...]

When the going gets tough, the Liberals all pull together on behalf of their team, but conservatives too often pull apart. It’s time we took care of our own – especially when it comes to the life and business-destroying, “just-the-fiction-ma’am” assassinations the Left so revels in and so thinly veils as “journalism.”

So how do we do that? How do we begin to take care of our own? We begin by calling these people out and exposing their lies just as Andrew Breitbart did with Max Blumenthal at CPAC. Simply put, we no longer roll over. We set the record straight and we commit right now to back each other up every time a Liberal journalist attacks. Believe me, Barrett Moore wasn’t the first and he definitely won’t be the last, but working together we will dull the impact of these attacks and eventually drown them out all together.

If you consider yourself a conservative, you are being recruited to back up Breitbart. He's under attack.

Well, if they believe that ACORN is damaging America, I guess they should call the people who have most effectively damaged the Klan--the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Of course, I believe the SPLC has sued the Klan on behalf of people who've been beaten, attacked, had their livelihoods taken away, their churches burned...

So, it should be no problem to find some people whose lives have been similarly damaged by ACORN. Besides Mr. Breitbart. And sue their asses.

That's the problem with the current state of our news now a days. It's entertainment first, maybe trustful information second.

It is evident that they had plain, simple verifiable information coming from the mouth of Breitbart in that video footage. Breitbart does a clear job of hanging himself.

Having the video of Breitbart edited to highlight his histrionics only brings the reporting organization down to the same level as a tabloid.

I don't want to have to wade through the stupid to get to the information.

While I agree that Moore is also a pusher of propaganda, there methods are quite different. Moore presents his films as entertainment not as straight news. He is a filmmaker with a definite point of view. I don't think he has ever claimed to be a so called "journalist".

Perhaps, although his films end up in the documentary category and that nudges the naive into believing they are fact based.

"The Fifth Element" doesn't have a point of view, a moral, a deep message for all of us. It is probably close to my most favorite movie. And it has a very introspective message for all of us.

Breaking - after hearing the arguments (i don't think the transcripts are up yet), the folks at Scotusblog think that the SCOTUS is likely to extend the 2nd Amendment (in part, at least).

Funny excerpt:

The first argument to collapse as the hearing unfolded was the plea by the lawyer for gun rights advocates, Alan Gura of Alexandria, VA, that the Court should “incorporate” the Second Amendment into the 14th Amendment through the “privileges or immunities” clause. In the first comment from the bench after Gura had barely opened, Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., noted that the Court had essentially scuttled that argument with its ruling in the SlaughterHouse Cases in 1873. And within a few minutes, Justice Antonin Scalia — the author of the Heller opinion and the Court’s most fervent gun enthusiast — was sarcastically dismissing the “privileges or immunities” argument.

“Why,” Scalia asked Gura, “are you asking us to overrule 140 years of prior law….unless you are bucking for a place on some law school faculty.” The Justice said the “privileges or immunities” argument was “the darling of the professorate” but wondered why Gura would “undertake that burden.”

Scalia makes me laugh.

Do they prohibit home schooling or do they require a kid to go to a real school? Those are two different things, aren't they? The parents could teach their child whatever they want once he or she comes home, and I would doubt that the state forbids that.

There's lots of farting in the Canterbury tales. The Friar's tale has it too.

At the close of this sermon, the friar asked Thomas for money to build the brothers’ cloister. Thomas, annoyed by the friar's hypocrisy, told the friar that he had a gift for him that he was sitting on, but that he would only receive it if he promised to split it up equally between each of the friars.

The friar readily agreed, and put his hand down behind Thomas’ back, groping round – and Thomas let out a fart louder than a horse could make. The friar became immediately angry, and promised to repay Thomas for his fart, but, before he could, the servants of the house chased the friar out.

Seriously, if these folks want to home-school bad enough to come to the U.S. fine. But the fact that this is considered an asylum case, when people I know have fought so hard and sometimes lost to persuade courts that, say, being gay in Ukraine should give you a 'well-founded fear of persecution'...it seems kind of frivolous, to be honest.
