Meh. Colbert is clever, but his act doesn't really do much for me.

I like him OK. His interview with Orly Taitz was brilliant, in my opinion.

But it isn't always that good, the same schtick over and over gets tiring. Here, a couple times, he drifts into cheap, direct personal insults; something a bit more highbrow would have been more in keeping with the Colbert character.

No talk show host does. I watch O'Reilly regularly, but mostly because he's right of center but not insane. Yes, he's loudmouth egocentrist, but he's not off the deep end like so much of the right.

Yes these days its like Bill O'Reilly has become the Edith Bunker of Fox News....

And doesn't that summon up all kinds of horrible mental images?

8 SixDegrees  Fri, Mar 5, 2010 12:36:23pm

Weird. It's a bright, sunny day, but it's only 40F outside. Yet a small cloud of gnats is cavorting outside my window. If they drift into the shade, they'll probably fall out of the sky like tiny rocks.

It has gotten to the point where I just can't stand most news and opinion shows.
They lie or only do one side or let guests lie without pointing out that they are just wrong.
And I mean on both side.
Olberman, Ed and Tweety are just as bad as Bill O' and what passes for news on FOX. Except for Shep...he's pretty darn good.
And I watch Rachel Maddow and even then she has a habit of getting worked up over things.

I respectfully beg to differ:

Bill O'Reilly called George Tiller "a baby killer" without attribution

These instances and others we reviewed clearly show that O'Reilly was not reporting the views of others, but was expressing his own views on the doctor. O'Reilly said in his column that "Some prolifers branded" Tiller a baby killer, "and I reported it," as if he were reporting the views of others. But the transcripts show O'Reilly repeatedly referred to Tiller as a baby killer without attribution. So we find his statement that liberal groups are targeting him for his reporting of what others said to be False.

O'Reilly disgusts me on so many levels I'd be here all day if I had to list them.

The Colbert Report is not a news or opinion show. It's comedy. I guess you just don't think he's very funny.

Hey Rogue! Yeah, the first time I heard of it was from my brother-in-law. Decided I'd skip it based on what he said. Guess that's why I found Stewart's bit funny - especially the Katie Couric and Brian William's stuff.

248 miles, 3 hours 49 minutes. Listened to an entire moe. show from June 2004 at the Fillmore in SF (even got a shout out from the band because I was running the voter registration table at that show). It's nice when one concert will take you from ocean to mountains.

I actually read it the same way at first and had to do a double-take. Reminds me of what one of my bosses used to say..."Do you believe the hand is quicker than the eye?" Well, we're getting a better idea of who McCain's base is. Dead people. Well, those who support his campaign against DADT, anyway. And some of the retired generals are claiming they were never asked to be included on his list.

– Multiple generals said they “never agreed” to sign the letter in the first place, writing “I never agreed. To represent either side of this issue” and “I do not remember being asked about this issue.”

In Gates' presentation, I especially liked the image at 14:52. Paducah, KY looks like a wonderful place to live.

I certainly hope someone does come up with an idea of how to dispose of this mess before it starts leaking and working its way into the water-table - as is already happening in several areas of France - not to mention San Bernadino Country and....the former URSS.

None of the media talking heads offer the perspective or opportunity to grow as do the Lizards that bask in the LGF sunshine. And when it comes to humor, there is no better place to shake the blahs than right here. Thanks for making my world a better place.

Upding, and I want to believe everything you wrote, and often feel I could write the words myself. I especially like the mix of opinions, though where I hold back with the unabashed praise is when things take a dark turn and it gets hard to shake the ill mood stirred up. We can all do a better job of mixing it up in a good way without so much partisan polarization.

Not meaning to rain on any parade, but still wanting to say what I said.
