The lifetime supply of slightly ripe raw chicken peices had nothing to do with Rex becoming a point gaurd for Kentucky. They just happened to be already left over from the student center cafeteria...
The whole system makes me sick. We value professional sports too much in this country.
Colleges invest so much money into their athletic programs in order to get endorsements. It comes as no surprise to me that integrity is thrown out the window in order to get those special players. College just becomes the stepping stone for the professional leagues. The NCAA should have more stringent rules about the conditions under which a student plays for a team. As a starting point, they should sign a contract guaranteeing they stay long enough to get their degree.
The "sports" themed thread is always appreciated, Charles.
This one wasn't quite up the Onion's standards. If you want to see sheer brilliance, watch the Onion video on the Clippers and the Staples Center roof collapse. The humor reflected deep knowledge of what a joke the Clippers' franchise is/was. And that made it much funnier.
The person who stands up and says, "This is stupid," either is asked to 'behave' or, worse, is greeted with a cheerful "Yes, we know! Isn't it terrific!"
