FBI Raids Michigan Militia Group

Wingnuts • Views: 14,772

A “small army” of FBI and DHS agents descended on Michigan’s Lenawee County yesterday, in an apparent crackdown on militia activity in the area:

ADRIAN, Mich. (WXYZ) - The FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and the Joint Terrorism Task Force are all involved in raids around Adrian that may be connected to a militia group.

The FBI conducted multiple raids throughout Saturday and into Sunday, with one of them centered on a property where known members of a militia live. The land is owned by a man who lives in a house on the property. His sons live in two mobile homes that are also on the property. Saturday’s raids were concentrated on those mobile homes. …

Federal agents will not comment on the investigation, only saying that they are serving a number of search warrants and that the warrants are sealed. Action News has learned that an unknown number of arrests have also been made. An unconfirmed report indicated that at least six people were arrested coming into Michigan from Ohio.

Members of a number of militia groups say that the raids are connected to raids in Indiana and Ohio. However, the FBI has not confirmed that.

LGF reader “Decatur Deb” points out this website (Google cache link), which may be connected to the group:

The home page includes a training video with a godawful metal music soundtrack, and this photo:

Their YouTube channel is also still active as I write this.

The Michigan Militia has been here forever. You can drive by their compounds and see countless semi trailers on the property probably holding their "supplies".

FreeRepublic: FBI Raids in Mi. In, Oh

Has anyone heard about FBI raids conducted last night in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Warrants are sealed so no public information is yet available. Rumor is the raids are related to last weeks DC anti health control rally.

.....

Since the FBI is now Eric Holder's personal goon squad, anything is possible.

....

Wow. It begins now. Rounding up those who even think about opposing the machine.
This isnt America anymore.

I find this statement to be interesting...

For we live by faith and cannot see nor understand what we believe, entirely, but nevertheless the reward is worth it in the end.

It's a bastardization of Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Either these folk have really poor comprehension skills, or else they are being deliberately obtuse. Their exegesis on this passage enables them to claim just about any "revelation" that their leaders need to foster on the membership, at any given time, for any newly contrived purpose.

Someone(s) know what they are doing, but I suspect there the general "membership" are like sheep.

One of the more interesting "spins" I ever seen on this verse.

The article mentions "An unconfirmed report indicated that at least six people were arrested coming into Michigan from Ohio." Possibly something to do with moving weapons across state lines.

On a side note, how many groups of this type exist in the United States, anyway? I'm curious how many people there are involved with militia-styled groups in the country.

I was going through the Fort Walton Beach Tea Party's Flickr photostream to see if they had anything interesting from yesterday's "Showdown in Searchlight" Tea Party event. What I found instead were photos they posted, along with their outdoor Searchlight photos, that depict some sort of indoor venue where they set up a booth. There's also tables of guns and knives being sold, so perhaps it was some sort of nearby gun show?

Here's some pretty ugly Tea Party bumper stickers being sold at that same venue:

Probably not something as simple as selling pipebombs. Those arrests could be made by local police. Sounds like a big operation with a lot of arrests. Could be terrorism or weapons charges. A lot of these groups also sell drugs to finance their operations so it could be that too.

I know some evangelist folks. Pentecostal, speak in tongues and all that. One co-worker and I used to talk Bible. Rather she'd talk New Testament and I'd talk Torah which had similar themes but are often different when you get to the meat. At any rate, surprisingly, we both seemed to enjoy the discussion and it went along very amiably until she started telling me about a friend of hers who converted to Islam. Then she stopped talking religion to me. Maybe a coincidence, but I always wondered what her friend said to her.

I could just add them to a group that captures all their posts and I read them when I want and reply to the proper thread...

I'm sorry to hear that. I read the Koran on my last trip to the Persian Gulf, 1995. There are contradictions in the Bible, but that Koran had me totally bumfuzzled.

My friend's friend married a Moroccan fellow. The whole thing smelled fishy to me when I got a few details. P.S. they ended up divorcing. I always assumed she was listening to anti-Semitic rhetoric.

Really? Now the Christians are the enemy? Wow! It looks like the liberals’s war of words has escalated into a real war targeting Christians.

People really need to learn the difference between correlation and causation.

The government targets illegal militias. A large number of militia are Christian. This does not mean that the government targets Christians.

I think this is a very good point.

With the mainstreaming of a lot of crazy rhetoric, people who have historically been shunned as extremist now see themselves as vindicated. I believe they'd be more likely to take action because they feel they have public support now, almost like a form of peer pressure. They're just more likely to pull something when they have more backers.

But here's the deal, Feds. If you kill anyone or burn somebody's house or church down with them inside, you will have started a civil war, no matter how despicable the Hutaree are, or how crazy, or how provocative. If that happens, there will be NOTHING responsible leaders of the constitutional militia movement will be able to do from our side to stop it. You will have crossed the Rubicon.

The Hutaree have indicated in the past that, much like John Brown, they WANTED to start a civil war, which is why no responsible militia group in Michigan was willing to ally with them.

A few details are leaking out....
Seven arrested in FBI raids linked to Christian militia group

Sources have said the FBI was in the second day of raids around the southeastern Michigan city of Adrian that are connected to a militia group, known as the Hutaree, an Adrian-based group whose members describe themselves as Christian soldiers who are preparing for the arrival and battle with the anti-Christ.
...
Lackomar said he heard from other militia members that the FBI targeted the Hutaree after its members made threats of violence against Islamic organizations.
...
One of the Hutaree members called the Michigan militia for assistance Saturday after federal agents had already began their raid, Lackomar said, but the militia member -- who was of Islamic decent and had heard about the threats -- declined to offer help.

"They are more of survivalist group and in an emergency they withdraw and stand their ground. They are actively training to be alongside Jesus," he said.

That works very well in Dallas. We have a decent size Chinese and Korean minority here and lots of Asian restaurants. If the waitress hardly speaks English and the customers are all on the same team as where the food came from (also if the soft drinks come in cans, not the fountain, not a big deal but it works as a proxy variable) - EXCELLENT.

If it's all white yuppies - youre getting salty glazey tasteless chunks of crap.

i love kimchi. anyone in the dc metro area that doesn't like or feel comfortable in korean restaurants, should try h mart or super h mart. they are very friendly. they have prepared food, semi-prepared, and a huge grocery store of korean delights. the produce and seafood sections are great. the kimchi section has every kind of kimchi imaginable and the prices are reasonable.

Kimchi is good stuff, but it is not meant to be eaten alone, but added to soup or salad and the like, or as a marinade... let a London Broil sit in it overnight.

GOD BLESSED TEXAS
-----------------
By Little Texas

A
I've seen a lot of places

I've been around the world
E
I've seen some pretty faces
A
Been with some beautiful girls

After all I've witnessed

One thing still amazes me
E A
Just like a miracle, you have to see to believe

D
CHO.... 'Cause God blessed Texas

With his own hand
A
Brought down angels from the promised land
D
He gave 'em a place where they could dance
A
If you want to see Heaven, brother, here's your chance
E A(STOP)
I've been sent to spread the message

God blessed Texas

A
First he let the sun shine

Then He made the waters deep
E
Then He gave us moonlight
A
For all the world to see

Well everybody knows that the Lord works in mysterious ways
E A
He took a rest then on the very next day

FreeRepublic:

Wow, their conspiracy addled brains are really churning at this news. More Freeper hysteria:

Oh great-- Waco again.

Tie these raid with the Tea Party, declare it a terrorist organization, disenfranchise all supporters, and, bingo, you have eternal power.

So, it begins.

These groups should just call themselves New Black Panther Party...and the Feds will go away
Obama is a racist....he only goes after white people

The obamawar against fedgov hating white man begins.

This kind of think is why I have little confidence the military will come out patriots after all this is done.

Will need to keep a sharp eye on this. Maybe some isolated situation, but if turns out to be only a start then it could very well be the beginning.

Is this a warm up for the new totalitarian government that will control us?

In STUPAK’s Michigan? I am not surprised. This is a move to appease Stupak for selling his soul.

“Wouldn’t it be prudent for Obama to destablize everything before the 2010 elections?”
Yes — confirmed — CHRISTIAN militia groups.

Can’t have Armed White People in the New South Africa can we?

Contrast this raid with the TEA party movement. The Liberals haven’t been able to muzzle us because we don’t have any leaders, and no centeralized location.
If revolution ever comes, it’s going to have to spring spontaniously just as the TEA parties did.
The Government isn’t going to be able to raid 10 million places at once.

He’s a busy little demon-possessed Kenyan isn’t he?

I smell large B.S.. Nobody sells pipe bombs. We are seeing the beginning of Jack Booted thugs once again.
I well remember the "reports" of illegal activities by Branch Davidians - in the Sunday morning papers on the Janet Reno's jack-booted thugs stormed the Davidian compound with guns drawn.
Sounds like a familiar tactic.

posse comitatus cometh

Recall Bill Clinton sent Elian Gonzalez back to Cuba on Holy Saturday.

Clinton also bombed the asprin factory during Saint Stephen’s Feast.

I don’t assume anything bad about Christian militias, any more than I assume anything good from 0. I’m sure there will be a nice long list of lies about them, just like there were about the Branch Davidian Church — slanders out the wazoo.

It just got real

Violence is preached in mosques in major cities throughout the USA and the alphabet agencies go after a Christian militia?

No wonder they were raided. Attending a funeral you say? A Christian funeral at that.

Way to go FBI! Let's not target al-qaeda members living in the United States, no .. can't do that, it wouldn't be politically correct. Rather, let's go after so-called "militia" members and make up a story that they were targeting islamic groups.

Yes, at the Christian funeral, they were probably praying. Muslims hate that.

So now, with the explosive growth of Muslim communities in that state, Michigan now has “legitimate” militias whose members are Muslim. This sounds more and more like a holy war. And Kind Herod is back on his throne.

I love how they can't help stressing that it was a christian militia. //

ZOMFG! They're "training" to fight UN Blue Helmets!

ROFLMAO! The UN couldn't capture an abandoned village in Lebanon without the direct aid of God Himself.

Get real, boys.

What pisses me off about those statements is the fact that at the root, it's slandering our soldiers.

The UN DOESN'T have its own standing army. It's a force made up of soldiers from member nations, like the US and her allies. Those troops that can't "capture an abandoned village in Lebanon" sure seem to be doing a heck of a lot better in Afghanistan.

Granted, the rules of engagement for UN troops are really fracking stupid, but that's not the fault of the troops and actually causes a lot of psychological damage to them.

Well, guess what, there is nothing even conceptually theocratic about Texas. You are using hyperbole and making broad brushed accusations when there is not a single government in this country that fits the definition of a theocracy, conceptually or otherwise.

Sorry, you just look foolish trying to make this defination... " theocracy is a form of government in which divine power governs an earthly human state, either in a personal incarnation or, more often, via religious institutional representatives (i.e., a church), replacing or dominating civil government.[3] Theocratic governments enact theonomic laws..." fit any governing body in this country.

2. We're jealous we didn't come up with the idea of putting a fried egg on top of any random thing.
3. Koreans don't seem to make the effort, as a whole. Many Chinese restaurants actively cater to the locals. I had Indian friends in grad school tell me how Indo-Chinese restaurants were nothing like the big Chinese buffets here in the US. Korean restaurants appear to only be in Korean areas and market to ethnic Koreans, though they don't mind the occasional long nosed devil coming in and spending money and squinting to read the tiny English print under the Korean on the menus.

The activists sang songs, poured cow's blood over themselves, chained their wrists to the courthouse fence, and calmly awaited their impending martyrdom. The local police declined to take the bait, and after a few hours the protesters unlocked themselves and left.

Kids in Texas public schools will no longer be taught about one of the greatest political philosophers in American history, Thomas Jefferson. That’s right. They removed Thomas Jefferson from the curriculum — replacing him with religious right icon John Calvin. There’s no mystery about why they did this, either; among the founding fathers, Jefferson was one of the strongest advocates for the separation of church and state, and that’s exactly what these cretins are trying to reverse.

Maybe not theocracy in it's purest form but this has definite leanings.

My parents lived in Hawaii for ~3 years, and they had had very sheltered, Southern, Leave-it-to-Beaver lives before that. (I was born in Mombassa Hawaii and was there the last half year.)The kimchi that was sitting loose in bowls at bars where we would have pretzels was too scary by half for either of them. To this day they will not eat a piece of cheese that was in my fridge next to a big jar of kimchi.

It's a little off color, but my dad still occasionally says "your're in deep kimchi" meaning you're in deep trouble/sh!t. It's the most off putting thing to be deep in, if you don't like it, and have never been around Scandinavian food.

Making kimchi. Notice their gloves, to keep from scalding their hands with the hot pepper paste.

Speaking from bitter experience, the hot peppers won't bother your hands at all, even with prolonged exposure. The problem with not wearing gloves arises when, after working with peppers, you wipe your eyes, pick your nose or or go to the bathroom and transfer the oils to other, more sensitive parts of your anatomy.

I dont see the huge difference i got thrashed for.

Let's try it this way:

----cracy means a form of government. It doesn't mean anything about the actual people in the offices. If we elected aliens, it would still be a representative republic, not an alienaocracy. Electing squid would not make it a fishocracy.

A theocracy is about the form of government.

The difference is that Dominionists, with the exception of the Christian Reconstruction whackjobs, still want to operate within the basic confines that we have set up in this country with the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

In a theocracy, religious laws are codified into the national constitution, such as when an Islamic country adopts Sharia law. For any part of the U.S. to resemble a theocracy, all of the restrictions in the Bible would have to be made law. Gays would have to be killed, mixed fibers would be outlawed, etc.

so fulfilling the first paragraph of the definition of dominionism with legislation is not promoting theocracy?

It would have to be a hell of a lot more than just legislation. We'd have to completely re-write the Constitution to reflect religious law, and the entire structure of government would have to change from a secular one to a religious one.

Basically, we'd have to give up the country we have and willingly become Iran or Afghanistan for the U.S. to ever become a theocracy.

323 keloyd  Sun, Mar 28, 2010 2:54:33pm

If the Presbyterian General Assembly or Papist Roman Catholic College of Cardinals makes the laws as if they're the government - that's theocracy.

If angry, frustrated Muslims vote in Hamas, that's sort of dominionist but also democratic. The institutions are secular, though the votes of the populace need not be.

The overall point of my original post that started this was that with our knowledge of Christianity and our knowledge of anti terrorism/insurgent/radicalization techniques we should be able to combat too much of this, admittedly after snide comments. Instead, we argue about the definition of theocracy, which i had wrong.

This stuff goes back a long way. Some 50 years ago, at the end of an Army Reserve weekly drill, some guy gathered the troops together and delivered a "militia" recruiting speech. No takers. He went away and we never saw him again.

re: #270 ~Fianna

What pisses me off about those statements is the fact that at the root, it's slandering our soldiers.

The UN DOESN'T have its own standing army. It's a force made up of soldiers from member nations, like the US and her allies. Those troops that can't "capture an abandoned village in Lebanon" sure seem to be doing a heck of a lot better in Afghanistan.

Granted, the rules of engagement for UN troops are really fracking stupid, but that's not the fault of the troops and actually causes a lot of psychological damage to them.

The UN has no troops in Afghanistan. That would be NATO you're thinking of.

I wouldn't label that as metal music. It's godawful '80s perhaps.

re: #331 wiffersnapper

It's mid-80's goth. That's the song "Marian" by The Sisters of Mercy:

In a sea of faces, in a sea of doubt
In this cruel place, your voice above the maelstrom
In the wake of this ship of fools, I'm falling further down
If you can see me Marian, reach out and take me home

I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the wave
I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to?
Save me, save me, save me from the grave
Marian

Marian, there's a weight above me
And the pressure is all too strong
To breathe deep breathe long and hard
To take the water down and go to sleep
To sink still further, beneath the fatal wave
Marian I think, I'm drowning, this sea is killing me

I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the wave
I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to?
Save me, save me, save me from the grave

Was ich kann und was ich konnte?
Weiss ich gar nicht mehr
Gib mir wieder etwas sch'nes
Zieh mich aus dem meer
Ich h're dich rufen, Marian
Kannst du mich schreien h'ren
Ich bin hier allein
Ich h're dich rufen, Marian
Ohne deine hilfe verliere ich mich in diessem ort

I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the wave
I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to?
Save me, save me, save me from the grave

Marian

The band is named after that Leonard Cohen song and count him as an influence, but the music that these militia guys used definitely wasn't LC.

It's also a cheesy, melodramatic song, as a lot of Goth tends to be. Reading those lyrics makes me laugh. I'd wager most of the guys in that photo weren't even born when the song came out in 1985, or they were in diapers at the time. Why they'd choose it is beyond me.
