Victoria Jackson: ‘I Am the Tea Party People’

Media • Views: 7,687

A classic Fox News moment, as SNL alumni Victoria Jackson puts the “nutjob” in right wing nutjob. Steve Doocy brings her on to demonstrate that tea partiers aren’t extremists, but it doesn’t quite work out as planned.

“I AM the tea party people,” says Jackson, and “The President’s a Communist.”

So we have one with the Tea Partiers, and Al Franken as Senator…

What next, President Chris Kattan?

Someone like Jackson must wear targets on her shoes, because she’s forever shooting herself in the foot. Let’s hear from a better-quality SNL Alumnus, him and Paul Simon:

Great skit by Fox. Steve Doocy playing the role of the news journalist and Victoria Jackson as the bubble headed Tea Partier. Doocy grabs the laughter with his dead pan responses of “he is not a Communist” and later saying about Glenn Beck “that must have been his [Glenn Beck’s] word of the day.”

Working with this talent is wardrobe and make-up that provides a humorous prop for Victoria Jackson. The overal atmosphere reminds us of other Big Hollywood comedic teams such as Abbott and Costello or Lewis and Martin…

Wait a minute. That was a skit right?

Here is one of the Jokes Joe Biden told on St Patrick’s day:

We all know that St Patrick cleansed the Isle of snakes, right? Actually, since Ireland is an island, there were no snakes in the first place. But it’s a good story, and we repeat it although we all know it’s not true. That, my children, is why St. Patrick is the patron saint of Fox News.

I don’t envy actors. Everything about their lives brings on the crazy. Imagine having a work schedule where you make an obscene pile of money, working obscene hours, then have months or years of nothin. You never have security, but you occasionally have lots of cash + spare time. Cash + spare time = temptation. Idleness is difficult to handle in a healthy manner. No job security is a drag on the mental health. Then you’re a drama person to start with, so there’s a chicken and egg thing.

No job security is a drag on the mental health. Then you’re a drama person to start with, so there’s a chicken and egg thing.

You’re leaving out:
* Every single aspect of your life is fodder for 8 million bottom-feeding celebrity gossip magazines / websites. Did your spouse fuck the babysitter? People in China knew about it before you did, and might even have seen pictures. Did you gain 4 lbs since the last time you were spotted in public? Great, now paparazzi photos of your OUT-OF-CONTROL BLOAT are now on every supermarket tabloid. God forbid you should be photographed sticking a spoon in your mouth.

* Attention and prase, and even adoration is one thing, but obsession is something else entirely. Crazy people send you letters. Gifts. Videotapes. They come to your door. If you’re very unlucky, sometimes they even get inside your house. Maybe they kill you. You’re something other than human to them.

* You grow to distrust everyone, Naturally, you gravitate towards others who can relate to your plight. Unintentionally, this results in an insular, socially incestuous tribal society. Or, you withdraw even from that and become a recluse.

And….

It got worse, a lot worse. I won’t read the rest of it to you. But
trust me, the room was a sea of shocked, frozen, blanched faces. The
Time/Warner executives squirmed in their chairs and stared at their
shoes. They hated me for that. Then I delivered another volley of sick
lyric brimming with racist filth, where Ice-T fantasizes about
sodomizing two 12-year old nieces of Al and Tipper Gore. “SHE PUSHED
HER BUTT AGAINST MY ….”

Well, I won’t do to you here what I did to them. Let’s just say I left
the room in echoing silence. When I read the lyrics to the waiting
press corps, one of them said “We can’t print that.” “I know,” I
replied, “but Time/Warner Ìs selling it.”

Two months later, Time/Warner terminated Ice-T’s contract. I’ll never
be offered another film by Warners, or get a good review from Time
magazine. But disobedience means you must be willing to act, not just
talk.

It’s not the professors’ Constitution, it’s the people’s Constitution. So many intellectuals blather on about the Constitution as “a living document”. That’s because they intend to torture it into saying whatever the hell they want it to say.

As opposed to the uneducated or barely educated who haven’t read the thing and don’t care to read it because they get all the information about it from their drunken neighbour who once got a tour of the National Archives.

This idea that because you are not an intellectual you have a better grasp of the ‘essence’ of the Constitution than an intellectual who spent time and effort trying to understand it is foolish. Anti-intellectualism is not a virtue, nor does it give any advantage in understanding.

This is a private thing that’s getting noticed this year. I realize that a bunch of mostly Christians aren’t going to be doing an official Seder. OTOH, going to similar events to theirs, I learned more about my own faith than from many other things. If thinking about why this night is different from all others is good for one group, then why isn’t it good for another, if done with respect?

The big one:

I AM THE TEA PARTY!

Victoria Jackson is playing us.

Maybe, but she’s been in character for over two years on this, and I don’t think she’s that good a comic.

As for “Glenn Beck taught me well”, that sounds like parody to us; but to millions of Americans it’s straight up honesty. Is Vic Jackson really too sophisticated and smart to be one of those millions?

Tu quoque and deflective. Tu quoque means “You also”. Deflective indicates, along with with Tu Quoque, that you are accusing me of saying “They do it to!” Nice. Is that really what this was? I don’t think so. Here’s my post. Attack the specifics:

re: #181 austin_blue

The Supreme Court (Strict Constructionist!) has certainly done that recently, eh?

Corporations are people! (So is Soylent Green, according to Harry Harrison and Charlton Heston.)

Prior to Citizens United, only certain corporations and non-profit groups were excluded from free speech guarantees. Media corporations, for example, were allowed free reign to advocate for whomever they pleased at all times simply because it was codified that way. And even before Citizens, corporations of all stripes were allowed unlimited “issue advertising”, so long as they didn’t explicitly mention the looming election.

The Citizens United group was exactly what its name implies: a group of individual citizens united in a political cause. That their individual rights to free speech do not apply to those same citizens legally joined is a difficult thing for me to accept. And I’ve never seen anything in the Constitution giving Congress the power to say that “electioneering communication” is allowed only up to 60 days before an election. “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech.” That’s all it says. In fact, the McCain-Feingold terminology essentially allowed any book telling its readers to vote for whomever to be banned if it was published using corporate dollars. It sounds a lot scarier put that way, doesn’t it?

Note that the Supreme Court didn’t overturned limits on contributions to candidates from corporations (or individuals for that matter.) Contributions aren’t speech. But when it comes to speech, it should be protected for individual citizens and groups of citizens IMHO.

It’s a difficult subject. I certainly would like to see far less money in politics. I also worry about foreign ownership of corporations or non-profits playing a role in domestic politics. But a distinction between citizens acting individually or as a group simple isn’t in the First Amendment if you ask me.

——Twenty One Things
Your Burglar Won’t Tell You

1. Of course I look familiar. I was here just last week cleaning your carpets, painting your shutters, or delivering your new refrigerator.
2. Hey, thanks for letting me use the bathroom when I was working in your yard last week. While I was in there, I unlatched the back window to make my return a little easier.
3. Love those flowers. That tells me you have taste… and taste means there are nice things inside. Those yard toys your kids leave out always make me wonder what type of gaming system they have.
4. Yes, I really do look for newspapers piled up on the driveway. And I might leave a pizza flyer in your front door to see how long it takes you to remove it.
5. If it snows while you’re out of town, get a neighbor to create car and foot tracks into the house. Virgin drifts in the driveway are a dead giveaway.
6. If decorative glass is part of your front entrance, don’t let your alarm company install the control pad where I can see if it’s set. That makes it too easy.
7. A good security company alarms the window over the sink. And the windows on the second floor, which often access the master bedroom and your jewelry. It’s not a bad idea to put motion detectors up there too.
8. It’s raining, you’re fumbling with your umbrella, and you forget to lock your door - understandable. But understand this : I don’t take a day off because of bad weather.
9. I always knock first. If you answer, I’ll ask for directions
somewhere or offer to clean your gutters. (Don’t take me up on it.)
10. Do you really think I won’t look in your sock drawer? I always check dresser drawers, the bedside table and the medicine cabinet.
11. Helpful hint: I almost never go into kids’ rooms.
12. You’re right: I won’t have enough time to break into that safe where you keep your valuables. But if it’s not bolted down, I’ll take it with me.
13. A loud TV or radio can be a better deterrent than the best alarm system. If you’re reluctant to leave your TV on while you’re out of town, you can buy a $35 device that works on a timer and simulates the flickering glow of a real television. (Find it at faketv.com.)
14. Sometimes, I carry a clip board. Sometimes, I dress like a lawn guy and carry a rake. I do my best to never, ever look like a crook.
15. The two things I hate most: loud dogs and nosy neighbors.
16. I’ll break a window to get in, even if it makes a little noise. If your neighbor hears one loud sound, he’ll stop what he’s doing and wait to hear it again. If he doesn’t hear it again, he’ll just go back to what he was doing. It’s human nature.
17. I’m not complaining, but why would you pay all that money for a fancy alarm system and leave your house without setting it?
18. I love looking in your windows. I’m looking for signs that you’re home, and for flat screen TVs or gaming systems I’d like. I’ll drive or walk through your neighborhood at night, before you close the blinds, just to pick my targets.
19. Avoid announcing your vacation on your Face Book page. It’s easier than you think to look up your address.
20. To you, leaving that window open just a crack during the day is away to let in a little fresh air. To me, it’s an invitation.
21. If you don’t answer when I knock, I try the door. Occasionally, I hit the jackpot and walk right in.

Death toll rising:

Moscow metro explosions kill 40: reports

At least 40 people have been killed in two explosions on Moscow’s metro system, Russian news agencies say.

At least 25 people were killed in the first explosion, reports said.

Another 15 people died in the second explosion on Moscow’s metro system, reports said.

The Interfax news agency quoted a Russian security source as saying the first blast could have been the work of a suicide bomber, but no further details were immediately available.

The explosion took place on a train while it was in the Lubyanka station in central Moscow on Monday, the spokeswoman for the Russian emergencies ministry Irina Andrianova told the ITAR-TASS news agency.

“Fourteen people died in the wagon of the train and 11 on the platform,” she said. At least 10 people were wounded.

The Russian capital in the last decade was hit by a string of deadly explosions claimed by militants from its turbulent southern region of Chechnya but this has become less frequent in the past few years.

I’m not making a definitive statement. What I am saying is that given that past terror attacks in Moscow have been by Islamists and the attacks followed a pattern Al Qaeda favors, it is likely that these bombs were set off by an Islamist Organization.

You’re discounting the methods of old - bombs planted in stations, and bombs planted on trains. Not every terrorism attack will be done by suicide bombers.

If it’s Chechens, maybe more likely to be suicide bombers. Russians, maybe less.

458 SanFranciscoZionist  Sun, Mar 28, 2010 11:07:48pm

re: #417 Dark_Falcon

The Chechens who carried out such attacks were Islamists trained by Al-Qaeda. So even if its Chechens, its in many ways the same as if Bin Laden had ordered the attack.

Such an interesting pattern. The Russians fuck up any remnant of a civil society, then Bin Laden moves into the void, and terrorist attacks follow.

Afghanistan, Chechnya…

Al Qaeda provided the Chechens with advisers and training back in the 1990’s. Some their people also took refuge there briefly in 2002-2003. Al Qaeda taught the rebels how to commit terrorist acts like this and spread Islamic Radicalism amid the Chechen ranks.

Correct. Bin Laden and Al-Zawahiri don’t have control over the Chechens, but they radicalized and trained them. Which in my eyes makes them culpable for any Chechen suicide bombers.

re: #452 ausador

That rant is both hilarious and delightfully inconsistent. And if that’s the general Tea Party sentiment, it explains a lot. For example:

You must support the Constitution.
You must support the Second Amendment.

Isn’t that sort of redundant? By default, I would think that supporting the Constitution would mean supporting everything in it, including the Second Amendment.

You must support our military.
You must support tax cuts.
You must support cutting and limiting government.

One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn’t belong….

You must be pro-life.
You must support the death penalty.

Er…what?

There are many things that can be said about the Catholic Church, but at least they’re consistent in opposing both abortion AND the death penalty.

I want to say to the squishy moderate RINO’S your not welcome in the GOP.
If you want to be a squishy moderate RINO form your own party.

Because the fastest way to win elections is to alienate moderates and/or independents who might otherwise agree with you on most things. Also, purity purges never work. They just end up marginalizing your party rather than expanding it. Not a very bright strategy.

The latest Russian tactic has been to bring back 2 armored trains to patrol the rail lines in the area. They carry 23mm automatic cannon and combat vehicles (mostly BMP-2s). It also allows rapid movement of heavy weapons to areas where terrorist are found in numbers.

The Chechens did this back in the 40s and 50s as well. Would we here have called that ‘separatist’ or ‘anti-totalitarian’ back then?

I don’t support the Chechen political movements—same crap as everywhere else. But Russia has literally gotten away with torture, rape and murder, for decades, while the rest of the world shrugs its shoulders, and while I will never condone attacks on civilians, some of those have been launched out of Lubyanka as well as under it.
