God has given us brains, and expects us to use them. We are supposed to read and study and decide what would be best for America.

I, for one, welcome just such a ticket. Linguists would probably have to come up with a new word to adequately describe simultaneous feeling of embarrassment, fear, incredulity, and hilarity that would be evoked constantly by a Palin/Bachmann ticket.

21 Summer Seale  Thu, Apr 8, 2010 10:40:11am

Hi everyone, Sarah here!

I know, it’s been a long time. Well, you know, it’s really hard to be an ex-Governor and a Fox News commentator at the same time, all while writing tons of amazing and bestselling books in snappy red outfits, making political speeches, securing my run for the Presidency, and shooting Moose for dinner every night.

But am I up for the job?? You betcha!

Now, I know a lot of you have questions about when I’m going to announce that I’m running, and who my running mate is gonna be. But let me just say: I’m gonna just let the waves of popular support guide me and direct me until the time is right. You know, it’s like a sled race: you hafta pace yourself. And, gosh, isn’t this just such a great country where a simple gal like me can do all these things on her own time and still have time for her amazing and camera-shy family? You betcha again! And my family comes first, which is why I’m always putting their names in front of the camera, so that you all know that I really care about them.

Anyway, just thought I’d share. And as for Bachmann - isn’t she just so great? You know, she and I really get along and I wouldn’t count against us forming some sort of alliance between real Americans - Conservatives, that is. She and I think a lot alike and I think she’d make a great Vice President. Her outfits are always snappy as well, after all, and she doesn’t believe in that silly myth that science can figure stuff out for us and not the Bible.

So, just gonna leave it there and let all my fans keep praising me and telling me the direction they want me to move in.

Lotsa xoxox,

Sarah Palin.

Also, Wisconsin’s DA wants to arrest teachers for teaching sex-ed: [Link: www.aolnews.com…]

So Wisconsin PASSES A LAW, and this wacko DA from a county whose entire population could probably fit inside a school gymnasium says, if you follow that law, we’ll arrest you. Is it opposite day? Will it be his unbirthday tomorrow?

In his letter, Southworth told school district leaders the new law promotes sexual assault of children, and warns that teachers who follow the law could be charged with misdemeanor or felony delinquency of a minor, with maximum punishments ranging from nine months in jail to six years in prison.

Psycho!

Question: “Who is going to lead the Republicans?”
Bachmann: “It will be the individual who articulates the case for energy independence, fiscal responsibility, and national security…those are the three things…and economic recovery and job creation.” (uh, that’s five things)

That’s only if they outdo Mondale’s humiliation in 1984. Sadly, I think they might just win more states than he did. =/

Still, it would guarantee a second term for Obama, so I say the GOP should go for it. Anything to finally kill all this anti-science, anti-reason, deliberately ignorant crap that has infested the Republican party for decades now. If it takes those two dimwits running and getting crushed to either finally salvage the GOP from the socons or consign it to the dustbin of history, then I’m all for it.

I consider myself a pragmatic libertarian/conservative.

I’m among the swing voters who were alienated by McCain’s loss of composure as the financial crisis broke. I took the chance that Obama would grow into the office.

Instead, so far I’m in the Obama-is-Bush-on-steroids camp. I fear he’ll be worse than Bush (but not as bad as shudder Palin/Bachmann).

(Going for the final thread comment, whee!)

I’m kind of a pragmatic, middle-of-the-road lefty, the kind of person who could be swayed by the right kind of Republican. McCain from 2000 was more that person, but he lost me long ago, and for good when he picked Palin. The financial crisis meltdown was just extra fodder. And honestly, I liked Obama a lot the more I learned about him. So I can see your logic.

I’m not sure what you mean by Bush-on-steroids, unless you mean that he backs things like health care reform that are obviously more liberal than anything Bush would go for. I do think he’ll be much better in the long run on foreign policy issues, like eventually wrapping things in Iraq, if possible. Not an easy solution there. Overall, I think he’s done okay, with some tactical blunders in his first year.
