Phil Plait points out some incredible super-high resolution photos from the HiRISE camera aboard NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, showing evidence for the presence of liquid water on Mars.

The “gullies” in these images are only a few meters across. (More photos are here.)

No. Water can be solid (ice) or gas (steam)

I think those are some kind of depressions or wind formations, and the dark is shadow.

Oh please, those are totally not from water run-off, they are obviously the tracks of juvenile sandworms who are just having fun by "sledding" downhill on that slope.

Thanks for the Chemistry lesson. However, according to my learnin' when I was a youngster, H20 has three phases.. ice, water, and water vapor. Of course, this is just being a semantics jackass, so forget all that.

Now I agree that all the shit humans are pumping into the atmosphere is probably changing the climate. I'm not an AGW guy, science is science. But, I'm gonna have to take Carlin's stance on this one, "There's nothing wrong with the planet. The Planet is fine, the people are fucked!"

Actually in the Nuclear World there is what is called super saturated steam...It is a state of steam under intense pressure..This is what you drive turbines with..Also this state of steam is completely invisible..You can't see it at all...

25 reloadingisnotahobby  Mon, Apr 12, 2010 1:47:15pm

I've "Embiggened" the photo and studied it at length and carefully.
My official opinion of this phenomenon is that these
are the tracks of wild, inbred Unicorns!
..Must add that the five upper left tracks are those of
..Antelope...herding the Unicorns to a cliff where they will fall
to their death to be consumed by the Carnivorous Antelope!
...Just look at !It's as plan as the point on my single spiral horn!!

LOL
Hope today finds you well...
In an engine room one of the most feared and deadly things is a high pressured steam leak..It is deadly..and invisible..
Of course on a sub fire is really bad..And water..Taking on water on a boat is never a good thing..Scramming a reactor is never good..Once a reactor shuts down you are pretty much in big trouble for hours.. In DryDock it took us about 4 hours to refire the reactor.. I imagine in a war zone with a torpedo coming at you it would be much shorter period of time.. But you are still f*cked.

I deeply regret that my great-grandfather wrote nothing down about his time on a sub in WWI.

This isn't common knowledge but when we build the CVN 65 Enterprise It had 4 Nuclear reactors on it.. After a while the Navy shut down 2 of them..Just too much power..It could twist the screws off of any ship.. So it uses just 2 reactors...

There is no such thing as UV radiation, that warmth you feel when the sun shines on you is an illusion God gives you to show his love. Also both of those mythical UV-A and UV-B rays from the sun cause neither tanning nor skin cancer, tanning occurs when you lay out in Gods gift of sunshine and he gives you a "golden glow" as a reward for your faith. Skin cancer happens when God is punishing you for not perfectly living within his "10" commandments...

God gave us free will, yet he still punishes us for our bad choices while still in this life? Ever want to hear a "Christian" tie him/herself into knots trying to make sense of or justify their beliefs ask them about that one.

/I'm sick of being made out to be an idiot simply because I am a Christian. I can't help what these idiots believe...

And fortunately, no oil or coal on Mars, so if we're going to exploit it, it's probably gonna be with technology that will require a subscription through something owned by Steve Jobs, who will still be getting wheeled out at Apple pep rallies as a disembodied head in a tank.

And yet President Obama has pretty much killed our manned space launch capability. The US is going to be remembered as the Portugal of the space age . . . we got there first, then went "meh", came home and left the good stuff to everyone else.
