@i330.org: Yet more on John R. Bradley">Joshua Trevino emailed Lonely Planet to check up on John R. Bradley’s claim that he wrote The Lonely Planet Guide to Saudi Arabia. As Mr. Bradley wrote in a comment here at LGF, he did write a chapter in Lonely Planet’s Middle East Guide 4, and Joshua’s reply from Lonely Planet confirms this.

Only one problem: the byline in his silly attack on James Taranto states unequivocally:

John R. Bradley is News Editor at Arab News and author of the Lonely Planet Guide to Saudi Arabia.

Joshua hits the nail on the head with his comment:

I’m sure Bradley will split hairs on this, saying that his chapter is the “Lonely Planet Guide to Saudi Arabia” (something that not even the Lonely Planet people will characterize it as), but the bottom line is still that he claimed authorship of a book — not a chapter — that does not exist. It’s misleading and inflating, and I rather doubt it was an accident.
