Going to need to pause a bit before listening, the local public radio channel has on Exploring Music and he just played Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů composed his Memorial to Lidice Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů's "Memorial to Lidice". Intense music and I need to wait a moment before anything else.
I'll hit later though as I can always be sure of the music posted here.

On a side issue... William, where are you from... you're screen name "wlewisiii" certainly has a Eastern European "sound" to it, but there are too many vowels... way to many vowels.
The first time I was in Eastern Europe, I was looking at a newspaper thinking... "Wow, playing 'Wheel of Fortune' in this country must be really expensive... vowels must cost a whole lot of money... 'cuase there isn't any in this language."

And... a boulder just fell and has blocked south bound traffic in the canyon that feeds up to this mountain neighborhood, which, if you are clever enough, a clue, the real South Park Colorado.
Not cool... we have 5 inches of snow right now, more snow coming down, and all the "South Park" high school kids are downhill in Denver for their prom.
If they don't get the canyon cleared, it's going to take them 2 hours to get home on smaller and snowier mountain roads. Not good.

Old old screen name from the old days of the usenet.
My name is William (A. Barnett-) Lewis III (aka the third). Hence an early vax-vms user name became wlewis. I used it 99.99% of the time since - then gmail said it was was taken but wlewisiii was available. Hence, that's what I use now.

No... it was an honest question, the part about the name.
The other part about "buying a vowel" what just a little humor. The first time I was in Poland, I was watching some local European version of Wheel of Fortune on the hotel TV (I think the Italian version) and that thought about "lack of vowels" in Polish crossed my mind.

We get them enough. The road up here (at 8000 plus feet) is a 4 lane, divided highway, but 15 miles east of here, at about 6000 feet, closer to Denver, the highway narrows into a canyon, still four lanes, but narrow and not really much of a shoulder.
That's where the boulder has blocked the highway, on the south bound, up hill lanes.
Do you know what town I live in by using my South Park clue?
BBIAB... supper.

Crap.
You didn't warn me 'bout the fucking boulders before I came to visit.
Locals driving on smaller roads = probably no problem. Me, after a 750+ day's drive, just coming up the regular canyon route to your house was enough. And there was no snow.

This is the sort of schizophrenic stuff you start to see when a nation no longer has a semblance singular atomic culture.
There was an upside to there being only CBS, NBC, and ABC for decades, along with a handful of major newspapers and radio stations that really only played music. There was much more of a unifying basis in media. It was also boring as hell.
Culture wars vs. the cold war... i'm not sure which is worse.

OK, I'll bite, but I can't be limited to just one. You'll accept 10, and you'll be happy about it!
In no particular order (though they are definitely NOT all equals):
* Black Sabbath
* Igor Stravinsky
* Frank Zappa
* DEVO
* Raymond Scott
* King Crimson
* Philip Glass
* Allan Holdsworth
* Aphex Twin
* Gary Numan

They are of course going to pretend they were just referencing the election month and not Guy Fawkes if pressed.
The reference is also to the graphic novel and movie V for Vendetta. They seem to miss the point that the Neo-Fascist organization of the story (NorseFire) is far more analogous to the "Counter-Jihad Movement" than anything to be found on the left.

Never mind that the whole militia thing failed miserably in the Revolution and even worse in 1812, they really firmly believed that a standing army was the single most dangerous thing possible (they never met the CIA or NSA...!!!) and thought we could defend these United States with militia forces.

It's essentially a delivery vehicle for extremist propaganda.
You don't see how teaching people how to drop a man at 100 yards while simultaneously feeding them revolutionary propaganda is dangerous?
A snip from the loony page:
What you'll find an Appleseed is:
*A gathering of your fellow Americans interested in learning how to shoot a rifle. Most will show up with that, and only that, on their minds. Before the Appleseed is over, they will, most of them, discover to their suprise that Appleseed is about far more than that. And many, maybe most, will go home shaken up a bit, inspired even, to learn the shinning facts surrounding the first day of their country's drive toward liberty.
*The first step of a journey toward not only becoming a rifleman, but an awakening to your history and heritage and the slow understanding that Appleseed is about far more than marksmanship.
*Finding out, to your surprise, that there are a lot of fellow Americans just like you. Uncertain about the future, slightly depressed in believing there's not much they can do about it, and feeling pretty lonely and helpless. And, suddenly, you don't feel so lonely any more. Nor quite so powerless to deal with the future. In fact, you'll find HOPE.
Depressed about the state of the country? There's something you can do! You too can learn to be a sniper!
History is the facts of April 19, 1775, some of which as you hear them will raise the hairs on the back on your neck; others will make your chest swell with pride, even two hundred-plus years later. Still others will sadden you - not only because of the price paid for liberty on that first day, but the shameful fact that most Americans have completely forgotten that price.
Heritage is what we make of those facts, and how we appreciate them. What kind of people were we, on April 19th, 1775? What kind of people are we, today? Do we still care about that first day? About what happened?
Most Americans don't, and that may be why this country, without its anchor to the founders, has lost its way, and is now adrift, in danger of grounding against the rocks. In danger of sinking.
And who's gonna stop the drift?
Are the people in Washington going to put us back on the right track? (Doubtful - they are the ones partly responsible for our ship of state being adrift...)
Is the media going to put us on the right track? (Doubtful - they are partly responsible for where we are...)
Is the educational system going to do it? (Very doubtful - they bear a lot of responsibility for failing to acquaint Americans with their history and heritage of April 19th, 1775.)
So, who's going to do it? If none of the traditional leaders of the country are going to?
How about, we do it? Us, the American people.
Why not? Who better to do it?
Wake the American people to their history and heritage, and enough of them will respond (we hope) and absorb what they learn - and will have a determination to make sure it doesn't die "on our watch".
Of course, there are no guarantees.
There were none that long-ago April morn, and there are none, today.
If Americans want to save their country; if they want to preserve, even strengthen, their liberty - they will do it.
If they don't, if no one really cares any more - they won't.
The jury is out. Just as it was, for 8 years of the Revolutionary War.
Yet, we did it once before. We can do it again. The example's been set.
Like them, we can only try. Try with all our might. With all our dedication. With all our effort.
Understanding, as you'll find out, the American Revolution was a revolution in hearts and minds, a change in the way of people thinking about things.
So, you don't like the way the country is heading? And you don't think you or anyone else can do anything about it?
We need to change that attitude, and that way of thinking. Because we can do it.
It's pretty obvious what they are doing here, and it's dangerous as hell.

Agreed. The Appleseed folks have problems, but they put a premium on "winning the soft war" (ie stopping the left without violence) and do not show the eagerness to fight seen in many militia groups. Their advocacy of marksmanship is more in line with this phrase: Se vis pacem, para bellum (If you want peace, prepare for war).

I read this today - would like some input from those who know more.
Ron Paul had this 'remember remember the 5th of Nov' thing right?
Well the Republican Governors have released a video called "Remember November" with Guy Fawkes references.
What's your take?
Interesting. DNS Stuff puts administrative contact for Remember November as Lucas Baiano. The address there is located in Niagara on the Lake.
That would Lucas Baiano of Lumiere Films. They must have created the video for this production.
More here:
…It starts in December 2007, when Baiano managed to make it into a Toronto book tour function of former U.S. president Bill Clinton.
Baiano told Clinton he wanted to make a promotional video for his wife, Hillary Clinton, who was campaigning as the Democratic nominee president. His pitch got the thumbs up in 2008 and Baiano was sent raw campaign footage that he turned into a dynamic 2 1/2 minute video.
It was adopted by the Clinton campaign youth faction and went viral on YouTube.…When Clinton's campaign folded and Barack Obama prevailed, all seemed lost.
That's when Baiano, who disagreed with some of Obama's policies, threw his support behind Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
After McCain was defeated by Obama in 2008, Republicans took notice.
In January, Baiano was hired as director of visual media for the Republican Governors Association.
He's currently working to help them with November's mid-term gubernatorial elections.
Baiano, who now calls Washington home, hopes to eventually make a longer feature film…

Evening... did you see my comment above? We have a half of foot of snow up here tonight, and it's not going to stop before morning. And a boulder fell down into the canyon and is blocking the up hill bound lanes about 15 miles east of here, so no one is getting up hill for now unless they take some really back mountain roads... cozy up here tonight.
And here, I was out in shorts doing yard work!!

So is there literally no other way out save through that boulder?
Out, yes, the east bound lanes of the highway, from up here down hill to the Denver area is open... but the up hill lanes, West, from the Denver area is blocked by a boulder. You could go up Bear Creek Canyon to the north, or up Deer Creek Canyon south of here and drive one of the peak to peak roads back into our area, but those are two lanes roads, narrow, steeper than the main highway and we have a half a foot of snow right now, and it's going to be snowing all night.

It's essentially a delivery vehicle for extremist propaganda.
By Canadian standards, maybe.
You don't see how teaching people how to drop a man at 100 yards while simultaneously feeding them revolutionary propaganda is dangerous?
Hitting a human-sized target at 100 yards with almost any rifle not made of 100% rust is trivially easy for anyone with a few days' worth of experience with said rifle.
As for revolutionary propaganda, the stuff on their website is quite milquetoast when compared to The Real Thing (which is readily available, just use your googlez). That said, I can't really tell whether their "Plan to Save America" page is supposed to be a joke or not. I invoke Poe's Law on that one.
The people who are actually worthy of your worry tend not to tip-toe and tap-dance around their ideology. Many of their tacit supporters do, but that's another story.
These Appleseed guys just seem like slightly-sad hobbyists.

I'm honestly not uncomfortable at all with guns. I've been to the range, and it really is rather fun. I'm uncomfortable with the narrative that people should arm themselves because "we may need them" because of [insert vague paranoid delusion here].
a random quote from their forums:
First, don't give up on the family. But don't come on too strong with them either.Far better to skip prognostications, and get them to a place you can shoot, and put a .22 in their hands, and cool the rhetoric about the coming Apocalypse. Get them to an Appleseed, and everything will be OK when and if the A comes.
Second, look 15 years (or 30, or whatever) down the road, but plan your actions for the next twelve months.
Thoughts and concerns are one thing - but they don't exist in reality as they are mere speculations about the future. Actions are real and take place in the next 24 hours and mean something and make a difference that all the worry in the world cannot.
There's alot of that sort of thing on their forums.

yeah yeah, loud and clear. :p
And you have a point, its just a visceral reaction.
Part of it also is that I love guns, but people that are really REALLY into guns are creepy. The more they're into it, the creepier it is.
I've always found the US gun culture varying degrees of fascinating and ugly.
I grew up in a culture where guns are rare. It's not because people are afraid of them, as many think - they just don't have a cultural place. They're a tool. It'd be like getting passionate about toasters. And when I talk to people who are passionate about guns, that's still how I feel - 'why are you so excited about this appliance?'
In the end, though, I'm with you - gun fetishism is creepy. I remember when I thought guns were the COOLEST THINGS EVAR - when I was 12 or so. And while I'm all for grown men indulging the little boy inside, as I happily do all the time, gun fetishism still looks a lot like toaster fetishism to me.

re: #221 Aceofwhat?
it's because you have the wrong analogy.
a gun is an instrument. i think they're fine...mine is at my father's cabin...but i'm not really an "enthusiast".
now my tennis racquet...there's an instrument. Babolat...perfect weight and balance for me...when i behave correctly, it sings.
why is my fascination with my instrument of choice more or less creepy than another man's fascination with his instrument of choice?
As with many things, it's a question of degree. I am, if anything, even more precise and exacting with my own sporting equipment as you are with your racquet. A craftsman should know his tools, and a certain affection for them is only natural.
A detailed knowledge of your tools is one thing. Elevating your tools to a mythological level somewhere between Excalibur and the Holy Grail, and creating an entire culture and worldview around their symbolism, is something else. It's as creepy as any other fetishism, in the end. In this case, it's just a more popularly accepted one.

That being said, thinking with a gun 'I think I may need this!' is kinda paranoid.
As a gun owner and also a gun control advocate (also ex military) I'd say the problem with the "self defense" arguments and horror stories is this... most people don't carry a gun in the manner in which it would provide help in a "self defense" situation.
Your gun needs to be on you, in your hand and locked/loaded to be of any use. A gun in your night stand, your glove box, your closet, etc doesn't really do dick. The chances of you even getting into a situation where you'd need a gun, a the ready, are slim. The odds that you'd actually get to a gun and use it in a situation if it's not already on you are even slimmer.
It's an interesting argument I have with myself as far as carrying laws. What good is a gun if I can't carry it at the ready? vs Whack jobs walking around with loaded guns all the time is a guaranteed recipe for trouble.

Guns don't bother me. I grew up around them since I've got hunters, sportsmen and cops in my family. Knives and swords don't bother me either, since I happen to like them, too. What bothers me is all this rhetoric of revolution, whether it's the tea parties, the militia resurgence, and all that. Toss in the law that just got signed in Arizona and the wingnuts arming themselves at the border, and it makes me nervous.
None of this shit would be happening if McCain had won the election. It's as simple as that.
They started their "project" in 2005, with their first event in 2006, while Bush was still President.

I missed this bit earlier. Sounds like an hour before they launched the X-37B into space some sort of test hypersonic glider went up first (part of Prompt Global Strike?).
From Popular Science:
[Link: www.popsci.com...]
DARPA's HTV-2 was first into the air, around 7 pm EDT. The hypersonic vehicle is designed to glide through the Earth's atmosphere at speeds 20 times greater than the speed of sound. The Santa Maria Times notes that several maneuvers were scheduled to test how HTV-2 handles during the hypersonic glide stage, before hurtling into the Pacific Ocean at more than 13,000 mph for a planned demise.A future hypersonic platform could theoretically deliver precision strikes to targets around the world with "little or no advanced warning," as DARPA puts it. A second test is planned for 2011, based on the success of yesterday's sortie.

We use piano keyed type boxes for our personal firearms (Kimber Ultra Carry II for me). That way I can keep the firearm loaded and cocked with the safety off and I don't really have to worry about an accidental discharge.

We use piano keyed type boxes for our personal firearms (Kimber Ultra Carry II for me). That way I can keep the firearm loaded and cocked with the safety off and I don't really have to worry about an accidental discharge.
It's a slight delay vs the pillow method but I've drilled it enough to put the weapon in my hand in less than 3 seconds so I'm comfortable with that window.
The nice part about the H&K P7M8 is the unique squeeze-cocker.
[dirty jokes coming up in 3...2...1...]
There is no possible scenario for an accidental discharge. Hence, it's loaded and ready with a round in the chamber at all times.
Even in the unlikely event that the perp gets it away from you, there's virtually no chance he'll know how to fire it, unless he's a retired member of the old German police force.
If nine rounds aren't enough, there's the P7M13. 13 + 1 chambered = 14.
And yes, each round has a name and I kiss them goodnight.

Nice piece of weaponry. I'm still waiting for workable palm print technology so the gun will ONLY fire for me or authorized prints, etc. That will be a very, very exciting development.

Printing New Skin: Saving Lives with Ink Jet Printers [VIDEO]
By modifying an ink jet printer and growing skin cells from a patient’s body, an Army research lab has developed an amazing treatment for severe burns: printing new skin.
Once the patient’s skin cells are in a sterile ink cartridge, a computer uses a three dimensional map of the wound to guide the printing.
“The bio-printer drops each type of cell precisely where it needs to go,” explains Kyle Binder, a biomedical scientist at the Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine’s Wake Forest lab. “The wound gets filled in and then those cells become new skin.”

This is my toaster!
This is my toaster. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My toaster is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My toaster, without me, is useless. Without my toaster, I am useless. I must fire my toaster true. I must shoot straighter than any enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will... My toaster and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit... My toaster is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my toaster clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will.... Before God I swear this creed. My toaster and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but Peace.

Heh, I missed this yesterday too :P.
DARPA "flying Humvee" project approved:
The Defense Advanced Projects Agency (DARPA) has cleared the Transformer (TX) program for takeoff. If it flies, by 2015 U.S. soldiers will be able to ride into battle aboard a four-person flying car that can cruise in the air like an airplane, drive on the ground like an SUV, rove 250 miles on one tank of fuel and not require a runway to get airborne.
...
The Transformer will give troops the ability to avoid traditional and unconventional threats such as ambushes and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and road obstructions. DARPA envisions a variety of use-case scenarios for the TX, including strike and raid, interdiction, intervention, insurgency/counterinsurgency, reconnaissance, medical evacuation and logistics supply.Vehicle specifications call for a robust four-passenger vehicle that can carry a 1,000-pound payload, perform on a variety of surfaces like an SUV and rapidly take off and land vertically (VTOL).
It has to be able to fly as high as 10,000 feet with a minimum cruise speed of a light, single-engine airplane like a Cessna or Piper. It has to quickly change between ground and flight operations.
...
DARPA wants the TX to have the ability to automatically take off and land without a pilot while still offering a manual mode that would let the vehicle operator make flight steering commands in real time.

We're just back from a day out in which we crossed the 'Brookly Bridge' on foot (they really have a residential area called 'Dumbo'? Who would live there?). And then drank our way back to ice-ski's place in the real New York.
We're just relaxing now, awaiting a delivery of pizza and illegal drugs. I love this city!:D

What do you think about alarms? I don't have one for my house; I've always thought they were a bit ridiculous. Now I'm second guessing it. I do have two dogs, one of which is really scary.

This made me think of another tip that's more about security than safety however. When I'm out in the city, doesn't matter which one, I carry a bindle with me. A bindle being a wallet with about 20 bucks in it and a bunch of those fake credit cards you get in the mail. My real cash, ID and single car key are much more secure.
Get mugged, throw the bindle and run.

Hmm the only thing that comes to mind immediately would be maximum penalties possible for any crime, including possession, of unregistered or illegal firearms. I do support waiting periods as well and think it should apply to all firearms and not just handguns. Simply to deter crimes or suicides "of passion".

Since the earlier subject was floral, here's another infamous "faked macro" photo taken in honor of the subject a few minutes ago.
Image: Iris-0424.jpg
I don't have a macro lens for the Canon, so sometimes I fake with my telephoto. To do this you put the subject on the floor, stand on a stool or chair so you are far enough away to focus, and shoot the photo with your telephoto lens well extended. It’s tricky as you have to minutely move your head back and forth a while until you get the camera to focus, and you are sunk if you don’t have image stabilization in your lens because otherwise it’s near impossible to get the shot without some blurring from camera shake, no matter how steady you hold your hands. If you don't have an image stabilizer then try a tripod on the chair and a remote shutter release.

I agree with gun locks to a point. Requiring locks and/or security (gun safe, etc) on unattended firearms is totally fine with me. Unattended meaning, I'm not home. Makes them harder to steal and harder for kids to misuse.

Keeping weapons out of the hands of your kids is one thing. Rendering them useless in case of need is another.
Agreed. Though there are some weapons like Taurus revolvers that have integral locks.

Agreed and I had to take a gun and hunters safety course at 7 to hunt in PA. When I bought my first handguns in New Jersey my DD214 allowed me to bypass the mandatory safety class but it's still a good idea.
A shooting instructor I know who works at a range told me this story.
Grrrl comes in with her boyfriend, who has "already taught her" how to shoot.
Range requires basic safety check before you can shoot.
Instructor tells her to unload, make safe, and hand him the Glock she's proposing to use.
She proceeds to rack all fifteen rounds through the chamber, one at a time, and grinningly hand him the gun.
She and her BF threw a mighty fit before they got thrown out of the place.

Not even a locked cabinet?
It's stories like the little 8 year old boy who blew away his father and his father's friend after getting the shotgun out from under the bed that trouble me. Those stories aren't terribly common, but they are becoming less rare.
Disagree.
They are becoming rarer.
Gun consciousness is no different from Krishna consciousness. Must. Be. Practiced.
More disturbing to me are the stories like the one about the Texas woman who had a carry license but was prohibited by Denny's from taking her legal gun into the restaurant.
That was the day the crazy guy decided to run his pickup truck into the front of the restaurant and blow away as many people as he could.
Including her parents.
While her legal gun was in her car.
Fuck that shit.

Tied in with location. Suppose someone has kids but lives in a dangerous area. Then it would require a little more work. Wouldn't make any sense to keep gun unlocked if you have kids when you're not home. Unless of course they're old enough and trained to provide for their own protection.

re: #593 windsagio
We need to get some line between 'guns are useless!' and 'guns are a perfect solution, yay for the white hats!'
That's a good way to look at it. Moderation is important on all sides. It's also important to remember that violent crime rates are on the decline. While there have been mass shootings from time to time the majority of people are murdered by a family member, friend, or spouse. Statistically then the real argument would be that one would be armed not to defend themselves from strangers but from people they know.

I want to find Republicans to take seriously, but it is hard. Not because they don't exist -- serious Republicans -- but because, as Sanchez and others seem to recognize, they are marginalized, even self-marginalizing, and the base itself seems to have developed a notion that bromides are equivalent to policy-thinking, and that therapy is a substitute for thinking.
Worth a read. Short answer: Yes, they've gone quite insane.

I don't think draconian guns, or gun laws, are the reason NY has such a low crime rate as compared to the 1970s or 80s. I think it's because people like Rudi took a zero-tolerance approach to quality-of-life issues.
Love him or hate, him, the Big G. did that.
And I'm betting the rates of legal and illegal gun ownership have remained pretty much steady throughout.

C.D.O. Days, S&M Nights at Derivatives Conference
Financiers, lawyers, traders and accountants gathered this week at the annual International Swaps and Derivatives Association conference here to discuss “Collateralization and Netting — the Impact” and “Systemic Risk: Advances and Challenges in the Wake of the Crisis.”By Thursday night they needed to put out of their minds the specter of sweeping legislation to regulate the derivatives.
They escaped to Supperclub, a bar and restaurant, where some plopped on the beds that covered the floor while a waiter in denim short shorts, suspenders and a scarf delivered drinks. The truly relaxed turned over on their tummies and received back massages from a dreadlocked member of the Supperclub staff.
By midnight, others ended up in the S & M chamber with a bed-to-ceiling stripper pole and videos of dominatrixes playing in the background.
This story rubs me the wrong way. It seems very private, unlike the RNC outing we were all laughing about a month ago. Does anyone think that's hypocritical?

I hate the friggin' weather, and the lack of city culture, but the people (on average) are real nice and the fresh, local produce is great.
I miss the smell of the ocean though, and long for it with every breath.
Man let's trade........ too expensive to live in this city (San Diego)....... City culture is overrated, I rarely partake in the city stuff. The ocean smell is overrated too....... maybe it's just the grass is greener thing. Or perhaps it's the fact I live very close to where the Tijuana river empties into the ocean.

You're body needs water, you should drink that shit.
Seriously. Refined sugar is bad for you, but they barely even put that in soda anymore. They use HFC, which is worse. And the diet sweeteners ain't healthy neither.
You should stick to my ABC "diet" of beverages:
Agua
Beer
Coffee
Everything else is crap./

re: #717 Racer X
So I'm in the cafeteria at Kaiser today and they just replaced all of their soft drinks with diet. No more sugary stuff - only the artificially sweetened who knows what's in it fake stuff. That may or may not cause cancer or make you grow a third arm. No matter. Sugar is bad for you. Drink the diet stuff.
Best part?
They still have a designated smoking area right outside the front entrance.
Fail.
I have many friends that eat well, don't smoke, and lead reasonably active daily lives - walk to work, walk most places they have to go, etc. They drink nothing but diet soft drinks. They are fat as houses.
The preservatives and fake sugary taste in diet drinks play havoc with your metabolism. If you want to drink something sweet, drink the regular stuff. Better yet, turn on a tap.

I hear ya. I drink mostly water. I occasionally have a soda and I see no harm in that. But there are people who drink 3-4 sodas or more every day, and that can be bad for you.

Well, we could trade.
Too expensive? Cost of living is relative. You move here doing the same work, you'll get paid much less money. Back to square one.
City culture? There's something out their for everyone to enjoy in a big city, you just have to look for it. I suppose the same could be said for where I'm at.
Ocean air? Well, you got me there. I grew up in the Bay Area, so we didn't have a Tijuana sludge to contend with.
As far as the grass being greener? I dunno, I've never bought weed in San Diego. In the list of places I've been/lived, I'd have to say the grass is always greener in Seattle. Cheaper, too. :)

Go without health, fire, home, flood, car, and life insurance.
Throw out your fire extinguishers, they just take up space, and you know what, those fuckers are dangerous and might explode!!!1!
Don't look either way when crossing the street.
Never wear a seat belt, and disable your airbags. If you get in an accident, you might be thrown clear of the car, and that would be better.
The chances of anything bad happening to you are [some number I just pulled out of my ass].
And whatever you do, don't take ownership of your own safety by owning and knowing how to use a gun.
They're for wingnuts, assholes and people with tiny little dicks.

The most common complaint about water I hear from people is "I don't like the taste". WTF? Barring hard water and manky pipes, water doesn't really have a "flavor".
A sugary soda once in a while won't kill you. Likely healthier than the diet stuff. Heh, I gave up soda-pop years ago, and in doing so I also gave up acid indigestion and acid reflux.

Well.... I could probably live anywhere........ I work from home on the computer so it's not location dependent.
I'm not fond of crowds.... leaving the city would not be a problem. I avoid the city like the plague.
I'm not a fan of the ocean or weed.... I tried to like pot....... just not for me I guess.
