Hawaii to Birthers: Talk to the Hand

Wingnuts • Views: 5,608

As we noted last month, the state of Hawaii has pretty much had it with Birthers demanding to see Barack Obama’s real, true, official, not fake, certified, long-form birth certificate, and yesterday the state legislature passed a bill that will allow officials to ignore these obsessive repeated requests from loons.

The measure approved by the state Legislature on Tuesday would carve an exemption in the state’s public records law and allow officials to ignore all kinds of duplicative requests, including those for Obama’s birth certificate.

Hawaii Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino has issued two statements since 2008 saying she had seen vital records proving Obama is a natural-born American citizen. Obama was born in Honolulu to a Kenyan father and an American mother.

But state officials say they still get between 10 and 20 e-mails each week seeking verification of Obama’s birth.

even if the state DID release the official birth certificate, the nirthers would say it was counterfeit since it took so many months to appear.

20 a week. That is really less than I thought. I imagine Orly and Lt Col Lakin probably account for a couple of those...then you have Keyes. Maybe Amurka isn't as stupid as I thought? Or maybe the 18% stupids don't know how to contact the Hawaii Department of Vital Statistics, or can't afford the $10 out of their Social Security check to send with the request.

6 lawhawk  Wed, Apr 28, 2010 11:30:00am

But.... but.... they must be hiding something if they're not going to release the full information in their records... We've got proof of a conspiracy /Orly

It is crazy, but maybe the state should start quantifying the cost of each and every one of these requests and how it affects the state budget - you know since so many of the people looking at this are also to be found among the Tea Party set.

Memo to the birthers - Obama is President of the United States of America. Grow up and deal with it. Your conspiracy nonsense isn't going to do you or anyone else any favors. You sound like a bunch of spoiled brats who didn't get their way and now make stuff up in a snit.

Pretty much. God could appear on the White House lawn in front of every media outlet in the world, wave a hand, and show the actual moment of President Obama's birth in Hawaii, and birthers would *still* deny that it happened.

It's not about his birth in Hawaii and never has been. It's about making Barack Obama an "other" and de-legitimizing him as Presdient.

Don't look now but the weirdos are planning an "Obama Care Eligibility March".

Excerpt from the Daily Paulian Crackpot:

OBAMACARE/OBAMA ELIGIBILITY MARCH ON WASHINGTON

At the Ellipse – President’s Park South
17th St & Constitution Ave, NW
DATE: SATURDAY, MAY 29, 2010
TIME: 12:00 NOON – 4:00 P.M.

BARACK OBAMA IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO SERVE AS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES DUE TO THE FOLLOWING:

* The United States Constitution mandates the President of the United States must be a United States “natural born” Citizen – Article II, Section I;

* Obama was born in Mombasa, in what is now Kenya, Africa;

* Obama’s legal name is Barry Soetoro;

* Obama is an Indonesian Citizen as he was adopted/acknowledged by his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian Citizen; and

* The Healthcare bill (ObamaCare) signed into Law by Obama on March 23, 2010 is unconstitutional and voidable since he is ineligible to serve as President of the United States.

Being organized by World Nut Drooly favorite, Phillip Berg.

Here's a tidbit for conspiracy fans:

In 1298 C.E. Marco Polo describes the cloth Muslin in his book The Travels. He said that it is made in Mosul, (Iraq) and sold by merchants who were called "Musolini."

Public records requests are very costly to try to comply with. Having been on the government end of receiving tons of requests for no other reason than a person is on some sort of fishing expedition, just wants to see what's there, and other frivolous requests - I can tell you I don't blame the State of Hawaii one bit for taking this action.

Well, it is sort of a gimmee... but you're right. From last week's Fox News story comments about Hawaii preparing to do this:

usfrog
California

This is good news. It almost proves that there is something "wrong" with the B.C. Anyway in order to be a Natural born citizen, one must be born on US soil from two parents themselves US citizens at the time of the child's birth. Thus, whether born in Hawaii or not, Obama is not eligible to be President. If there is nothing to hide, why is everyong bending over backwards trying to hide it ?

Ah here we go:

Birthers prepare to march on Washington

By David Weigel

The long-rumored "birth certificate march on Washington" -- a project of the original birther attorney, Phil Berg -- will happen on Saturday, May 29. Berg is beckoning supporters to the 82-acre President's Park, right across from the White House.

The event will include a protest of health-care reform because, as Berg writes:

The Healthcare bill (ObamaCare) signed into Law by Obama on March 23, 2010 is unconstitutional and voidable since he is ineligible to serve as President of the United States.

Good to know! Of course, there's a promotional video -- which rather rudely adopts the imagery of the 9/12 taxpayer march on Washington.

If the media-to-protesters ratio at last week's open-carry rally was about four to one, what's the over/under on the radio this time? Ten to one?

I haven't seen word of this on other birther sites -- much of the energy has moved over to Terry Lakin's court-martial and Orly Taitz's campaign for Secretary of State in California -- and Berg is better known for his tenacity than his organizational skills.

Texas Lawmaker To Introduce Get-Tough Immigration Bill

AUSTIN (April 28, 2010)—State Rep. Debbie Riddle, R-Tomball, says she plans to push for a law similar to Arizona's get-tough immigration measure when the Legislature convenes next year.

The new Arizona law requires local and state law enforcement officers to question people about their immigration status and makes it a crime for immigrants not to have registration documents.

Riddle says if the federal government did its job "Arizona wouldn't have to take this action, and neither would Texas," she said.

Democrats say such legislation is misguided and predict it will hurt the GOP politically.

"Where did this idea come from that everybody deserves free education, free medical care, free whatever? It comes from Moscow, from Russia. It comes straight out of the pit of hell. And it's cleverly disguised as having a tender heart. It's not a tender heart. It's ripping the heart out of this country."

Pit of hell speech

In a March 6, 2003 interview with the El Paso Times, Riddle was quoted as saying:

"Where did this idea come from that everybody deserves free education, free medical care, free whatever? It comes from Moscow, from Russia. It comes straight out of the pit of hell. And it's cleverly disguised as having a tender heart. It's not a tender heart. It's ripping the heart out of this country."

re: #6 lawhawk

It is crazy, but maybe the state should start quantifying the cost of each and every one of these requests and how it affects the state budget - you know since so many of the people looking at this are also to be found among the Tea Party set.

Memo to the birthers - Obama is President of the United States of America. Grow up and deal with it. Your conspiracy nonsense isn't going to do you or anyone else any favors. You sound like a bunch of spoiled brats who didn't get their way and now make stuff up in a snit.

My (possibly incorrect) impression is that some states or agencies do charge for such requests. Government being government, I suspect they're in no hurry to streamline the process and reduce the costs.

The most important purpose of freedom-of-information legislation is to give the public access to information which the government would rather not divulge. When such cases arise, the government sometimes invokes spurious pretexts and excuses not to comply.

Congratulations, birthers. You've done your little bit to undermine the process and strengthen the credibility of those who want to deny the public access to information to which the public is entitled.

Oh s***: The Greek Crisis is Like 'Ebola'

But, as Germany debates whether and how it should contribute to a Greek bailout, investors are also worried that Portugal, Ireland and Spain may soon stumble in paying back their loans.

This creates a positive feedback loop: Nervous investors charge higher interest. That leaves countries further in debt, which in turn makes investors even more nervous and leads them to demand even higher interest rates.

As governments spend more to service their debt, they must reduce spending elsewhere. That, in turn, can choke off economic growth -- and economic growth is necessary for countries to dig themselves out of debt.

I admit that I have not been following this at all /sheepish look. I don't find it a big deal to question a birth certificate because that is part of the equation to wanting to be president yes? If we have laws, we should see if they are met and vet them out. It's that simple. Once met, end of story.

138 search4truth  Wed, Apr 28, 2010 2:24:04pm

To enter my child into kindergarten, they would NOT take a copy and I had to wait nearly a month and lose a spot because I did not have a real copy of her birth certificate. I'm sorry but I fail to understand why it's a big deal for a president to provide a real birth certificate when my 5 year old has to have one for school?????

139 search4truth  Wed, Apr 28, 2010 2:26:48pm

so it makes me wonder about people...what is the big deal? Put out the real birth cert or not? I would love to invite any of you to come talk to the school authorities that would not let my 5 yr old into kindergarten based on a copy of her birth cert. I personally think the lady at the school was being overly bitchy but it is the rules and I was told to not to come back until I had my kid's original..so now I wait still...so what are so wrong about our rules of who becomes our president? Produce an original and there is nothing more to talk about then? Right?

re: #139 search4truth

The big deal is that this nonsense was answered once and for all a long time ago:

[Link: www.snopes.com...]

It's not his fault that a bunch of deliberately dense morons refuse to accept the truth of his birth in Hawaii and his citizenship. Hawaii isn't obligated to open their vaults for those people, either. They provided the same document they'd provide for anyone else. Case closed.

141 search4truth  Wed, Apr 28, 2010 2:40:03pm

re: #140 Lidane

If it was answered with a true bonifide birth certificate, then personally I am fine with it. However, even the lowest of we poor people are demanded a birth certificate so I have noticed among people (especially of the far left persuasion) that they are offended by obama even being asked for it in the beginning. I have had to wait weeks for my child's birth certificate to even enroll her in kindergarten which is not compulsatory in our state by the way. I just have seen the far left whine and complain about even being asked in the beginning to even see it..when that is a requirement by law for president.

re: #141 search4truth

If it was answered with a true bonifide birth certificate, then personally I am fine with it.

It was answered with the very same document that Hawaii would give to anyone else who requested one. That document was good enough when Barack Obama went through the federal background checks for his security clearances as a Senator, making it good enough for his Presidential run. Period.

Get over it already. The man is a natural born American citizen. Hawaii acknowledges this, as does the federal government. It's over. There's nothing more to say about it.

143 pre-Boomer Marine brat  Wed, Apr 28, 2010 3:34:34pm

Heh. Why do I get the distinct impression that "Talk to the Hand" in the post's title implies a well-deserved ... (cough) ... "digital" response?

I loved the supremely idiotic theory someone out there barfed up about BHO's grandparents having inserted those birth announcements into the Honolulu papers just so their new-born grandson would be considered eligible (someday) to run for President.

/the flat-earth society obviously has some serious competition

144 SixDegrees  Wed, Apr 28, 2010 4:16:26pm
state officials say they still get between 10 and 20 e-mails each week seeking verification of Obama’s birth.

Good news, in the sense that the goof-o-sphere is capable of much, much greater acting out than this, given even slight provocation. It indicates that this problem, while it may be grossly magnified through the Internet's usual mechanisms, is awfully damn tiny in real life.

Even more so, given that we're talking about emails here, which cost nothing to send and require no thought at all. Even if these were written, mailed requests, though, it's a pretty dismal effort.

Good on Hawaii for clamping down on this, even if it manages to affect as many as several dozen people worldwide.

But it really isn't' that simple for folks like you. You see, the laws HAVE been met. It's that simple, but the story drags on and on. It's like trying to end a conversation with a child who repeatedly questions each new answer with "Why?". It never ends.

We all have seen the COLB posted by the Annenberg people. You are right. It looks legit, probably is legit, and it is prima facie evidence that he was born in Hawaii. However, as I am sure you know, the COLB is an electronic document recently produced from data stored on a computer. It is not the same thing as the original birth certificate that was initially issued to his parents on his birth and does not contain all of the same information. The original document will have additional information. It may list the hospital that he was born in, the doctor that delivered him and other interesting tidbits. Amendments may also reflect information concerning his adoptions, etc.

One does not need to be a racist dirty birther or even question his eligibility to be interested in seeing his original birth certificate and the additional tidbits that might be on it. Obama is the most powerful man on the planet and a major historic figure. Historians now and in the future will always be very interested in the minute details of his background, just like they are interested in the background of all US Presidents.

We have a Birther in the wild, asking questions! I thought they had all migrated to warmer climes by now.

Lovely plumage.

So what exactly is your motivation to want to see it? Idle curiosity? Yeah sure. Have you ever been this curious about any OTHER US president's birth certificate, and the 'tidbits' it contains?

Obama is the most powerful man on the planet and a major historic figure. Historians now and in the future will always be very interested in the minute details of his background, just like they are interested in the background of all US Presidents.

Strange then that in no high-school or college history text I've ever read, has the birth certificate of any US president in the long line of them ever even been mentioned.

The hospital he was born in is known. Both local Hawaiian newspaper printed his birth announcement on Apr 4, 1961. The only realistic choices here, are that either:
A) He was in fact born in Hawaii
B) He is the product of a vast 50 year conspiracy to conceal his birthplace, and by doing so, help to groom him from birth to take the presidency and impose moderate-leaning-left policy on the USA.

In fact, only the first of those choices is even remotely realistic.
