Did I mention that LGF Pages is turning into a full-featured blogging tool for any registered LGF user? I did?

Well, it took another step in the mutational process today, with the addition of a free-form tagging system.

“Tags” are words or phrases associated with an LGF Page; there are very few rules on what can be a tag. For example, in a page about Sarah Palin, you might want to use the tags “Alaska” and “Death Panels.” It’s completely up to you which tags you assign to your pages.

Tags can contain more than one word; the only rule for entering tags is to separate them with commas. For example, here are the tags I assigned to a page about the recent British election results:

British National Party, BNP, Nick Griffin, Neo-Nazis, White Supremacists, Britain, Searchlight

Tags aren’t much good unless there’s also a way to use them for searching and displaying pages, so there’s a new text input field in the right sidebar labeled “Tags.” You can enter a tag in this field and hit Return to display all pages tagged with that term.

And you can enter more than one tag, separated (again) with commas. If you enter more than one tag, you can use the popup menu next to the “Tags” field to choose between “AND” and “OR” modes; “AND” mode shows pages containing all the tags, and “OR” mode shows pages containing any of the tags.

A page’s tags are displayed below the “Text” field; clicking on a tag will put it in the “Tags” field and reload the page, to quickly display all pages with that tag.

You can combine all of the controls; for example you can show all pages by a certain Name with certain Tags, within a certain range of dates, in a certain Category. The possibilities are endless.

And one more biggie: the “Text” character limit of 2048 has been raised to 16K, to allow you more freedom to express all the verbosity within you.
