Mark Souder: Creationist Activist on Capitol Hill
An interesting footnote to the Mark Souder scandal: he was also one of the main promoters of creationism (in its “intelligent design” disguise) on Capitol Hill.
I was going to post the following video of Souder being “interviewed” by his mistress Tracy Jackson, about the very influential role he played in trying to get creationism into science classes through the ID backdoor, but former Rep. Souder has been deleting all the videos in which he appeared with Jackson from his YouTube channel.
I watched the video before it was disappeared; Souder boasts about his connections to the creationist think tank Discovery Institute, says he was the one who introduced Rick Santorum to the “intelligent design” scam, and says he was responsible for parts of Ben Stein’s ridiculous and extremely deceptive anti-evolution film “Expelled.”
Souder wasn’t just a hypocritical “family values” guy — he was an activist working hard to push right wing anti-evolution pseudo-science into the classrooms of America, a busy little theocratic horndog implementing the Discovery Institute’s Wedge Strategy.
America is much better off today without him in Washington.
UPDATE at 5/18/10 4:56:47 pm:
The Sensuous Curmudgeon has been on to Souder’s creationist hijinks for a while: Mark Souder, Creationist Fool, Resigns!
