The GOP’s Newest Star: Far Crazier Than Rand Paul
Rand Paul’s getting all the media attention for his ludicrous comments about the Civil Rights Act and the BP oil spill, but he is actually far from the most extreme Republican nominated last week.
Meet Arthur Robinson, who won the GOP nomination for Oregon’s 4th Congressional District.
Mr. Robinson is so full of bad craziness he makes Rand Paul look sane, a prodigious feat. Robinson is a climate change denier (he’s the huckster who concocted the “Oregon Petition Project”), a survivalist, a young earth creationist, a theocrat, and of course, a home schooler.
And when I say “home schooling,” I mean complete cultural separatism.
Home schooling is no more than a tool that can be used to keep a child out of the World.
If a young person is kept out of the World, the Lord will raise him (or her). Little else is necessary. The links to the Lord are already built into the child. He will follow those links and will directly help the child. All children receive this help. Parents really need do very little in addition.
He’s the perfect candidate for what the GOP has mutated into — the party of throwbacks and reactionaries.
