PayPal Shuts Down Pamela Geller

Wingnuts • Views: 9,448

Pamela Geller has received a notice from PayPal that she’s in violation of their acceptable use policy regarding sites that “promote hate,” and told that in order to prevent closure of her account she must remove all PayPal logos and forms from her over-the-top anti-Muslim sites atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com, sioaonline.com, and freedomdefense.typepad.com.

Geller reacts to PayPal’s ruling that she’s inciting hatred by … wait for it … inciting hatred against PayPal. She tells her readers to deluge PayPal with angry emails, and calls them “pathetic Paypal pussies.” Yeah, that’ll work.

Her latest claim is that Obama has outed himself as a seekrit Moooslim to the foreign minister of Egypt:

[...] Egyptian Foreign Minister Abul Gheit said on the "Round Table Show" that he had had a one on one meeting with Obama who swore to him that he was a Moslem, the son of a Moslem father and step-son of Moslem step-father, that his half-brothers in Kenya were Moslems, and that he was loyal to the Moslem agenda. He asked that the Moslem world show patience. Obama promised that once he overcame some domestic American problems (Healthcare), that he would show the Moslem world what he would do with Israel.

So much of what goes on in the political/media sphere nowadays seems to boil down to just that though. 'Okay, so our side got caught acting like animals and idiots, but what about their side, huh?'

Why do people think there's always some equivalency somewhere? Why would it be an excuse if in fact there was? Why do people think it breaks down to 'our side' and 'their side' anyway?

Well, actually, I intended my little story to be just a little lighthearted story.

Really, I did.

But of course, what I learned from that incident, as well as many others is that I should pay attention to how I'm acting, not just blindly do whatever someone else is doing.

Overall: 1132 out of 2420
Men: 623 out of 1058
M 45-49: 41 out of 68
Age/Grade: 42.09% Place: 1188
Finish: 33:57 Pace: 10:56
Tag Time: 33:57

For the conspiracy theorists. It looks like Pay Pal did the same thing to "Jesus General":

Support The Gospel of Teaparty Jesus
PayPal won't allow me to use them for blog donations, but you can support the godly, patriotic work I do by clicking here.

...Anyway, they denied my appeal and told me to remove PayPal links from my homepage. Wanting to keep my account open, I removed the links and filed a second appeal.

PayPal responded, informing me that I had won my appeal, thanking me for removing the links, and warning me that my account will be discontinued if I link to them on this blog, again. No, I don't know what that means either. I won the appeal, but my blog is still too Slzrd intolerant to be a part of the PayPal family, I guess.

That's where it stands now.

I could have avoided all this by writing those kumbaya-love-everyone posts like PayPal users Atlas Shrugs and The Jawa Report post. But damn it, I'm a Tea Party chaplain. I have to tell it like I imagine it is.

So, the PayPal links are gone. You can no longer show your support for this blog by clicking a donation link, but if you like the way my Level 80 Tauren shaman, Patriotboy, plays World of Warcraft (Gnomeregan server) or even if you know nothing about Wow, but like to think of me as being a big ol' battle cow for Christ, you can donate here.

And Rahm Emanual can plant his alien lizard scale lips on my amply human-fleshed butt.

*Or maybe it was another post. I don't know. They refused to be specific.

It ain't easy being a Tea Party chaplain.

This site would be considered opposite of Atlas Shrieks.

(Note, this is not an endorsement of Jesus General)

Dear Lord.. I posted the whole story here years ago..Here is the Reader's Digest version..Wink
So after being robbed of about 3000 dollars in Diamonds I bought in the Diamond District..You know where I'm talking about...
It was a weekday evening and a bunch of my buddies wanted to go out...I blew them off...Late at night there was a knock on my door..Fuck you guys..
Another knock...I was naked with just a sheet on me watching TV..Another knock..Fuck you guys...Then some guy opens and walks down the hallway to the foot of my bed..We both freaked out...
I chased him Naked with only a sheet on down 12 stairs of the southside Philly Travel lodge in Philly...Honest to God..I was chasing him down stairs with only a sheet on Screaming I'm going to kick your ass...And him yelling back you ain't catching me white boy!
I honest to God went running into the Lobby with only a sheet on screaming catch that man! Do you know they will almost arrest a man in Philly out of breathe screaming in a Hotel lobby?
Did...You...See...that...Guy???
No..
Fucker got away..It's a great Philly Story

I go run a 5K race (came in under 34 minutes, by the way, and my goal was under 35 min), watch the US tie England thanks in large part to some crappy goal-tending, and take my dogs to the beach (complete with drive-thru burger treats for them afterward), and I come home to this? Pay-pal dissing the lovely Ms. Gellar*? What is the world coming to?

* note: by 'lovely Ms. Gellar' I'm using what is commonly known as sarcasm.

And once again, your are confusing Geller with Gellar, which is unforgivable.

Crazy Pam's source for the Obama is a Muslim is "Israel Today" and it appears they made up there mind about the issue last year in a editorial:

"Nevertheless, there is no doubt that President Mubarack (“Blessed one” in Arabic) Hussein Obama is the son of a proud member of a Sunni Muslim tribe in Kenya, the same tribe that massacred Kenyan Christians a few years ago.

According to the Islamic faith, if a father was a Muslim, so is the son, Obama.

There is no debate, either, that his white mother remarried a second husband, also a Sunni Muslim, who lived with Obama in Indonesia for a number of years. Obama attended a madrassa (Islamic school) until age 11 and prayed at the local mosque. "
The story is going viral on the net today, 100 of right wing sites running with it.
BTW, there are more then a few factual errors in the above. I'd bet a beer Obama if there is any truth to the story, it was statement that he's made in the past about his Muslim roots, but not a comment about his faith.

Israel Today.

Heh...Jerry Brown takes on Sarah Palin's bullshit on Fox (I know, a lot of you don't like Brown because he had a nickname of "moonbeam"...but the clip is still worth watching)...

The moonbeam thing was always bullshit, he wanted and California eventually got an emergency communications satellite. We still use it, that was some forward thinking leadership and the guy who gave him the nickname later came to repudiate it:

The nickname was coined by Mike Royko, the famed Chicago columnist, who in 1976 said that Mr. Brown appeared to be attracting “the moonbeam vote,” which in Chicago political parlance meant young, idealistic and nontraditional.

The term had a nice California feel, and Mr. Royko eventually began applying it when he wrote about the Golden State’s young, idealistic and nontraditional chief executive. He found endless amusement — and sometimes outright agita — in California’s oddities, calling the state “the world’s largest outdoor mental asylum.”

“If it babbles and its eyeballs are glazed,” he noted in April 1979, “it probably comes from California.”

But as any New Age Californian can tell you, such hate is probably cover for a deeper love. And so it was with Mr. Royko, who after many vicious gibes at Mr. Brown’s expense offered an outright apology to the governor, and spent years trying to erase the moniker.

In a 1991 column in The Chicago Tribune, he called the label, an “idiotic, damn-fool, meaningless, throw-away line,” and pleaded with people to stop using it.

“Enough of this ‘Moonbeam’ stuff,” Mr. Royko concluded. “I declare it null, void and deceased.”

My wife Rachel, who monitors Arab language broadcasts for Israel Radio, picked up a revealing statement on the “Round Table Show” on Egypt’s Nile TV."

More on Moonbeam:

As Governor, Brown proposed the establishment of a state space academy and the purchasing of a satellite that would be launched into orbit to provide emergency communications for the state—a proposal similar to one that was indeed eventually adopted. In 1978 in a Rolling Stone interview Linda Ronstadt called her then boyfriend, Jerry Brown, her "Little Moonbeam".

Mike Royko picked it up from there.

Both the space academy and the emergency satellite were eminently workable ideas that fell afoul of the frivolous connotation attached to spaceflight by much of what passed for mainstream society in the cultural desert of the 70s. The idea behind the space academy was to provide a professional training facility to support of the state's enormous aerospace industry. It would have been analogous to such institutions as the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
As the article notes, the emergency satellite proposal was eventually adopted.

222 Mocking Jay  Sat, Jun 12, 2010 5:43:45pm

OT: Prayer, Confession and the Police

The use of a defendant's faith to get a confession is not unusual. In California, for example, police got a confession from a woman after the detective told her, "There's something up above, bigger than both of us looking down saying, 'Celeste, you know that you shot that person in San Carlos and it's time to purge it all.'" Other cases have followed the same pattern.

You know, I really don't have a problem with this. You have the right to remain silent. Exercise it.

I love my IR blaster , but sometimes it has a mind of its own and refuses to blast. Pop one of the AAA's out and back in, and it works again. Very strange.

The EyeTV HD's IR blaster plugs into a jack on the unit, then the unit plugs into a powered USB port on the computer and gets all its power from that. No batteries or AC adaptors/cables.

Inputs: component video with L/R audio, or S-video with L/R audio. My only complaint is a relatively minor one; it doesn't support optical audio input for surround sound. Most HD cable boxes have an optical audio output.

Right now my guess would be Jindal.

Jindal does seem to be redeeming himself a bit, with this spill crisis.

This sort of thing is exactly what Jindal handles really well - unfortunately, it's the ONLY type of thing Jindal handles really well. You can't run a government with no abilities except the ability to handle a crisis, because a crisis won't necessarily happen on your watch, one would hope.

Heh. Before the recession, I thought my CEO was lousy. He just was uninspired, seemed bored all the time.

Then the recession hit, and he was jumping around like a madman, and managed to keep the company afloat through difficult times. Lots of people were let go, but everyone got let go on the first of the month (for the health insurance coverage), they gave one months' notice and two months' severance, and they announced they would not contest unemployment for anyone. The executive team took a salary freeze and no bonuses, too. He rented out some unused space we weren't using, and translated that directly into keeping some people employed. He was great in the crisis.

I wish they could keep two CEOs around, a crisis one and a visionary one, and switch 'em off as needed.

re: #266 Gus 802

Was hoping you would chime in.

Heh.
Jindal is a really odd fellow.

When he speaks, he seems so open and likeable.

But he runs his office in a very closed, almost secretive way.
He won't talk with non-appointed Department heads when they call the Gov's office asking for a meeting. He won't even assign someone to talk with them, which is what previous governors have done.

People I know who worked for him when he ran Louisiana's DHH really do not like him at all. He doesn't seek out the opinions or expertise of others, nor will he pay attention to it when others have legitimate and well-thought-out disagreements with him. He just ignores it all. Just really strange.

The best run Department I ever worked for was headed by an elected official who spent very little time in his office. Most of the time he was out an about, walking the halls, popping into people's offices just to chat, see what was going on, or on the road visiting the satellite offices. Every new employee got a meeting with him. Every new employee, even the janitors, and he made everyone feel special.

Jindal rarely leaves his office or meets with anybody, except his personally chosen circle. It's really odd, and IMO, not a good way to run something as big as a State government (or the Federal Government). You have to know what's going on - and to do that you have to be out and about, and willing to listen to the people doing the work who know what's really happening.

I meant Bill. He's well liked all over the world. That's a great thing. He did great for the U.S., too. For Israel, no. If Arafat accepted his offers, it would have been terrible for Israel. That's part of what I mean by learning from past presidencies.

I've always liked Hillary, but I can't get a grip on her foreign policy. I think the whole Israeli-insult-settlement stir up could have been handled better from our end, but then maybe everyone screwed up there.

Even if he were not supporting the stealth creationist bill lurking under the radar, there are still other problems with Jindal as a candidate for the Presidency. For reasons I explained above, I think he just does not have the skills necessary to build a team that will function well on the national stage. For a while we went through a phase here of sticking the same number of pink lawn flamingos onto a birthday person's yard. Under cover of darkness, of course.
Thirty or so of them can make an impressively tacky display./

I love the pink plastic flamingos.

If you do tacky just right, it can turn out OK.
Of course, I keep my pink plastic flamingos in the back, near my patio, where I can see and enjoy them, but the neighbors don't get upset.

Oh, and the "flag" on my mailbox is - a pink flamingo. Love it!

Jerry Brown would be a good governor.

I remember him as one before.

In face his name is on my architecture diploma, I graduated when Jerry Brown was Governor.

He was progressive in the best sense.

He appointed Sim van der Ryn as state Architect, and a lot of solar and sustainable stuff was done there for a while.

Which if it had been followed up on generally, would have unfunded the Saudis.

I'm for Jerry "You Betcha"

& Palin looks like a jerk there.

I "met" Jerry Brown once in SF. He was busy fuming because he had to wait until some photo op celebrity showed up, and it was kind of funny because he was there to show interest in the event the celebrity was scheduled to visit. But he was too hacked about the lost time to chill and actually, like, take an interest for real in the event.

On the other hand, Brown has taken the duties of his office seriously. As mayor of Oakland, quite a comedown from gov of CA, he worked at the job and made a difference.

I'm a Republican, and it's clear to me that the Democrats are in a you broke it you bought it situation as far as CA's fiscal woes go, but I'd vote for Brown. Men who put their responsibilities first and work at them are scarce and precious in politics.

It's faster than firefox or the previous Safari.

In fact, I was using firefox before but downloaded Safari 5, and switched to it permanently. Firefox does weird stuff with "add-ons" that I could never figure out. And every now and then all the open tabs would go blue, just blue, and I'd have to close out and reopen. Got tired of it, and when Safari 5 worked better for me, faster, I switched.

With FF, I could click and the link would automatically highlight, then I could "copy". With Safari, I have to click, drag the mouse across the link, and then copy. FF was easier (for me) that way. But Safari is just faster and no little glitches, like the pages turning all blue. That was strange.

I have a macbook, and when I tried to upgrade to Safari 5 on that, it told me the macbook operating system wasn't up to date, so I had to go update that first. Maybe check to see if there are any software updates for your computer?

I'm not quite all of the way there with you, but part of the way. I think that in general terms a D will do better with the state government in cutting back than an R would, just because the D can get support where the R can't. It's a freaky way to vote, but politics are local, right.

re: #294 albusteve

not sure, but it sounds bad

It is bad. If we get hit, it'll be up to the civilians of the disaster area to cobble together a response. We'll have to slap together our own fallout shelters by piling books on a table and stacking furniture around the sides. We'll have to mount our own rescue operations. Some will have to stand outside in fluffy fallout ash fighting fires until they've picked up so many REM's they have no chance.

If you have water (the toilet tank is quite drinkable) you can hold out for weeks with virtually no food. You can use a chamber pot and dump the waste outside; quick trips into the hot zone are fairly safe.

Help will come, eventually, but going by the form we've shown with this oil spill, it won't come fast and it won't come organized.

Our enemies won't stay their hand; if they can do it, they will. They can't incinerate the U.S. They would if they could, but they can't. What they can perhaps do is hit two or three cities with Hiroshima style bombs, and kill a hundred thousand of us. That will leave some three hundred million. From the perspective of the great wars of history, it would be a mere pinprick.

Our enemies aren't thinking straight, or they'd see that this pinprick would be the start of a chain of events that could go almost anywhere, but down all roads lies their ruin and our victory.

We should have some contingency plans for this escalation of the war. It probably wouldn't be necessary to retaliate with nukes against cities. That's harsh and the civilians of Iran, in particular, are more victims than agents of the Iranian regime. But if we haven't thought it through, reflex retaliation in kind might be the default response. Better, I'd think, would be a semi-conventional war, with tactical nukes to quickly settle any organized fight that was taking too long or going the wrong way.

re: #397 Dark_Falcon

We have a real problem in this state's politics, and it is in the legislature not the governor's mansion.

With the way California's constitution and laws work, we now have permanent gridlock in the legislature, because it takes a 2/3rds majority to make the changes that are needed.

One side only wants to raise taxes and not cut spending. The other side wants to only cut spending and not raise taxes. They never settle this, so every year we get into emergency legislation, and yet that still doesn't cover the debt and we're running out of credit space in the market.

The real answer, on which few politicians will campaign, is that we have to do both. We have to cut spending AND raise taxes. My hope is that Brown will champion reality and not party line dogma. If anyone can get the (D) majority block to go along with cutting some spending, and I mean not short term / temporary cuts like they've been doing but rather realigning the salary base and retirement promises more in line with reality, then Brown is the guy to do it. He won't do it though without some sort of concession from the (R) minority. The income tax rate is going to have to be raised.

As I said, I'm hoping Brown can cut through the mess and convince our fellow Californians that we have to permanently change some things.

Control+click(and hold) then select "copy link" from the menu. Alternatively click(hold) and drag. As an aside, on a macbook I find it helps workflow to have 'tap to click', 'dragging' and one of the two 'secondary click' options enabled in the trackpad preference pane.

The discretionary budget has already been (temporarily) trimmed. Yes, it could be cut some more, but the cuts are starting to get to the point where the effects are getting uncomfortable. Indeed, Arnold, in his latest proposal, put on the table some of the cuts that are possible and he did it (I am convinced) to play politics, not with the Dems but with his own party.

Again, the discretionary part of the budget can be cut, but the non-discretionary costs sit there as untouchable, and they are not small.

An R can't succeed though. Certainly Arnold was not an extremist and he got nowhere. Perhaps single-party governance is best since the accountability for success or failure can't be under dispute.

I'm not sure that is true. Any bankruptcy proceedings will most likely give priority to pensioners over, say, outside bond-holders or private contractors with outstanding (unpaid) bills.

The way to deal with the pension/salary issues has to political. The body politic in this state must accept what has to be done.

If BP is lying to us, the public, or if not outright lying, then withholding pertinent information, then they're also doing the same thing to the government agencies that are overseeing this effort.

At least that is what happened to me. I love to watch goldfish swimming around. I swear it is as good as yoga. But people don't often eat goldfish while froglegs are tasty. The hold part actually isn't necessary, just getting the secondary click. Control+click works for me, in Safari 5 on a macbook. Option+click will download the linked file, and Command+click will open the link in a new tab if you have that option enabled in the Safari tab preferences.

The multiple finger trackpad gestures are really useful, especially the two finger secondary click and three finger swipe for navigation. However I'm not sure if all of those are available on the older macbooks running Snow Leopard.

Whatever happened to tadpoles and fireflys?

They were abundant in the 70's when I was a mere urchin.

Although I live in the same state I can't remember the last firefly I have seen.

They must have all moved to the area of Georgia where I live and South Carolina where I have a place

Been in Georgia for 11 years now and I can;t ever remember seeing MORE fireflies

I will say that my main concern is the public sector unions, and I think it might be possible to cut them back without hammering private sector unions.

I will say that I feel less for public sector unions than I do for private sector unions, because private sector unions are dealing with people who have to turn a profit and what not and so in theory they'd probably they'd try to short change their employees more.

AIt should be said that the pruning back of unions does not necessarily lead to government being taken over by corporate interests. I accept people organizing for political and social purposes, though I only like it when it works in my favor (but still legal even when it works against me). But the unions have imposed expenses that cannot be paid, and that means they need to be cut back.

Yet this topic is one thing those taken in by the Libertarian Fundamentalism rarely comment upon. You could say the same thing for people living on the government dole, which of course is first extracted from the productive members of society who work and pay taxes. Once the number of people on assistance exceeds 50% of the population, they can enslave the rest. Until the whole system tumbles anyway. Where are we now? 40%? 45%?. You might be surprised at the number of people who pay zero Federal taxes or even worse, get a refund that exceeds how much they actually paid in through the beast known as the earned income credit.

How would one prove that case, given that the alternate scenario is not available to evaluate?

Hmmm... not sure there is an alternative scenario. Either private entities do benefit - such as pharmaceutical companies using the research results funded by taxes, or they don't.

You are probably thinking of a different, but similar, thesis than the one I've stated. Namely, that private entities would have benefitted more if they weren't taxed to begin with. That is something which would be hard to test, given that we don't have a control.

It all depends. The big issue with gov funding, is that, supposedly, those diseases that would not be profitable to address because of rarity, or difficulty, get attention. I do not know how this works out in real life. But meds were developed before pork barreled medications.
And govs will always be funding research because of Military concerns... Soldiers own these things called "bodies" and these "bodies" apparently need maintenance.

Because the alternative is a poor choice. As someone mentioned, Brown is both serious and dedicated, and experienced. I have more confidence in him making hard choices with all of California in mind, than his opponent.

Whitman is no Fiorina, fortunately, so even if she does win it won't be a disaster. Whitman though has been pulled too far right for my tastes, by the ultra-right, tea partying crowd that is trying to take over the GOP.

I agree, but I think Whitman will go left to meet Brown. You campaign farther right to beat out the other Republicans, then you move back to center for the statewide.

Eisenhower played a mean game of bridge. And he didn't have to resign ahead of the impeachment posse.

Recommended reading if you are into the whole bridge game meets murder kind of thing:

[Link: www.amazon.com...]

From Publishers Weekly
The innocuous game of bridge turned deadly in Kansas City, Mo., in 1929 when Myrtle Bennett apparently shot her husband dead in a dispute over a game. In recounting this tale, Pomerantz introduces an ensemble of 1920s characters ranging from Ely Culbertson, who helped fuel the new bridge craze, to Fightin' Jim Reed, the U.S. senator from Kansas City who successfully defended the gorgeous Myrtle Bennett at trial. As promoted by Culbertson, bridge was a zone of equality between men and women—and the stage on which marital spats could escalate; it was, said Culbertson, a way to defuse the petty inhibitions and tensions of daily married life. Pomerantz (Wilt, 1962) offers a thoroughly researched historical tapestry with a mass of amusing anecdotes. But toward the book's end, he swerves into his own fascination with Myrtle Bennett as leading to his historical inquiry into these events. The most eloquent explanation of the similarities between a bridge partnership and marriage comes not from Pomerantz but from family therapist/bridge addict Frank Bessing, quoted in the book: the main conflict is often, 'Who is in charge?'

In the creationist community there is a new DVD making the rounds:
Dragons Or Dinosaurs: Creation Or Evolution

The producer's website says:

DRAGONS OR DINOSAURS? will mark Cloud Ten Pictures' 8th documentary, and is the follow-up to the popular conspiracy documentary SHADOW GOVERNMENT, released in the fall of last year to passionate followers and rave reviews. Best known for their end-times feature films like LEFT BEHIND and REVELATION, Cloud Ten couldn't pass up the chance to explore the exciting world of Dragons.

Yeah, nothing inspires great documentaries on dinosaurs like conspiracy movies...

Further:

Featuring interviews from the leading minds at Answers in Genesis, Creation Ministries International, the Institute for Creation Research, Watchmen 33 and FACT, DRAGONS OR DINOSAURS? is sure to shake things up in the age-long debate of creation versus evolution.

If those are the "leading" minds, I'm afraid to ask about those trailing behind.

Wait. Are you a Muslim Martian?

OMG, you mean there are Muslims on Mars too?? Well, there goes the solar system. Next thing you know, it'll be an intergalactic conspiracy.

Good reference, if a little obscure. I haven't seen that name in years.

Wait, Kenya is on Mars? My geography is off

You'd be amazed at all the names they nicked, (meaning the first earth settlers) they'd have gone with New Kenya but it would have given the game away.

As way of proof that there's a Kenya on Mars, have you every really THOUGHT about Birmingham Alabama? Well I can reveal that there is a Birmingham in England as well!

Was there really an Israeli paper? The Harpy linked to the nutters I posted the link to.

Odd, I went back to the link to Isreal Today and can't find the story that was there this A.M. Here's my earlier post and it had a link to the paper, but now it goes to another blog.

OK, we should be able to check Pam's "scoop" on Obama Muslim story, there has to be a tape:

"Victor Mordecai, writing in the May 2010 edition of Israel Today (PDF, 4MB), offers this report which, as yet, is unconfirmed by an independent source such as MEMRI.
My wife Rachel, who monitors Arab language broadcasts for Israel Radio, picked up a revealing statement on the “Round Table Show” on Egypt’s Nile TV."

In the creationist community there is a new DVD making the rounds:
Dragons Or Dinosaurs: Creation Or Evolution

The producer's website says:

If those are the "leading" minds, I'm afraid to ask about those trailing behind.

If it weren't likely to attract the ignorant, it would simply be funny. As it is, it has a mournful humor quality to it.

Goodnight, all.

From SixPackTech -

Saturday Night Blue Collar Brew Review -
Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat

The beer poured with that familiar cloudy, yellow-orange color that unfiltered wheat beers usually come in. Lots of micro-bubbles slowly rose from the bottom and there was a nice, thick, white creamy head to gaze upon. The aroma was of a beery flavor, not overpowering but enough to fill up the nares.

The first sip had a wonderful flavor, nicely citrus along the lines of a nectarine and the center of the sip was nice and full. The liquid tended to thin out towards the end of the sip, leaving the flavor behind, coating the center of the tongue. Right from the start, this had lawnmower beer written all over it.

The front of the sip had that slightly sweet fruity flavor, while the middle bolstered the taste department. The back end, right before the swallow, had very little zip to offer but the taste and flavor of the beer made it a nonissue.

Then, about the middle of the first glassful, the wheat flavor came forward. Now we’re talkin’. The beer became a nectar and filled up the taste buds to capacity. The thinness of the liquid went away (maybe it was just that my tongue was too thick.)

Each sip began to roll down my gullet as if they were on ball bearings. The pauses in between sips gave me a slight reminder of the last vestiges of taste of nectarine or maybe even a pineapple fruit drink. Absolutely delicious.

-

This is a nice, smooth, easy drinking beer, perfect for the summer. Whether you’re sitting out on the patio or on the front porch watching traffic go by, this beer will very properly punctuate the entire day for you in a couple of sips. It’s flavorful enough to please and not too much of anything else that would tie the tongue in knots. And at 5% ABV, you can make the taste last the entire day. If you bought enough.

Ho Hincos. Another busy Saturday for me. Had two gigs today, the first a festival in godfrorsaken nothern Virginia and my monthly acoustic duo restaurant gig. Missed most of the first set because of the festival gig and the inability of VA people to give good directions back to the beltway. But both went well. It's nice to have fun playing music and get paid twice in one day.

I think I'm going to skip the 40 mile ride I was planning to go on with my bike club tomorrow - post gig beers are keeping me up and it's 1:27 AM now. I need to mow the lawn and do laundry anyway, so I think that's what I'll do. Maybe grill something too.

Even if, for argument's sake, the Egyptian FM said what he is alleged to have said i.e. that the POTUS intends to follow a "Muslim" agenda, what basis would there be to believe that Obama actually said it? That anyone with the slightest respect for fairness or truth would adopt such scandalous allegations as being true without any meaningful fact-checking is simply inexcusable.

Why can't spending simply be cut without raising income taxes?

Because CA is in too deep a financial hole. There has to be more revenue. But spending has to be cut drastically, and that means voiding the unaffordable contracts.

re: #337 Dark_Falcon

Well, I would argue Ronald Reagan was at least a partial exception. Circumstances made Carter vulnerable, but having the right candidate gave the GOP the win.

Circumstances largely of his own making. The man had all the backbone of a jellyfish. With the exception of the Camp David accords, a disaster from start to finish. Hugged our enemies and ignored their human rights violations, left our friends high and dry while publicly noting everything they'd done wrong, Mr. Rogers in his cardigan. He ran on the slogan "A government as good as the people it serves", then ran things into the ground so the people would be as badly off as their government. Domestic policy disaster after disaster, no backbone when Iran seized our embassy.

Great intentions do not a great Presidency make.

re: #230 avanti

In read his books, and watched him in action and I'll give you that he's naive. He thinks you can rationalize with irrational leaders. i.e. he really believed he could sway bad guys to do good things.

So did Jimmy Carter. See above. The irony is that Carter, for all his incompetence, did find the one Arab leader with the guts to make peace.

What? A man consumed with greed can be far more destructive than the American government.

A sufficiently rich man or woman IS the government in many cases. It depends on the location and population density of an area.

re: #542 sattv4u2

P O R K

Case in point. When Nixon won his reelection in 72, Massachusetts was the only state that voted against him.

As a consequence, he decimated the economy by closing military bases and halting gov't contracts to private companies there

I saw this up close and personal, btw

Of course, some of the "retaliation" was a reduction in the enormous and outsized contracts and such that went to Massachusetts when JFK was president and/or John McCormack was Speaker of the House. MA's share of the pork pie went from large to huge under JFK, Nixon cut it down and then some (in retaliation). He was more blatant about it than most.

Almost every President gets goodies for his home state, which never refuses them. Those same states sure scream when another President cuts them back down.

666 Charles Johnson  Sun, Jun 13, 2010 9:30:54am

The wingnut blogs are in a fine frenzy over this today. It's hilarious; they're all acting as if PayPal has no reason at all to classify Geller's sites as "promoting hate."

When it's flat out obvious that she does.

And they're all passing around that hypocritical, dishonest Ace of Spades post as if it's a work of genius, and high-fiving each other that Ace really "smacked" me that time.

It's like reading the rantings of evil-minded children.
