The Gore Affair

Humor • Views: 2,824

Drudge Report has his flashing siren going, because Star Magazine is publishing a story claiming that Al Gore had an affair.

Yawn.

The only interesting part of this will be watching the global warming deniers freak out. They’ll be unable to resist trying to tie Gore’s affair to the climate change issue, which will undoubtedly lead to some really goofy pretzel logic. Should be fun.

Was this affair while he was in office, or after he left? If it was after he left office, huge yawn.

If it was in office, did it interfere with his official duties? If it didn't, then a big yawn.

If it did interfere with his official duties, then I guess we'd have to know what was going on and all that.

In any event, it isn't like I was using him as my role model. Besides, I'm far more green than he is.

It's interesting how "An Inconvenient Truth" can apply to more than just climate change...

I was watching some "talking heads" program not long ago that was talking about the Gore split, and they were rationalizing about how their break-up was supposedly amicable and that there was no infidelity going on, and they were stating that since the average lifespan has increased so dramatically that marriage was harder to maintain because it lasted so much longer than in the past.

Experts. My ass.

The original posting here was interesting in that while I don't like Sanford or Gore and am only marginally interested in their behavior one of the reasons I don't read LGF very much anymore is that I distinctly remembered many references to Mark Sanford as "Creationist Mark Sanford", which then went on to discuss his Appalachian Trail fairytales. If I thought it gratuitous and unfair then, it's gratuitous and unfair to couple (whoops, sorry about the phrasing) Gore and whatever his shenanigans will turn out to be.

Sort of pot meet kettle sort of thing. I'm just sayin' . . .

Bomb away, guys.

OT - Beck also published a new book. It's a thriller.

Glenn Beck's paranoid thriller, "The Overton Window"

The novel's evil mastermind is Arthur Gardner, a public relations genius who devised the Pet Rock fad, turned Mao and Che into counterculture fashion statements, created faux ailments such as restless leg syndrome for the drug industry and lifted several presidents to the White House regardless of party affiliation -- "ideology was just another interchangeable means to an end." Now he believes the American experiment in self-government has failed, and with the secret consent of the power elite, he is poised to manipulate the public to welcome his ultimate coup -- literally, the takeover of the nation, a "new beginning" as he puts it, "one world, ruled by the wise and the fittest and the strong, with no naive illusions of equality or the squandered promises of freedom for all."

Well, it's not a new house (and I've been it for a couple of years now) - and I can checkoff that I've done the garage door, front and side door, and the roof exactly as I indicated I would in that posting. As such, I've saved quite a few bucks in energy usage, and my car usage has dropped off the side of a cliff.

Before, I would put on about 20,000 miles a year between 2 cars. Now, I've put on about 12,000 miles.

Speaking of those twenty-somethings, two years ago, my friend's roommate got a boob job. And not one of these "just a little bigger" jobs, but a "please doctor, make me look like a porn star" boob job. (she looked ridiculous)

She started having really bad back problems and had them removed a few months back. (She looks 10 times better now) Somebody should have told her that, if you are a relatively tiny woman who weighs about 100 lbs, you probably shouldn't be buying yourself a pair of double-D's.

SPOILER -- this is how Beck's book ends:

The story line, which fictionalizes Beck's well-known paranoia about a secret Big Government plan to crush the liberties of well-meaning citizens, is an extended call to arms, a rallying cry to his angry foot soldiers long stirred by his rantings on Fox News. As the last line of the book warns, "We're everywhere. . . . The fight starts tomorrow."

I also don't see the need for Obama to meet with them. The government and BP are cummunicating and I don't see how a meeting of Obama and CEO's is going to improve anything.

Indeed.
I was kind of surprised that people were doing the outrage dance because Obama had not met with Hayword.

and wow, Beck and race and white CEO's and the hating Jews and Obama...that is one mix up of crazy.

Releasing ARPANET for public use is about as close to "inventing" the internet as you can get. Hyperbolic? Yes. Basically accurate? Yes.

Exactly. Obama seems to always strive to improve his image. He does not always succeed. I think this was another missed opportunity for him to do just that. Call all of them in for a chat. Set some comprehensive actions in motion. Take credit for any successes afterward.

Politics in action. Opportunity missed. Again.

Well we could argue all day over the definition of "create" versus "invent" then. But when someone says they "took the initiative in creating the Internet", they are pretty close.

Remember that Drudge became famous/beloved of the right wing by breaking the Lewinsky story and kick-starting the impeachment debacle. Honestly, I see a straight line trajectory from that sorry episode through the South Carolina crap that ended up handing the nomination to GW Bush in 2000 to the Glenn Beck/Ron and Rand Paul/Sharron Angle insanity of today.

I think it's really sad.

150 theheat  Tue, Jun 15, 2010 2:16:12pm

At this point, nobody knows what happened between Al and Tipper. Maybe he had an affair, maybe they both did - who knows? After the Tiger Woods fiasco, Jesse James, and John Edwards, I'm really hesitant to know any more than what's already been put out there about the Gores. These things get to be so gross, so detailed, so sensationalized...

So, I'm going with my own estimation of what happened. After 40 years, Tipper got tired of having sex with a fat guy. Woke up one morning, and said, "Whoa, yuck, I'm done with this." The End.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

151 funky chicken  Tue, Jun 15, 2010 2:18:46pm

Oh, and I can't stand Al Gore, and what on earth could a woman see in him now? I've never heard a wedding vow that says "till death do you part or, until such time as you choose".

Jewish law doesn't say " 'til death do you part." It simply says that the bride is consecrated to the groom; we've always had divorce (& now, we've got polygyny back, too (the ban was technically up on 2000) (-: )
