Rand Paul Supports Amendment to Deny Automatic Citizenship to Kids Born in the US

Lunatic Rand Paul announced today that he wants to change the US Constitution to take away the right to automatic citizenship for children born in the United States.

Rand Paul is a big believer in the US Constitution. Except those parts of it that have to do with civil rights and citizenship.

And the GOP leadership is welcoming him into the fold with a gala fundraiser at the National Republican Senatorial Committee headquarters: Establishment Republicans Help Rand Paul Raise Senate Campaign Money.

What a difference nine months makes. Kentucky Senate GOP nominee Rand Paul will be feted tonight at a fundraiser at National Republican Senatorial Committee headquarters. The hosts: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), NRSC Chairman John Cornyn (Texas), 10 other GOP Senators and eight House Republicans.

Back in September, the NRSC was the venue for a fundraiser for Paul’s GOP primary opponent, Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson. At the time, Paul’s campaign pointed to the event as an example of the establishment machine that Paul was trying to run against. But Paul went on to beat Grayson in their May primary and seems happy to allow the party establishment to show him some love.

Among those Members whose agreed to serve as hosts at both the September event for Grayson and tonight’s gathering for Paul are McConnell, Cornyn, and Sens. Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), Richard Burr (N.C.), Saxby Chambliss (Ga.), Tom Coburn (Okla.) and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (Ariz.).

A “welcome committee” at tonight’s $1,000 per ticket event will feature Sens. Bob Corker (Tenn.), Jim DeMint (S.C.), Kay Bailey Hutchison (Texas), James Inhofe (Okla.) and Roger Wicker (Miss.) as well as Reps. John Carter (Texas), John Culberson (Texas), John Duncan (Tenn.), Walter Jones (N.C.) and all four Members of Kentucky’s Republican House delegations.
