Levi Johnston Apologizes to Palin Family

US News • Views: 2,593

Shocka! After waging a war of words with Sarah Palin and her family for the past year, Levi Johnston is suddenly apologizing.

“Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true,” he tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize.”

I wonder how much that cost Palin? (I know, I’m dreadfully cynical.)

He’s doing this so he can see his son, completely understandable. Sarah Palin is one vindictive bitch.

WTF? Does that mean he’s not publishing his kiss-and-tell book about how Momma Grizzly took him under her wing?

That’s disappointing.

Access to loved ones can be a pretty powerful motivator.

This will be neither confirmed nor denied by Levi, though in a few months Sarah will be all over the TV saying that people were accusing her of holding the kid hostage for an apology…gotta get those victim points.

I don’t want to believe it, but if this is true, then it will be the single WORST thing I have seen Sarah Palin do for the sheer “wrongness” of it. Or at least it will be the thing that I can feel the most emotionally worked up over and as you all know with liberals how bad something feels is the same as how bad something is…. ;)

Bristol’s fucking rich now (she has a PR firm now…it’s all the rage, teen moms around the world are starting PR firms). Levi will probably pay child support anyway, because of the fact that the Palins would cut him off from his kid if he gave them the smallest excuse.

Bullshit on two points.

Both parents of a child are required to support it. It doesn’t matter how rich the custodial parent is, the non-custodial parent is required to pay.

Also, parenting time is not dependant on paying child support.

She needs a big scandal in the next three months to help her pitch her latest ghost-written book.

To be fair, child support is like social security. You don’t always pay it out because the person needs it, you do it because its part of the social contract…

The gurus who can actually see peoples’ karma and can therefore explain their suffering teach that one must still have compassionate. Metaphysical explanations should not alter human response, such as those who claimed that aid shouldn’t be sent to the victims of the tsunami in Asia because they deserved it because of their sins.

Right, but one should try to be fair and take one case at a time. An out-of-control son-in-law threatening to “expose” family private matters while posing for Playboy, or a blogger speculating on whether your latest child is really yours; these things were not Palin’s doing.

I doubt that visitation was an issue. If he’s the father, he could — if necessary — get a court to give him that. Levi behaved like a jackass. Period. His sudden change of heart is probably due to the fact that he realizes lots of people want nothing to do with him — except media types looking to bash Palin.

BTW, Rush is still a dick, he sure is enjoying our economic problems:

Rush Limbaugh said on his July 2 radio show that he believes Obama tanked the economy on purpose, both as “payback” for 230 years of racial oppression and because Obama simply doesn’t like America.

He railed: “Who is Obama? Why is he doing this? Why? Why is he doing it? Is he stupid? Is it an accident? Is he doing it on purpose or what have you? … I think we face something we’ve never faced before in the country — and that is, we’re now governed by people who do not like the country, who do not have the same reverence for it that we do. Our greatest threat (and this is saying something) is internal.”

If you believe that Liberals hate America or aren’t true Americans its a short jump from that to this…

I have no clue how courts establish child support payments, or what they do if a person is unemployed

I assume an unemployed person gets unemployment payments, and would be required to make some sort of child support payment from that? At any rate, if a person’s circumstances change, then support payments could change also, if the person petitioned the court.

I’m a bit taken aback here by what seems to be some folks’ idea that since the Palin family, and Bristol, might have more money than Levi, he should be excused from having to participate in the support of his child. That’s ridiculous.

I “believe” the amounts are still added up. You may not have to pay while you are out of work, but once you are employed, the state expects the payments to start including catching up on past amounts owed.

ROFLMAO!!!

Yours will have to be Dickhead #1, then, because his dickheadedness goes back further than Levi’s dickheadedness, wouldn’t you say?

Yeah I saw that after posting. I’m sorry for you having to put up with that. I don’t envy single moms, it’s not an easy road.

Meh. I’m fine with it. He’s not in our life at all. It’s well worth the measly amount of money. But, whoa to him if he ever tries to have contact. He’s a federal felon owing that much in back child support and I’d drop a dime on him in the blink of an eye.

AMEN!

BTW, the courts can impute an income for the unemployed or under-employed parent.

Exactly. It is not the money, it is about the principal of being an adult and being responsible for the life you helped create.

Of course he should pay, that goes without saying no matter what Bristol’s finances are (which are pretty good).

What the hell, I’ll share my story. I was a kid in a divorced house where my Mother denigrated my Father continuously, year after year after year. I think it was my child’s mind that said, “no one can be that bad!” and started to doubt the comments. Once I was old enough to act on my own I got back in touch with my wonderful Dad, and heard his side of the story. There’s always two sides you know. We have the best relationship and he is a good man. My mother blew it by trying to keep me on her side.

Speaking for myself, I didn’t mean to imply such a thing — I was just curious about how much the present income of the father/mother is a factor (or whether it’s a factor at all). Can’t speak for Fozzie, but I assumed he was making a joke.

My wife has a simliar story. THe kids were used as pawns by the mom. Truly sad. Everything eventually got ironed out (after many, many years), but my wife still tears up about the time lost when birthdays and holidays roll around.

Perfect. That is the way to defeat tobacco. The more you learn about it the more loathesome it becomes.

It could be because his body wast taken over by aliens. We have no idea why he did. We just know he did, the he posed in PB and acted like an ass. His motives are unknown - anything else is pure speculation and not based on facts.

Your hatred for her (and again I am not a Palin fan) is really showing when you speculate.

What’s pathetic is how both Sarah and Levi aired out this dirty laundry in public. At least the kid isn’t grown and is congitive of it. Speaking for myself I remember feeling real ackward when my mom’s parents would badmouth my dad because of his problems. It made me feel incredibly uncomfortable.

Yep, precisely. I mean I love my grandparents but I resented the hell when they would badmouth my dad in front of me. My dad isn’t and wasn’t perfect but he helped shape me in to the man I am. The other frustrating thing is that my dad’s mother was very kind to my mom. Hell I don’t remember her having a bad word to say about anyone now that I think of it.

I think the best course of cynicism is that we have a public battle between two teenagers, and people are trying to figure out where the ‘truth’ is. In such cases, there is no truth. And none of this should have been public fodder.

Cynicism also extends to the people who couldn’t get enough of this, not to mention those who kept calling this ‘news’.

I’m not sure what this has to do with the left or the right. If I can make a broad generalization; Mr. Johnson’s exploits probably caused him to be hated by many on the right and laughed at by many on the left; a bit of schadenfreude of the sort enjoyed by one party when somebody associated with the other party is an embarrassment. The left certainly didn’t take him in, any more than they have Larry Craig or Michael Steele.

Unremarkable people tend to fall particularly hard once they’ve spent their ill-gotten 15 minutes. This is a phenomenon that is unrelated to political belief systems.
