Tonight’s image from the Lizard Collection is the R. Crumb classic Motor City Comics, the first printing of issue #1, published in April 1969, featuring Boingy Baxter (a gangster with springs in his shoes) and the devastating Lenore Goldberg and Her Girl Commandos. This book is an R. Crumb creation from front to back.

The back cover is a hilarious send-up of Marxist rhetoric. (Crumb isn’t really a leftist; he’s just weird.)

Lord have mercy on the people in England for the terrible food these people must eat. And Lord have mercy on the fate of this movie and God bless the mind of the man in the street.
