Apple Gives Free Cases to iPhone 4 Owners

Technology • Views: 2,349

Apple’s Steve Jobs announced today that they will provide free cases for iPhone 4 owners to address the antenna signal problem that caused a slip in Apple’s stock price this week, after a negative review in Consumer Reports. MacRumors has an interesting interview with Jobs about this and other topics: Coverage of Apple’s iPhone 4 Press Conference.

They should just give free Droids to iPhone owners. Fix the problem once and for all.

Thank you, but I'll stick with my Motorola W490 for which I pay $100.00 per year for service.

Does it make phone calls? If so, it's better than the iPhone.

I have a Net10. I don't email, text or anything else. Best phone I have ever had. Never had a dropped call. And pay as you go.

Does it make phone calls? If so, it's better than the iPhone.

Calls almost never drop on my iPhone here in Los Angeles; I even did a long drive through the desert on I-10 recently and every time I checked the iPhone I had 4-5 bars.

I know that San Francisco doesn't have the greatest AT&T coverage, though.

Do you have any tips on browsing LGF on the iPhone? A lot of times the size of the page and the web-2.0-ness of it is too much for mobile safari to handle on my 3GS.

I wonder if the free cases were made in China.

Yes, it does. When it rings, it rings to a song of my choosing. And, most importantly, it's PURPLE!

21 reine.de.tout  Fri, Jul 16, 2010 12:03:41pm

I never have coverage problems with the iPhone here where I am. We have great ATT coverage.

I did get the iPhone 4, and there's so very much to like about it - I've never seen a display so crystal clear on a phone as this one, and it is much faster than the iPhone 3gs, and noticeably longer battery life.

However, for the first time ever, I lost all bars when I had my hand over the bar on the side of this phone. They came right back as soon as I moved my hand off.

So I did get the bumper and voila, problem solved!

Now I just have to go get my refund for that bumper . . .

What I can't understand for the life of me is how they didn't notice this flaw before releasing the phone to the public. I mean, it's not exactly hard to reproduce.

I saw a kid yesterday in front of the AT&T store next to where I work. They had phones on display. He was about 6 years old. He pointed at a phone and told his mom he wanted "that one" all his life. Heh.

It zooms fine, just seems to choke on a lot of LGF, usually forcing me back to the top of the comments.

When you're looking at lgF on the iPHone -
YOu need to watch the url bar, and before you do ANYTHING else, make sure the page has loaded COMPLETELY.

I have that problem you describe, when I hit "jump to the bottom" BEFORE the page has loaded completely.

Sure. My probs looking at LGF on the iPhone were considerably reduced if I do that.

I noticed it when once, I hit the "jump to the bottom" button on my desktop before the page was completely loaded, and it did the same thing my iPhone did - jumped me back to the beginning. The page loading takes longer on the iPhone than on your home computer, though it is much faster on the iPhone 4.

Seems much better, thanks. Was majorly annoying.

Also an app I've been enjoying today... if you're a firefox user on the desktop, is Firefox Home on the iPhone. Syncs your bookmarks, history, even open tabs to the phone. Lets you pick up right where you left off.

Yeah, it's not optimized for mobile devices. Haven't had time to work on that lately.

41 Walter L. Newton  Fri, Jul 16, 2010 12:20:57pm

It's been a nice three days off... I don't want to go to work today... 3:00-10:15 pm, and I know that after 8:00pm, Kroger corporate will have been so nice to only schedule two checkers for "closing." One register and the 6 station U-scan.

And of course, will will be so busy that we will have managers checking, the service desk people off the service desk checking and also trying to check full baskets of stuff at U-scan. Got to love the "Engineered Labor Management System."

Cut some rock this week, made some jewelry, the girlfriend and I went down to the South Platte yesterday, she read a novel, I was in the water "sluicing" for a little gold flour. Ended up at the hippie bead shop in Pine Junction to pick up some jewelry supplies.

Nice week... back to work... busy weekend.

I know Mobile LGF has been on the back burner for a while, but it would be nice to surf LGF on my Tilt 2 without it acting up or bogging down.. However, I realize you have more important things on your plate, Charles

I picked up the DroidX and noticed the LGF page loads much smoother, probably due to the processor being twice as fast as my motoDroid. I've also found it's easier to sign in if I can find a thread with just a few comments to use. XScope offers a browser that works quite a bit faster than the standard droid issue too.

Now if Apple can just get Safari 5 to work.

I never need a haircut these days because I keep pulling my hair out. It takes two to three minutes for me to load LGF. Worked fine under Safari 4.
