Sunday Afternoon Music: Gareth Pearson, ‘Adrenaline Rush’
Here’s some mighty fancy finger picking from Gareth Pearson, doing an original tune called “Adrenaline Rush” from his album Urban Echoes Vol. 1.

That was very good. It reminds me of one of Tommy Emmanuel's shows on PBS.
Interesting that you mention that:
Gareth is an acoustic guitarist and composer from Cwmbran, South Wales UK. He has performed at festivals and concerts worldwide and was personally invited to the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society in Nashville by Tommy Emmanuel and by Southside Johnny to perform at their annual New Years Eve concert in New Jersey at the tender age of 17.
Gareth has a formidable string of concerts and guitar festivals behind him including The Montreal Jazz Festival and regularly conducts guitar workshops when appearing at festivals.
A recent article on Gareth published in the UK “Acoustic” magazine said this,
“Gareth Pearson is no average guitar player. He is in fact a living record of what can be achieved with an applied mind and a great passion for pursing what it is you love doing. Having only just begun playing the instrument in recent times, he has developed a distinctive style and execution to his playing that has earned him the greatest of accolades from world renowned players. In less than five years he has grown from a relatively unknown guitar appreciator to a fully fledged professional who now performs in many parts of the world.
With influences such as Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel and Merle Travis, Gareth’s arsenal of techniques represents a broad gamut to be entertained by, even if one cannot see his fingers move, as they dance with great fluidity. These opinions of popularity are continuing to grow further as guitar greats including Jan Akkerman and Tommy Emmanuel have invited and requested Gareth’s company on tour. Add to this his characteristic vocal signatures and you have one of the world’s most developed new guitar players that has fully blossomed.”

I hope the part about the wheelchair is not true.
However . . . .I worked with a man who was in a wheelchair, after he was paralyzed in a car wreck.
He told me that he did indeed have to learn how to deal with the chair. He said at the end of this rehab period, his trainer took him out to a park to see how he could get around, and at some point, took his chair and tipped it over, tipping him out of it.
He said people all around were horrified, just horrified! But he said this was part of the training - you had to learn, if the chair tipped over and spilled you out of it, you had to learn how to get everything back in order again ALONE, in case it ever happened when there weren't people around to help out.
FBV - being in a wheelchair ain't an easy life.
But people in wheelchairs live perfectly full and regular and quite happy lives.
That he lived through this incident is a blessing in itself, IMO.

Oh, that makes no sense whatsoever.
They have a decent idea of what's come out already, and that's what they'll pay fines on. The flow was not completely consistent over time - so any reading they could get now wouldn't say much about what the flow was earlier, anyhow.
They don't pay fines on what is NOT coming out; so keeping it capped means nothing except there's no pollution, which is a what we wanted to begin with.

And, RWC- the fact that this is capped, and the relief well is nearly finished and it appears there will be little or no additional pollution from the flow . . . doesn't mean the story is over.
Apparently some of the Florida beach places are beginning to get calls, people wanting to come for a vacation now that the oil has stopped. And some of the fishermen are back to work.
But there are still no permits being issued for new or continued drilling operations, anywhere (shallow or deep water). That will have a profound effect on a lot of people. But for most people - getting that flow stopped was the whole story, and it's essentially over for them. Not for us though (and by us, I mean Louisiana).

California's medical marijuana growers see a new threat to their tenuous existence: the "Wal-Marting" of weed.
..."some marijuana advocates worried that regulations intended to bring order to the outlaw industry and new revenues to cash-strapped local governments could drive small "mom and pop" growers out of business. They complain that industrial-scale gardens would harm the environment, reduce quality and leave consumers with fewer strains from which to choose."

A federal official says scientists are concerned about a seep and possible methane near BP's busted oil
the company hopes to leave it that way until crews can permanently kill the leak.
That differs from the plan the federal government laid out a day earlier, in which millions more gallons of oil could be released
Looks as if BP wants to keep the cap on until the relief well is done, and the Feds want to open it now. Could the "somethings leaking, we better open it up and check" be the gov't way to EGT their way??

Satt
The roi was worried earlier that the integrity test could put some pressure on the formation itself that could cause a leak (seepage) around the well, or in places away from the well. He felt so strongly that this integrity test was a stupid move, he actually contacted the Governor's office to tell them they needed to fight the idea.
Now, whether this seepage was caused for the reasons he was concerned about is not known right now. All I know is that he was pretty upset about BP doing this integrity test, rather than just letting it continue to flow and capturing all of it, as they would have been able to do with this new cap.

Is there any way of telling whether the "seepage" they think is there now may have been there all along, in trace amounts anyway, BEFORE the Kabloom
Maybe IF it's seeping now it's only because it's ALWAYS been seeping and with the more intense monitoring are only now finding it

There are natural seepages, in amounts that the system takes care of naturally, with bacteria, etc.
And of course what you suggest is always possible. But in this case, I think they are likely related.

That's the way it's been all summer. Ala/Fla beach-front rentals are way down, and really, for no good reason other than the reporting on this has been sucky and panic-stricken.
Don't get me wrong, this has been an awful thing. But the ill effects thus far to the beaches have not been extreme. La. shore has taken the worst hit, because we don't really have beaches, we have marshes, and it's hard to follow all the inlets into the marshland, to clean them up. Plus they're muddy, not sandy, another problem.
