AZ Sheriff Babeu, Frequent Fox Contributor, Appears on White Supremacist Radio Show

Wingnuts • Views: 4,496

Arizona Republican Sheriff Paul Babeu is a frequent guest on Fox News, vigorously defending Arizona’s new immigration law on at least 18 occasions.

And last July 10th, Sheriff Babeu appeared on a radio show that openly and proudly promotes white supremacism, antisemitism, Holocaust denial and other extreme right wing causes — the vile, ugly Political Cesspool show, a frequent hang-out of David Duke and other leading lights of the white nationalist sub-subculture: AZ Sheriff Babeu appears on a white nationalist program, invites listeners to join his ‘posse’.

Fox News and neo-Nazi radio shows, sharing guests.

UPDATE at 7/19/10 5:33:29 pm:

Babeu also appeared in this political advertisement for John McCain, telling McCain, “Senator, you’re one of us” — which takes on a seriously unpleasant meaning in this context.

There's a sheriff in AZ worse than Joe Arpaio?

I learned something today!

A bunch of white supremacists cruising the border under quasi-legal police oversight? What could possibly go wrong?

I wonder if John McCain will continue to use him in his ads. Babeu said in one of them to McCain, "You're one of us". Did he ever say what he meant by that?

I don't know, but if I was McCain's opponent (assuming he beats Hayworth in the primary), I'd use it in an ad.

"You're one of us." followed by images of Babeau hanging out with racists, and finally, "Really, Senator McCain? How far have you fallen from the war hero we used to admire?"

Wow. These guys are very candid about their agenda. Political Cesspool statement of principles (no link):

1- The United States government should be independent of any international organization of governments and American law should not be imposed by organizations such as the United Nations.

2- America would not be as prosperous, ruggedly individualistic, and a land of opportunity if the founding stock were not Europeans.

3- Since family is the foundation of any strong society, we are against feminism, abortion, and primitivism.

4- Private property rights are inviolable. They come from our God-given right to life.

5- We wish to revive the White birthrate above replacement level fertility and beyond to grow the percentage of Whites in the world relative to other races.

6- Issues such as education, environmental law, and police should be decentralized down to the lowest level to insure natural rights and efficiency.

7- Secession is a right of all people and individuals. It was successful in 1776 and this show honors those who tried to make it successful in 1865.

8- We are cultural conservatives because we have certain morals to which we adhere. We are against homosexuality, vulgarity, loveless sex, and masochism.

re: #107 windsagio

Don't worry steve has assured us that he's not a racist.

FYI...

The abbreviation Paki acquired offensive connotations in the 1960s when used by British tabloids to refer to subjects of former colony states in a derogatory and racist manner. In modern British usage "Paki" is typically used in a derogatory way as a label for all South Asians, including Indians, Afghans and Bangladeshis. To a lesser extent, the term has been applied as a racial slur towards Arabs and other Middle Eastern-looking groups who may resemble South Asians. During the 60's many emigrants were also dubbed as "black" to further segregrate them from the white community. Some would say such a division still exists in parts of England.

In recent times there has been a trend by second and third-generation British Pakistanis to reclaim the word. The word has been turned into a keepsake for the young British Pakistani community that is not acceptable for someone outside the community to say it, including Indians and Bangladeshis.

Speaking of fascists. I think it is important to point out another right wing fascist monster who has been getting some loving on the far right again lately.

Let us talk about Augusto Pinochet.

For those who are not familiar with this wretched and vile abomination. He led a military coup in Chile in 1973, with the backing of the Nixon administration, that overthrew the elected government and sealed control of his power by becoming a dictator and massacring his opponents.

Under his horrible rule, thousands of people were disappeared by secret police. Torture was common place. Some reports have estimates of over 30,000 tortured. This by the way, was gruesome and primitive torture, there can be no debate about pliers and electric shocks to testicles or eyes being horrors. Summary execution was common place. Freedom of speech was abrogated with threats of death to oneself and one's family.

Pinochet was eventually removed from power when he lost the support of the army and a non rigged plebiscite voted him out of office in 1988. He then became senator for life. At the time of his death in 2006, over 300 criminal charges were still pending against him in Chile for heinous human rights violations, tax evasion and embezzlement from the government. This scum was accused of having corruptly amassed a wealth of over $28 million while dictator.

Yet, certain insane wingnuts love this monster.

I never thought I would hear anyone go and argue that there was anything good or noble about this sick monster who was very much in the mold of Saddam Hussein - another monster whom we installed in power during that period. However through historical revisionism at we see him being rehabilitated.

Have no doubts. The people in the teabag movement like this sort of man. If they did not, they would not have the projection fears that they place on Obama so much. They are afraid that Obama will do to them what they want to do to others. The idea of getting rid of pesky human rights for those he does not like though, very much appeals to them.

How many of you have heard wingnuts debating if torture is OK? Answer, quite a few - even on these pages.

How many GOP types and even worse, Teabags routinely show nothing but contempt for the constitution and American liberties?

Make no doubts. We are looking at sick fascist cretins. For them, politics is not the democratic American inclusive ideal, but rather a brutal and exclusive ideal designed to control academic and personal political and religious liberties and to brutally keep certain "undesirables" down.

We are primarily a PR firm but, occasionally work with a top 3 Opposition Research company (my fmr boss was a partner there). Our vetting reports always include info about racist ties, dirty financial dealings, crisis communication points. Why Fox doesn't do this as well says more than all the hyperbolic bloviating from Hannity, et al. The RNC during the W years had a fleet of vetters, until Tom DeLay's crowd took over in 2006 for that catastrophic failure of a midterm campaign.

Racists simply have to be expelled, loudly. If someone auto-selects another option, then to hell with 'em. Yeah, I know, both sides do this crap. But the whole racist thing ticks me off.

Pakistan is a country of British design, hived off from India and East Pakistan in 1947.

McCain doesn't pick his cohorts very carefully. He warms up with Palin, then hits one out of the park with klukker Babeu. Yet, we're supposed to believe this doddering fossil - friend to epic dumbasses and world class shitstains - deserves to stay in office until he finally kicks it? Since when is hanging around with white supremacists something you casually wave off, like some minor oversight?

I never dreamed our country would become the hardline cesspool it has since Obama took office. I really thought I'd seen the worst with Bush Derangement Syndrome. Who would believe just a couple years later, BDS would only earn a PG rating?

The United States elects its first black president, and whitey goes into total meltdown crybaby mode, and makes hatin'-n-klukkin' the officially unofficial party policy of the GOP. It's incredible. And sickening. And yet, deep down, I kinda always figured the GOP for being exactly that.

if Paki is a racial slur, I am unaware of it...we might take a vote, or let Charles decide...how is Paki racist?...is Astan racists? or Brits? or Talis?...do you people sit around and make this OO up?...is there anything informative you can submit?

Well for you and the Matrix, who seems to be confused, I will point out that the N word was a shortening of Negro, spic is a shortening of Hispanic and that kike was a shortening of Yekke.

In that case, does it seem to drive the Pakistani and Indian communities together in countering that attitude?

Admitting you didn't know, making some effort to say "whoops, social faux pas on my part! Excuse me" and moving on is fine. re: #275 HoosierHoops

I have never heard that..Honestly...

As I posted WAY UP THREAD (Ludwig, take note AGAIN)

re: #115 Walter L. Newton

Yes, part of why white supremacists are flourishing today is that they have been allowed to publicly push the envelope with language that would never have been tolerated in polite society a mere decade ago. Slurs against black people, Muslims, Hispanics etc... would never have been breathed in public discourse without the degeneration of these words becoming so often heard and so often debated about, when everyone knows their racial tint, are now somehow passable. This is a process.

This is a point that has been made here many times on these pages and is being made as an example tonight.

re: #326 LudwigVanQuixote

I can forgive people for not knowing. I honestly did not think anyone here was ignorant of that fact. However, one look at British media will make the nature of the slur obvious and honestly, I am appalled that after being told numerous times that people are still debating this.

True but in the interests of peace, I'd like to propose an amnesty: We all assume that the uses on this thread of the words "Nippon", "Paki", and "Armo" were not intended to slur people based on their race or ethnicity. However, we will all endeavor to avoid those words going forwards. Fair?

The sex might be loveless, but they're clearly some masochistic bastards, given their general outlook on life.

Not the worst thing, but pretty flipping bad is that these folks are getting legitimacy and supporters because "they're doing what the gd government isn't" spittle spittle

Slippery slope, just like the islamaphobes joining up with the fascists. Every damn day I see these historically bad groups getting support.

Well, "Nippon" is the name of a country, not a racial slur.

As to "P---" and "A---", one I was not aware was a slur, the other I have never even heard of. Good to know going forward, though.

It's probably all talk for like 99% of them. Well, the racism isn't all talk obviously, but the mumbo jumbo about sex and all the silly rules are probably just window dressing for white supremacists to pretend they're all very lofty and noble and that whitey is more civilized and conservative and whatever

I believe "Nippon" is to "Japan" much the same way "España" is to "Spain".

Anyone? Am I right about that?

Not really.

Gus put forth the Kanji 日本, which is pronounced by itself as "Nihon". In certain circumstances the "h" will change to a "p" sound in the Japanese language. In their syllabary the "h" sounds: は ひ ふ へ ほ (ha hi hu/fu he ho) change to "p" sounds: ぱ ぴ ぷ ぺ ぽ (pa pi pu pe po.)

Thus "Nihon" and "Nippon".

"Japan" is weird and whenever I heard a Japanese say that word it sounds weird. However, I never met a Japanese person who was offended by it.

It's the contracted "nip" and "jap" slurs that in the English language are derogatory.

"PRINCETON, NJ -- In the same week the U.S. Senate passed a major financial reform bill touted as reining in Wall Street, Democrats pulled ahead of Republicans, 49% to 43%, in voters' generic ballot preferences for the 2010 congressional elections."

Long boring explanation, and then "It is thought the Portuguese traders were the first to bring the word to Europe."

We rocked 400 years ago. The Portuguese even brought Christianity to Japan, and it flourished at first. Unfortunately, due to a terrible misunderstanding, all the churches ended up literally in flames. Oh, well...

re: #308 McSpiff

I'll make my position on this very clear. No one was racist for not knowing that "Paki" was a slur. Humans are damn creative when it comes to these things.

Where my concern is, is after being told that something is a slur, people continue to fight to be able to use the word. I'm sorry that you now know that "paki" is offensive to millions of people. Guess you have to go back to typing out "Pakistani".

I know I'm late to this thread, but hopefully you're still here - I just want to thank you for your posts because I'm:

a) Canadian
b) Of Pakistani descent

...and have been subjected to the racial slur in question more times than I care to count.

I would appreciate it very much if people here never use it again.

As for the word in question, maybe this will make it clear for anyone still confused - it's the UK/Canadian equivalent of "r-g-h--d" (i.e. the slur used for SC gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley by some jerk right-wing politician...maybe a state rep, I don't remember now)
