Breitbart Says: I Didn’t Edit the Tape, Shirley Sherrod is Still a Racist and So Is the NAACP

US News • Views: 3,360

Andrew Breitbart now says he didn’t edit the videotape of Shirley Sherrod’s NAACP speech, but that it was already edited when he received it. And of course, he’s not backing down on his claim that it shows Sherrod to be a “racist,” even though he must now be aware that Sherrod was telling a story about how she overcame unconscious racism. He must also be aware that the white farmer and his wife who were the subjects of Sherrod’s story have come forth and said she saved their farm, praised her effusively, and utterly denied she was a racist.

Nonetheless, Breitbart is still saying things like this:

“I think the video speaks for itself,” he said. “The way she’s talking about white people … is conveying a present tense racism in my opinion. But racism is in the eye of the beholder.”

He also takes issue with how the audience, many of them members of the NAACP, respond positively to her comments — proof, he says, of prevalent racism.
