What Right Wing Extremist Violence? Part 2

Wingnuts • Views: 2,866

In Oakland, police have announced that Byron Williams, who was injured in a shootout with police on Sunday, was on his way to commit mass murder at offices of the ACLU and the Tides Foundation.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) ― Police say a California man who engaged in a freeway shootout with authorities was planning to attack people at the American Civil Liberties Union and another nonprofit.

Oakland Police Officer Jeff Thomason says Byron Williams told investigators he was on his way to San Francisco late Saturday night when California Highway Patrol officers pulled him over on Interstate 580. Williams allegedly opened fire wearing a bulletproof vest and armed with three guns.

Thomason says Williams wanted to target the ACLU and Tides Foundation for their “political views.” Authorities have said he has a deep-rooted anger with left-leaning politics.

I blame the polarised political atmosphere that the Democrats and Obama have been pushing. This is going to reflect terribly on the White House. And remember that we haven’t seen the unedited tapes yet. I find that disturbing.

Is that about right?

I’ll never understand why self avowed constitution hawks hate the ACLU…

I’ll tell you why I personally hate the ACLU (even though my uncle was on its national board).

As I’ve said before in my posts, a gang of black racists tried to kill me and 405 others in an arson attack in October, 1967, apparently because we opposed them in a student election. Three hours later, the same gang beat up the student newspaper staff, hospitalizing my friend, the editor Jim Vazko. Jim and his staff had been investigating their extortion and embezzlement of student funds.

The ACLU came to the defense of the racist pigs and served as their defense team. They weren’t interested in racial justice. They weren’t interested in freedem of the press. They were interested in coming to the aid of bad guys. That’s what they did, that’s what they do.

Shortly before all this happened, I approached the ACLU regarding voting intimidation on campus. Their response was too foul for me to relate here.

That’s why I hate the ACLU.

Because you have to read carefully. After the radicals were caught and shut down, it became clear that journalists were covering up a massive scandal. One of those journalists was my own father.

What sort of proof do you want? You’re a typical liberal, what is inconvenient to you never happened. Like the Zebra Killings. Did I fake those as well? (By the way, I’m a Democrat, I support most of the Obama Administration’s policies. But the Atty. General should resign.)

By the way, as a journalist, I’m working on a book about the so-called “Student Strike” — It’s remarkable how many famous people should have gone to jail for extortion and embezzlement.

Forget that..What University? Google comes up blank..You know that old Chestnut..Everybody knows Google sucks for searching
Are you referring to the Clemson incident…

What’s funny is that the reporting on the Vasko affair was incredibly incendiary— most of it reactionary and anti-black— and yet he’s alleging a vast conspiracy to cover up an arson attempt.

And— heh— according to that book, the ACLU did NOT defend the “gator 9”, when they had defended white students in similar circumstances.

I have my own problems with the ACLU, and I no longer donate to them. This started when they made a huge whoopty-do over a teensy-weensy cross on the Los Angeles County seal.

Right after that happened, I wrote them a letter complaining about the two ginormous Catholic crosses bottony on the Maryland flag (which, if displayed properly on an indoor pole according to state law, is supposed to be hung on a staff topped with another pesky Christian cross, as shown in the picture).

They wrote back all eager to take on the case - at which point I decided I couldn’t keep up the charade, and told them to go fuck themselves.

Can you provide evidence that the ACLU defended the black students, when the book on the incident cited above says that they did not?

There definitely was a Vazko, and he definitely was an enormous racist who published incredibly virulent screeds against the Black Student Union. It is highly probably that he was attacked by members of the Black Student Union.

That account linked by publicitystunted does not, as you point out, support Mardukhai’s version of events.

The student were suspended in the middle of a semester, Vazko suffered minimal injuries and was in hospital overnight for observation, it appears there was lots of reporting on the incident.

Mardukahai - I don’t know exactly what your issue is, but this incident is more than 40 years old, and your account of it isn’t matching up with what I just read.

Truly, I beg you to step back and take a fresh look at what’s going on in the world TODAY.

You’re just vomiting back radical propaganda. Everyone on campus hated the BSU. The BSU was a strong-arm gang that worked hand in glove with white student crooks, and were finally put out of business by the state attorney general (a Democrat) in Feb. 1969. (That’s a whole ‘nuther issue.)

I’ve been a journalist for 40 years. If it spoils a gig, or violates perceived reality, journos form a solid wall. They don’t want to be fired, and they don’t want to be the odd man out.

Two of the journalists involved, Bill Stout of CBS and Art Seidenbaum of the LA Times were family friends. Both later apologized to me. Seidenbaum said, “We just couldn’t believe what we were seeing.”

re: #106 Mardukhai

GAZE.

You have showed nothing, proved nothing. When someone did a Google search, the facts of the incident were radically different than you had presented them— namely, the ACLU did not defend the students, according to that book. You say there was a conspiracy among all newspapers (many of which, during that time, were reactionary, conservative newspapers that reported very negatively on the BSU, so would have no reason to cover up anything) and obviously in the University as well. You have no proof, and you tell this story over and over; even if it were true, as I said before, even if it were true, there are so many more incidents of blacks being assaulted and killed by whites through racism. We really have treated blacks like shit in this country. It really happened, and we can’t just wish it away.

Every time I’ve read a newspaper story about me or someone I know well, the reporters have managed to bugger up at least one important detail…for instance, in a Baltimore Sun story years ago that quoted my father, they said he was a physician who worked “near Hopkins Hospital”.

LOL. He worked his entire professional life at and for Hopkins, and still works there in retirement, daily.

We tweaked him for months about that, how he worked like Lucy in “Peanuts” out of a little kiosk on Broadway in Baltimore, just a block or two away from Hopkins. I’d call him up and say, so how’s life at the kiosk today?

Yeah, that’s gonna be a top seller. As a journalist, you fail to impress.

116 Reginald Perrin  Tue, Jul 20, 2010 4:56:31pm

Tom Blumer, a contributor to Pajamas Media and Newsbusters attacks Shirley Sherrod from a different angle. He is claiming she resigned quickly to cover-up how she got the job in the first place. Later on he starts to compare settling old lawsuits filed by African American farmers against the USDA with reparations.

The astro-turf spin machine is working hard to keep Ms Sherrod in the spotlight and portray her as a villian, rather than the victim of Breitbart’s racism.

Shirley Sherrod’s Disappearing Act: Not So Fast: Washington Examiner

Here are a few bigger-picture questions:

* Did Shirley Sherrod resign so quickly because the circumstances of her hiring and the lawsuit settlement with her organization that preceded it might expose some unpleasant truths about her possible and possibly sanctioned conflicts of interest?
* Is USDA worried about the exposure of possible waste, fraud, and abuse in its handling of Pigford?
* Did USDA also dispatch Sherrod hastily because her continued presence, even for another day, might have gotten in the way of settling Pigford matters quickly?

re: #51 Mardukhai

Your perspective, your opinion. Granted. However, I down ding because of your sweeping judgments based on one case they took in which you are personally involved.

Maybe they took a bad case and maybe they didn’t. The point is that ignoring a gigantic bulk of positive action based on one “mistake” is unreasonable. Imagine if you were judged this way in your own life, workplace, social group, etc.

Do you ever make mistakes? Do you ever say something or do something that, in retrospect wasn’t a good idea? I’d assume you’d say the same thing I do which is “nobody is perfect” so perhaps you should consider that in your proclamation of hate for an entire organization rather than a specific incident.

128 Locker  Tue, Jul 20, 2010 7:19:49pm

re: #65 Cato the Elder

Why would an angry right-wing asshole want to shoot up the ACLU when the ACLU spends a good portion of its budget defending the rights of angry right-wing assholes?

Because angry, right-wing assholes are fucking stupid…. deliberately and proudly.
