Dan Riehl is an amazingly pathetic moron.
He's doing the same thing Breitbart did, except even more obviously fraudulent. He found a video of Charles Sherrod in which he says this:
Charles Sherrod: "We must stop the white man and his Uncle Toms from stealing our elections."
Charles Sherrod: "The tears that we've shed, so many times.... When the TV and the newspaper comes out the day of an election, or the day before an election. And tell white folk, all over, wherever we are running somebody for an office ... that blacks are going to TAKE that office over. And thousands are coming to the polls. And you gotta get it."
Notice that Riehl puts a period in that second quote after "election" -- but in the video, you can clearly hear that Sherrod does NOT pause at that point. The next sentence is a continuation of the first -- he's saying that Southern TV and newspapers come out and SCARE people by telling them black people are going to take over.
Riehl tries to say Sherrod is boasting that black people are going to take over. The sheer idiocy of this crap makes my head hurt. He's either too stupid to understand what Sherrod is actually saying, or he's deliberately distorting it. Possibly both.

Pentagon Eyes Accused Analyst Over WikiLeaks Data
WASHINGTON—Military investigators are checking computers used by Bradley Manning, a U.S. Army intelligence analyst charged this month with leaking classified information, to see if he is the source of thousands of military documents published Sunday by WikiLeaks.
If this turned out to be true... could this guy actually be tried for treason?
No, I do not believe so. They would lack the two constitutional witnesses to the act of treason and they would have to prove that the intent was to give aid and comfort to the enemy rather than being, for example, a political protest or act of conscientious objection. They've got him on enough things that he'll not walk so I doubt they'll even worry about trying.

re: #34 Charles
Dan Riehl is an amazingly pathetic moron.
He's doing the same thing Breitbart did, except even more obviously fraudulent. He found a video of Charles Sherrod in which he says this:
Notice that Riehl puts a period in that second quote after "election" -- but in the video, you can clearly hear that Sherrod does NOT pause at that point. The next sentence is a continuation of the first -- he's saying that Southern TV and newspapers come out and SCARE people by telling them black people are going to take over.
Riehl tries to say Sherrod is boasting that black people are going to take over. The sheer idiocy of this crap makes my head hurt. He's either too stupid to understand what Sherrod is actually saying, or he's deliberately distorting it. Possibly both.
Even with the period there, I read it the way you interpreted it, not Riehl's interpretation. I've seen that sort of thing done in publications, though not in recent memory, but 39 years ago when I first started voting - I did indeed see that sort of thing in some publications.
I can't believe Riehl would try to say Sherrod's words meant something else. Riehl must not know many suthreners; any of us older folks could have set him straight.

I don't really have an answer for that. Ellesburg did this nation a good bit of damage, IMO, though in his defense it must be said that he did not release information related to ongoing operations or thus where outing someone could get them killed (indeed, two whole volumes of the papers were entirely withheld for those reasons) and he understood My Lai as the anomaly it was (as most on the left did not). Still, to simply leak things as he did was a grave error.

I told some of you, but I interrupted one the other night... the husky doing his "bear bark" outside, so, I step outside WITHOUT MY GLASSES ON, which means I am half blind, and 10 feet away, on the other side of my high trellised fence, I see a white garbage bag moving along at ground level, with no evident means of locomotion. Of course, a bear had it and was dragging it along the ground, but in the half dark, all I saw was the bag moving... I tiptoed right off that porch and back into the house... funny, I found the bag the next morning about 20 feet down hill from the house, untouched and unopened.
Guess he didn't like the quality of our garbage that night.
