He sure has trouble taking responsibility for his own actions. I thought conservatives were all about personal responsibility, or does that only apply to everyone else?

Breitbart has a reputation? Granted it's a shitty one so I don't think Obama would need any help destroying that.

Breitbart will play this to the hilt. It's all part and parcel of his attempt to take out the left by hook or crook. He'll play martyr and claim persecution even though he's the one who destroyed Sherrod with a video that was heavily edited and continues to deflect responsibility for his shameful conduct on others.

After seeing the video on Charles' Jon Stewart thread, it amazes me that the right is still pushing the Shirley Sherrod is a bigot angle. The woman clearly used the story to illustrate the lessons we can learn from our prejudices but because Breitbart and his friends have a raging hate on for the NAACP, the show must go on and Sherrod must be demonized at all costs. It's just pathetic as hell and the increasing reactionaryism within the modern conservative movement is troubling to say the least.

Hmmm... attend an event where he can be embroiled in controversy over views about atheists and homosexuals -or- attend an interview on a show that is likely sympathetic to his politics and has a worldwide audience yet risk controversy over lack of support for a traditional American institution?

Mon dieu! The French have declared war on al Qaeda and commenced attacks against the terrorist group's bases in North Africa.

France has declared war on al-Qaida, and matched its fighting words with a first attack on a base camp of the terror network's North African branch, after the terror network killed a French aid worker it took hostage in April.

The declaration and attack marked a shift in strategy for France, usually discrete about its behind-the-scenes battle against terrorism.

"We are at war with al-Qaida," Prime Minister Francois Fillon said Tuesday, a day after President Nicolas Sarkozy announced the death of 78-year-old hostage Michel Germaneau.

The humanitarian worker had been abducted April 20 or 22 in Niger by al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, and was later taken to Mali, officials said.

I am.
I don't give a flying fuck if the President goes to the Boy Scout Jamboree.
I don't care about the Boy Scouts for the most part.
I don't really like apple pie that much either.
I don't eat yellow mustard on my hot dogs and I drink tea ever morning instead of coffee.

On the other hand I love kit-lers.

My husband is an Eagle Scout...which is as much attention as I normally pay to the Boy Scouts of America.
I don't like pie, really. I like pie crust.
I love French's yellow mustard on hot dogs.
And coffee.

I maintain that 'kit-lers' should be called Chaplincats.

re: #86 SanFranciscoZionist

They might be disappointed, although honestly, I expect for the kids the highlights of the event probably won't be a speech from the President. It would have been a nice gesture for him to be there, and it seems to me like he could be on the View any time.

Scheduling--yes. I once scheduled a rabbi, and that was bad enough. (Of course, that was mostly the rabbi's own fault...)

Considering the reoccurring dust ups between the scouts and the issue of gay scouts... I don't think it would be smart for the President to seen to offer support for that group.

France has declared war on al-Qaida, and matched its fighting words with a first attack on a base camp of the terror network's North African branch, after the terror network killed a French aid worker it took hostage in April.

The declaration and attack marked a shift in strategy for France, usually discrete about its behind-the-scenes battle against terrorism.

re: #160 Fozzie Bear

Lets argue about arguing about arguments.

Do you agree with this statement...

In logic, an argument is a set of one or more meaningful declarative sentences (or "propositions") known as the premises along with another meaningful declarative sentence (or "proposition") known as the conclusion. A deductive argument asserts that the truth of the conclusion is a logical consequence of the premises; an inductive argument asserts that the truth of the conclusion is supported by the premises. Deductive arguments are valid or invalid, and sound or not sound. An argument is valid if and only if the truth of the conclusion is a logical consequence of the premises and (consequently) its corresponding conditional is a necessary truth. A sound argument is a valid argument with true premises.

One of my college friends was kicked out of the Rainbow Girls for having sex with a DeMolay boy. On the altar of a church they were having a joint event at.

He was not kicked out of DeMolay.

My father, OTOH, was never allowed into DeMolay, although his father was a Mason of many years' standing, because they didn't allow Catholics back then.

On the church altar ? Impressive. The worse I've done was pick up the "good" girls being dropped off at a Methodist Youth dance and taking them to watch the submarine races on the river from the back seat of my car.

One day I got off worked, picked up the daughter, and stopped at the grocery store. I was wearing one of those wrap skirts that tie at the waist.

So I leave the store, pushing the cart with one hand and carrying her with the other arm. She was a very active kid. She moved constantly. I see these two men walking toward me with their eyes wide as saucers.

The damned tie on the skirt had come undone, and it had practically fallen all the way off - my entire front side was completely exposed. I didn't even realize it!

Don't go and get yourself banned. This place would change for the worst. I don't always agree with you, but I think you're needed. I think you help set the goal posts for this place, and you get hounded for it.

Do I wish sometimes you'd shut up before Charles gives you a time out...yes. Would I shut up if I was in your situation? Probably not. Not really in my character. I tend to dig in harder. I don't think its all on you, or me or any one poster though. Doesn't help when we find out we have stalkers here trying to stir up as much shit as possible either.

I told myself day 1 that I was here to learn from people with very different view points from myself, and I think I've lost track of that a bit in the last year. Something to aim for in year 2 I guess.

no andrew, obama isn't trying to destroy you. you're beneath his notice.

dailykos and john stewart, on the other hand, probably are trying to destroy you. perhaps you should stop supplying them with so much ammunition.

re: #246 _RememberTonyC

Being the POTUS really ages a man. I just saw a clip of Obama on CNN and he really is getting a lot of grey hair.

All the men get grey hair after a year or two in that job.

That's why we need a woman president. She'll never go gray (not as long as there are hairdressers in this world).

The White House let the Scouts know the President wouldn't be attending two months ago, long before he was scheduled to appear on The View. He has had numerous Oval Office visits with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, most recently meeting with a scouting delegation on the 12th. He will be addressing the Boy Scout jamboree by pre-recorded video.

Knowing two months in advance doesn't make it any better. I am a scout leader and a father of a tiger scout. This was a big event for the scouts and President Obama couldn't do what the previous three Presidents have done and attend the jamboree in person.

Just to maintain the level of discourse, which C student... Kerry or Gore? POTUS has not permitted the release of his transcript from Occidental, so no way to really keep current with the comparisons.

Actually, the word is nit-picking.
But I suppose if you're sure you'll never make a random typo, knock yourself out.

You did notice she was correcting her own self...right? Or were you just nit-picking?

re: #275 blueraven
No, I didn't... just reacted to what I see IMO too often, which is someone jumping on a silly typo merely because they're not fond of the author's idea.
If it was a self-correct ( haven't checked yet), mea culpa and disregard.

As an Eagle Scout and as a Scouter, it doesn't bother me a bit that President Obama didn't make a personal appearance at Fort AP Hill...the taped message is more than adequate. Sure, it would have been nice for the President to have been there in person, but it would have been a complete logistics and security pain-in-the-ass.

People are forgetting the soggy potato chip theory when it comes to stories about BB. All children love potato chips. They prefer fresh, crispy ones, but if given the choice between soggy chips and no chips, they'll choose the soggy ones every time.
I don't see why people keep feeding the guy chips. He likes the soggy ones!
