Kagan to Be Confirmed, Nuts Go Into Overdrive

Today’s the day Elena Kagan will probably be confirmed to the Supreme Court, and the loons’ heads are exploding all over the Internet.

The most absurd and bigoted piece I’ve found yet is at Andrew Breitbart’s “Big Peace” website, where anti-Muslim fanatic Christine Brim has a ludicrous article accusing Kagan of being “pro-sharia:” Shariah Comes to the Supreme Court.

This is what bigotry looks like when it reaches a terminal stage; Brim’s brain has completely rotted away, leaving a core of blind hatred that’s operating on automatic. Brim is also one of the biggest boosters in America of European fascist groups; she’s completely convinced that neo-Nazis and white supremacists are her friends in the battle against the evil Muslim horde. Deranged doesn’t even begin to describe her.

I haven’t seen anyone post why they think Kagan will be a great USSC jurist other than because it pisses off the other side of the aisle. Is that all we really care about? I got down dinged for saying it but she’s a twin of Alito. Another big government jurist who will vote to consolidate more and more power within the federal government at every opportunity.

I think the president is entitled to his pick and she’s not out of her mind so she should be confirmed but that doesn’t make it a good day for anyone.

She’s smart, has a strong legal background and is a constitutional scholar. She knows the law and constitution, seems level-headed and even handed.

I am a little hesitant in her lack of experience as a judge, but not really that much. Being a supreme court judge seems fairly different from almost any other judicial position. At least from my armchair…

Because they’re all pro-state jurists. As long as it doesn’t come down to a contest of who has the power, the people or the federal government, they’re fine. The left side of the jurists will vote for individual rights, as long as it doesn’t conflict with a perceived federal power and the same with the right side of the aisle in regards to property rights.

I don’t have an answer to fix it, just complaints. grumble/grumble.
