Rand Paul, Aqua Buddha, and the Bong Hit Kidnapping

Politics • Views: 7,630

GQ Magazine has a report from an anonymous woman that while at Baylor University, Rand Paul and a friend kidnapped her and tried to force her to take bong hits.

According to this woman, who requested anonymity because of her current job as a clinical psychologist, “He and Randy came to my house, they knocked on my door, and then they blindfolded me, tied me up, and put me in their car. They took me to their apartment and tried to force me to take bong hits. They’d been smoking pot.” After the woman refused to smoke with them, Paul and his friend put her back in their car and drove to the countryside outside of Waco, where they stopped near a creek. “They told me their god was ‘Aqua Buddha’ and that I needed to bow down and worship him,” the woman recalls. “They blindfolded me and made me bow down to ‘Aqua Buddha’ in the creek. I had to say, ‘I worship you Aqua Buddha, I worship you.’ At Baylor, there were people actively going around trying to save you and we had to go to chapel, so worshiping idols was a big no-no.”

Heh. This must be the wackiest political season that ever was.

Now Rand Paul’s campaign is threatening legal action.

Leave it to Rand Paul to give weed smokers concern.

We know your meth dealers were cutting weed with PCP, Ron. Next time through life, the Aqua Buddha commands you to seek weed from the freaks, not the Fucking Freaks.

Now that I think about it, this is another example for the legalization of drugs. The last 2 presidents did illegal drugs and still became president, Paul was a college dope smoker that still scored high enough that he didn't need to finish his BA in order to get into medical school. This should be an after-school special.

But it's so much in tune with the stories I heard when I was in college, I am willing to suspend my suspension of suspended disbelief, pending events.

A woman with a professional license to protect told this story on the record to a national reporter (who probably has an audio recording of the interview).

When reporters called after the story broke, the Rand Paul campaign did not deny it. Their response was some vague "he was indeed on the swim team".

And Paul supporters are in the comments section at GQ posting "why does it matter what he did back in college, when he was a teenager?"

I'm thinking the story looks credible.

Seriously, duders, I have whack dreams every night.

I don't think a drug I've ever taken would induce that kind of fantasy.

Maybe there's something out there I haven't done yet. My nick is blue.

This story may be false. GQ may have fabricated it, or come up with a loony-tune grrrl who wants to get even with Rand for not making her Ron's daughter-in-law. Anything's possible, and bossible, and tossible.

But it's so much in tune with the stories I heard when I was in college, I am willing to suspend my suspension of suspended disbelief, pending events.

It might be true. But it was a prank. He didn't hurt her. She said so herself.

Which is exactly my point. I think it was his greatest coup. He took the two things that GW was certainly guilty of, heavy drug use and shirking his military responsibility, and allowed them to be brushed off. Not because of the *accuracy* of the statements, but because the fallacy of the source.

Look, this was well known in Texas when ran GW against Richards. It would have been hugely damaging in a national election.

The article has been updated to state that GQ has issued a statement that they dismiss the threat of a lawsuit from Paul's team, indicating that the story was vetted and fact-checked, and that they have given him ample opportunity to refute the facts of the article. . .something he has not done.
