Overnight Video: Rand Paul Dodges Fox News Reporter in His Own Studio
An exquisitely bizarre moment, brought to you by the weirdest GOP candidate out of a very weird batch.

Love the whole bit at the end about 'the guy with the racist sign was a left-wing plant'.
This has to be a funny situation for RAND PAUL. If he tried to sue the anonymous accuser libel or something, he kind of implicates himself in the kidnapping event in that he's able to identify someone who supposedly 'made it all up anonymously'.
This guy is a hug liability for the GOP.

"We really don't want to go into this" ...yeah, Rand, we do.
I like how the station got his fidgeting and evasion in the story. Even if he didn't do half of what he was accused of in that GQ story, he's sure worried about something.

Since when does answering a reporter's questions (after answering the same questions in the national telecast) constitute a "dodge"? Because they were walking, with a shake camera in tow? Or, because this is LGF?

Eh, it is a dodge. Though it's not completely unjustified because repeatedly answering the same questions is annoying, you'd expect a public figure to be much better at dealing with the same questions over and over again. That's pretty much what a public figure does, these days. So if RAND PAUL is the kind of guy that gets frustrated by answering the same questions two times in a row, I think that might only add to his liability factor.
His attitude kind of smacks of something like "To hell with this, I got my talking points out on cable news... screw everyone else, I'll be in my bunker until this blows over."

When he had to put the qualifier "I don't remember all of what I did in college 27 years ago" on his comments specifically denying the kidnapping and forcing the woman to take drugs, it was weasely at best. To be honest, I think he's done something else way back when that could sink him if anyone caught wind of it, judging by his body language and how he worded things.
By the way, Mr. Six-Posts-in-2.5-years, I find it funny that most of your posts are in this thread...

Let's look at a great post of yours shall we. It is one of your two before tonight.
[Link: littlegreenfootballs.com...]
And if Sherrod were white, and made the same sort of speech? Fired, with no apology, no retraction, and with no reputation left to repair. But, let's fall all over ourselves in praise of Ms. Sherrod's "redemption."
And, keep burying the Journolist story Charles. It's a nice juxtaposition -- Sherrod and the Journolist smears -- isn't it? Put the spotlight on one, and ignore the other.
Let's apply Charles Johnson logic to both. There are racist elements in the Tea Party -- therefore, the Tea Party is racist!! There are ostensibly objective journalists willing to conspire to slant the news for Obama. Therefore, all journalists slant the news for Obama!! Uh, er, um -- no. LGF logic in action.
Brilliant I say.
So please do me a favor when you get back to the stalker blog. Tell Rodent the following:
Making up history is a favorite pass time of the wingnuts. All truths are rewritable to their sense of immediate need and outrage. They rely on the public having no short term memory and no proper education. That way, they can re-write the books, in case anyone wants to look anything up.
Wingnuts now routinely claim that Muslims had nothing to do with Algebra. Really? Algebra is an Arabic word! They claim there was no Muslim golden age in Spain. I wonder who built the Alhambra or the university at Cordoba? But if you take those things out of the textbooks, you do away with such inconvenient questions.
It would not do to have your target humanized, or productive, or to posses any traits to be admired. That conflicts with the ideal of painting them all as scum throughout all of history. It is much like the Nazi purge of "Jewish" science. Stalinists and Catholics have also tried to purge "Jewish" science. The ways that totalitarians keep people uneducated and marginalize hated groups are ubiquitous.
The historical reality is that in the 900's, Damascus had gaslights, sewers and running water, while London was mostly mud huts and had feces encrusted streets. The reality, is that most of the learning that brought Europe out of the Dark ages, was preserved by the Muslims, in their great Spanish universities. However, if people realized this, they might find that there are Islamic achievements to be admired. Understanding such things might build bridges of mutual respect and quell the insanity of extremists on both sides.
A movement that must have enemies can not tolerate facts or truths getting in the way of dehumanizing those very enemies.

Yeah, that's the thing. The story sounds nuts, but you'd think an innocent man would say 'this simply didn't happen, and I don't know who would say such a thing'. He's evading. Something happened--he knows who this person is, and what they're referring to. Is the real story bad enough to hurt him? Maybe not. But it's not out of whole cloth, not the way he's reacting.

Yeah, the stalkers are like that.
Let's look at a great post of yours shall we. It is one of your two before tonight.
[Link: littlegreenfootballs.com...]
Good points Ludwig. It'll be fun watch the Stalkers rant about them on the "Diary of Dorkus".

I got it when I was 19. They say the older you are, the worse it is. They were right.
I was sick as a dog for over a week before the spots began. I thought it was just a really bad flu. Then I started to spot.
Now, a sane person would have realized what it was at this point, but I was out of my mind with illness, so I called the advice nurse at Kaiser who said:
1. She didn't know what that could be.
2. There seemed to be a lot of it going around.
3. Could I come in and have the doctor take a look?
So I took public transit while I was popping pox out on every surface--I probably killed someone on the 38 Geary that day, and never knew--and waited for half an hour before seeing a doctor who said, "You've got the chicken pox. Didn't the advice nurse tell you what this was?"
Things just got worse from that point on.

Which one do you think it is? It really doesn't matter since they are all douches anyway, bu I'm curious as to your opinion. It doesn't have the feel of Possum. It certainly doesn't have the feel of one of the harridans over there.
Much too sane for TFK and no Kerry is Satan reference.
No discussion of his ninja ways or how tough he is or guns... not likely Iron Fist.
Definitely not Rodent or Savage.
Could be Paul Revere or Snork though.
But I could be wrong. Like I said, it really doesn't matter. It's one of them and they are all douches.
No telling really. A lot of times we'll get people like Kung Fu Grip claiming to be a woman but turning out to be a man. Happened several times before. My guess then is that Kung Fu Grip is probably some stalker dude.

And all of that is fair. The thing to say then is first a falt out denial and tehn saying all of that forcefully followed by a challenge for his accuser to step forward.
Well that is what someone totally innocent would do.
He looks guilty as sin. I personally don't think it is possible for it to be worse than his views on civil rights, but that seems to have not disqualified him.
Yeah, he definitely sounds like he did something, and is preparing for the eventuality of further developments. The thing is that getting voters to go "Mmm..." at this, like you and I are doing right now, was probably the reason for this stunt.
Of course, this is Rand Paul we're talking about, so there are plenty of reasons to loathe the man. Still, he deserves to be treated fairly and all that -- which would mean a chance to respond to a specific accuser with specific allegations.

Perhaps you don't like the topics.
OK, how about the First Amendment and how it is absolutely anti-American to deny freedom of religious expression to any group that practices within the bounds of criminal law?
OK ok, maybe you don't like that?
How about how a law maker who is supposed to uphold those principles ought not be able to keep his job when he opposes them. It's sort of like a free-market poulitboro member or a meat eating Buddhist monk. It doesn't work so well. Shouldn't all those Republicans who are opposed to granting first amendment rights to other Americans be impeached? And do say why not in some meaningful way?

The Pauls have principles, some of which are wrong-headed. But, with things as they are in politics, someone who has principles and sticks to them has a certain redeeming quality -- if nothing much else.
I have yet to see any. All I see is two men who will ape rape the Constitution at every chance possible. Even my Moonbat best friend laughs his ass off at the Pauls. (Serious Moonbat. Took me 6 months to get him away from Birther stupiditiy and I'm still working on agw. He's not ignorant, though, so I have hope.

The only "principles" in see the Pauls (and a good deal of the GOP nowadays) is gaining political power at any cost, even if it means crawling into bed with batshit conspiracy loons, racists, xenophobes, and other dregs of the extreme right-wing.
What used to be fringe is under rehabilitation for the mainstream...

You don't care about the Golden Age of Spain, OR the Tea/Fascist connection OR the implications of a revealed religion for modern conservatism? Heck, what do you like to talk about?
(Me, I'd always pick Spain, 'cause medieval Jewish history is one of my things, and Spain is just the epicenter of all kinds of cool stuff for that.)
Did you know they've found Christian tombstones from Spain with quotations from the Koran on them? Just, you know, making the whole family happy, and getting maximum piety on the marker.

For that matter, what is a principle? Is any belief a principle? Is it always good to cling to beliefs? Must a principle also include action?

Why am I not surprised. They really do see Christianity as a sin as much as you want and get out of jail free card. I probably should leave the full discussion of that to a Christian, but I can't imagine that the Christian view of such things is much different than our own.
It's really, really complicated. There are several completely different concepts about salvation operating within Christianity.
Myself, I prefer Father Guido Sarducci's approach, but you know...

I have to say, my favorite character in The Secrets was the boy Michelle marries. The scene where he throws himself in front of her taxi was cute.
Speaking of which, I had a great conversation with Miss. S. We are getting extremely serious.
Anyway she said the sweetest thing to me. We were talking about baby names and We agreed that we liked the name Abagail (Father's Joy) for a girl and Gabriel Elijah for a boy.
She said she thinks a son of mine needs to hate injustice and fight for the future from the start.
I really do love her.

As a lapsed Methodist (leaning more towards deism), asking for forgiveness for your sins doesn't and shouldn't be treated as a reset button...by asking for forgiveness, you already know you're wrong and should be taking steps to curtail your sinning. Too often though, many do treat asking for forgiveness as a get-out-of-jail-free card.
Lord knows I try to do my best to improve myself...

What you just said is exactly the view of it that Judaism has. The process of Tsuva (repentance) is just that.
Step one is asking forgiveness and resolving to change your ways. Step two is actually repairing the damage you have done as best you can. Step three is having the opportunity to make the same error and getting it right.

I love the echo chamber talk from the troll. Apparently any site that doesn't think that Barack Obama is the "worst President ever!" (ala Ben Quayle) must be a Communist echo chamber. On this site, I see plenty of liberals who love Obama, and plenty of conservatives who think Obama is awful. One of the few places I can go where I can get an actual, rational debate with people I might disagree with. (As the disclaimer, I am a moderate lefty, who voted for neither candidate because I didn't think either had shown they would make a good President. Though the Palin VP pick definitely made me root harder for Obama)

I never said that AGW deniers should be exterminated. Most of you rank and file morons are too stupid to be held accountable for being misled. I said, that those in power who block AGW legislation, and create the anti-science propaganda are guilty of contributing to mass murder. I said that those corporate goons, and pet politicians should be tried for crimes against humanity and punished exactly like any other mass murderer would be punished.
I know that these monsters won't face justice in this world. But their crimes are severe. In a just world they will have to answer for them.
As to wannabe neo-confederates and neo-nazis who decide to rebel against America or to attempt to tear down this nation, if they do so, much like their Southern predecessors, they deserve the full and lethal attentions of the army.

Oh man, I freaking love that expression.
Yeah its a real blessing that Charles took the time to police his blog and purge them. They do nothing but befoul anyplace that they are.
They used to make this place very difficult.
I remember thread after thread of fighting with a lot of them. In many ways they are just repugnant children out to cause as much anonymous grief as possible. It is amazing how much the anonymity of the web makes them feel it is acceptable to be so monstrously rude, uncouth and uneducated.
They say things that in the real world would get them laid out. And I suppose the "freedom" of being that "brave" from the safety of their little computer rooms allows them to imagine that they have some sort of manhood or purpose.
Can you imagine what would happen in the real world if someone like the possum suggested something vile like raping a man's woman to his face? Provided he wasn't killed, I doubt a jury in America would convict over anything that happened to him. Dude, just judging by the very small sample of direct experience (again, thinking of the Jadespring thread here), you're absolutely right. As to the disgusting comments, just close that tab. Really, all the fan club wants is your attention, and they'll say anything get it. Don't give it to them.
Ohh dude the tab is long closed. I go there, because like I said, they are like a zoo exhibit of the right wingnuts. Right, this is the reality of what the teabaggs are.
Conspiracy theories and prejudice always come from feelings of fear, helplessness and powerlessness. These are all pathetic betas. It is because of that that they seek all sorts of payback and it is because of that that truly evil leaders can take advantage of them and perhaps threaten everything we hold dear.
Nazis were also always bullies who fought from cowardice and numbers. For my entire life, I have wondered how Germany could sink so low, what the process was. I see it in America today. Behold the little sniveling brown shirts who are feeling that their imaginary testicles are dropping.

Again fabulous, but I have to say I ever so slightly prefer aki.
Aki has a sort of childish cuteness remaining (hard when one is a pin-up idol), which is why I called her Aki-chan ("chan" being a replacement for "san" when speaking of children). As for the art of seduction, though, Kana is a true master.

AP Iran reactor to be fueled Aug. 21
By JPOST.COM STAFF AND ASSOCIATED PRESS
08/13/2010 13:40
Report: Russia will load fuel into nuclear reactor at Bushehr station.
Russia has announced that it will start loading uranium fuel into the nuclear reactor of the Bushehr nuclear power station in Iran on August 21, a spokesman for Russia's state atomic cooperation reportedly told Reuters Friday.
...
The United States has called for Russia to delay the startup until Iran proves that it's not developing nuclear weapons. Russian officials said that the latest UN sanctions against Iran won't affect the Bushehr project.Russian officials said that Iran had signed a pledge to ship all the spent uranium fuel from Bushehr back to Russia for reprocessing, excluding a possibility that any of it could used to make nuclear weapons.

Meet Iran's Jon Stewart: Parazit's Sharp Cuts
Kambiz Hosseini states that he has "no patience for ta'rouf." He states it very emphatically. In his book The Ayatollah Begs to Differ, Hooman Majd explains that ta'rouf is "a defining Persian characteristic that includes the practice, often infuriating, of small talk, or frustratingly and sometimes incomprehensible back-and-forth niceties." Hosseini, host of the weekly satiric show Parazit on Voice of America's Persian News Network (PNN), is having none of it.
It is hardly necessary for Hosseini to declare his position with such vehemence. In the interview segment of Parazit, the show he co-created with Saman Arbabi, his lack of patience for ta'rouf is unmistakable.
Hosseini once asked his VOA boss if he was an agent of the Islamic Republic. He asked Iranian gay rights activist Arsham Parsi if this was really the time to push for homosexual rights. He asked human rights activist and former CNN anchor Rudi Bakhtiar if she had stated that Ahmadinejad has many followers out of fear that otherwise she would lose access to Iran. He got into a spat with journalist Masih Alinejad about an article that wasn't published on a Green Movement website -- the more Alinejad insisted that the matter was trivial, the more Hosseini insisted that in fact it was vital and that "the people have the right to know."
All this and more has been heard on a program pitched as comedy. Parazit is billed as the show for those who "don't have the patience for news...and all news is bad news." It declares that it is brought to its listeners by the "servants of Mossad and the CIA" to "tickle the foundations of power."
All ta'rouf aside, Hosseini and Arbabi have created a popular and relevant show that has brought Iran's self-mythologizing personalities down to earth with one common denominator -- humor. Hosseini and Arbabi are smartasses, but every episode of Parazit reminds its audience that in order to be a smartass you first have to be smart.

The days turned into years for the owner of the Bistro De Leon restaurant in St. Augustine. Chef Jean Poinard wanted nothing more than to speak to his father, 71-year-old Jean-Francois Poinard, in France.

Langley granny used live grenade as paperweight
We all know grandma’s place can get overstuffed with knick-knacks and tokens from the past, but one Langley granny seems to have taken it too far — by using a live hand grenade for a paperweight.
Whether she was stocking up for Armageddon or just liked how the light reflected off the metal casing will never been known. Police say they’re just glad they removed the weapon before it went off.
RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks said members of Navy Bomb Disposal Team attended the elderly woman’s unit in an unnamed Langley senior’s facility on July 26 after family members stumbled across the grenade.
Marks said the family was helping elderly woman, who is in her late 90s, move from the facility into hospice care. The grenade was apparently being used as a paper weight. Also found were two live rounds of ammunition.
Neither the woman’s family or police have any idea how the mini-arsenal found its way into her unit, Marks said. All three items were removed from the facility and were to be destroyed.

Arrgh. This again. Didn't you read the discussion from yesterday's thread where this got covered?
Started with this post, scroll down to see the conversation.
[Link: littlegreenfootballs.com...]
The claim that Abuelazam is a "Palestinian Arab" came from Debbie Schlussel, and the assertion was repeated at the fever swamp yesterday.
Other rightwing blogs (Brietbart, HotAir, etc) have picked up on the claim and are repeating Schlussel's story.
2nd link down on this cached image:
[Link: webcache.googleusercontent.com...]
From the JPost article that was cited, the only statement that was made regarding his ethnicity was this:
Abuelazam was reported to be a Christian man from Ramle, where he lived with his divorced mother and several uncles.
This is the latest update from JPost, and still says nothing about him being an Arab or Palestinian.
[Link: www.jpost.com...]
By the way, white supremacist sites are now labeling Abuelazam as a "hero" since a majority of his victims were African-Americans.
This one comes from one called "The wandering white" (no google cache, so no link, but it's the first hit on a google search for "Elias Abuelazam hero").
Given his thinly veiled threat to President Obama, I'm forwarding the link to the hosting site's administrators.
Elias Abuelazam, a heroic Israeli Arab (probably Greek Orthodox), has set an example that right-thinking people should follow all over the world. Faced with intractable populations of increasingly dominant, malicious negroes in nations dominated by state-enforced political correctness, cultural Marxist lynch-mob justice, and nearly universal lack of state respect for property rights, whites should take the intiative and resist negro oppression to the fullest extent possible.Weapons of mass destruction should not be ruled out: The prospect of a nuclear weapon killing Islamic Communist mulatto Hussein Obongo and his globalist American federal government lapdogs should delight anyone unwilling to travel the road to serfdom with the united negro and mulatto kleptocrats and Marxo-Keynesians of the world.
Elias Abuelazam, I salute you!
Posted by The Wandering White at 12:20 PM
One more note: The Google search also returned hits on Brietbart's site a few links down, where some readers there were also calling Abuelazam a hero.

Turned on morning news programs today and they're all over the Laura Schlessinger story where she dropped about a dozen n-bombs on her radio program in one segment.
As bad as I thought of her tossing the word around like it was nothing, I was far more disturbed by her ending statement to the caller:
"If you're that hypersensitive about color and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry out of your race."
Apparently Loving v Virginia has little to no meaning for Dr. Schlessinger.

The soldier son of talk radio relationship counselor Laura Schlessinger is under investigation for a graphic personal Web page that one Army official has called “repulsive.” The MySpace page, publicly available until Friday when it disappeared from the Internet, included cartoon depictions of rape, murder, torture and child molestation; photographs of soldiers with guns in their mouths; a photograph of a bound and blindfolded detainee captioned “My Sweet Little Habib”; accounts of illicit drug use; and a blog entry headlined by a series of obscenities and racial epithets.

Popular tour shuttered over terrorism concerns
ST. JOHNSBURY — A popular factory tour at famous maple syrup company has become one of the more obscure casualties of Sept. 11, 2001.
For more than a century, Maple Grove Farms has been bottling syrup and making maple candies at its production facility in St. Johnsbury. For much of that history, curious visitors could stop by to watch the factory floor in action.
Recently however, the company, the largest maple syrup wholesaler in the nation, had to shutter the tour as a result of “food-defense” concerns that have sprouted since terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., nearly nine years ago.
“The times have changed, and we must change with them,” says Steve Jones, general manager at Maple Grove Farms.
The federal government has not instituted a blanket prohibition on factory tours. But post-9/11 guidelines developed by the Department of Homeland Security and Food and Drug Administration have shaped the voluntary food-safety standards that companies like Maple Grove must meet in order to sell their wares to major retailers.
“One of fallouts of those guidelines was to restrict access to food plants a lot more than they ever have been in past,” says Dave Fusaro, editor-in-chief at Food Processing, an industry trade magazine. “Maybe the biggest loss was the plant tour. Used to be you could bring a Boy Scout troop in and walk right through. That ain’t going to happen anymore.”

This wasn't a drive-by, catch a person on the street, guerrilla interview. He was in their studio doing another interview. Good morning, Walter. I would agree with you, except this wasn't a 'drive-by' interview. Rand Paul was in the local Fox news room for a campaign plugging interview on the national network. The local Kentucky FOX affiliate that was hosting him thought that, since he is running for Senate in their state and there are some people asking questions about Aqua Buddha, they might be able to get a little face time with him. And he ran away.
They should have interviewed him while he was waiting for the national spokesmodel to give him his two minutes of fame.

To equate O'Reilly's "ambush" style of journalism where a "reporter" springs forth out of the bushes without warning and shoves a mic in someones face, to a question asked by reporters in a studio for a scheduled interview is ludicrous.

I feel like the focus on Ron Paul's apparently crazy party days during college is a bit off the mark. It appears that nobody was hurt by the incident with "Aqua Buddha", and I doubt that anybody was even all that bothered by it. Frankly, it sounds alot like fairly typical frat boy stuff.
I think there is a certain danger to this kind of story, because it detracts from more legitimate criticism of Paul's policy positions, which are much crazier than his stoner antics. I worry about a media narrative that goes something like this:
Story 1: "Candidate A thinks the civil rights act of 1964 wasn't really a good idea, associated closely with white supremecists, and apparently forced a fellow college student to smoke weed in a college prank gone overboard"
Follow up story: "As it turns out, Candidate A didn't force a fellow college student to smoke weed, it was overblown. The allegation is made by an unnamed source, which cannot be verified. Clearly, Candidate A isn't as crazy as his opponents make him out to be."
The impression gleaned by the retarded electorate: "Ron Paul is being smeared by his opponents using unnamed anonymous sources, and isn't as crazy as everybody is saying. He seems like a relatively normal guy to me. I don't like this kind of personal attack politics. I might vote for Rand Paul."
There is a danger that this kind of story can help defuse the ACTUAL crazy shit Rand Paul stands for if it turns out to be nothing. The focus needs to be on the policy positions that Paul endorses, not the stupid stuff he did when he was 20 that really isn't all that crazy compared to what alot of people here, and alot of voters, have themselves done when they were young. Who cares that he was a stoner in college (I sure don't), he is a fucking racist tool who has no respect or concern for civil rights gains made in the past 50 years, and associates with white supremacists.
Clinton was a stoner in college, and Bush was an alcoholic before he got elected. The electorate didn't care that the past two presidents had crazy childhoods. It is a mistake to think they will care that R.P. did. It helps Paul to have this story out there, in a way, because it distracts from his far more odious traits.

Sure, it's fair game. I wouldn't expect any reporter to pretend it isn't a story. I just also think the focus on the issue helps Paul more than it hurts him. Plus, I am suspicious of any single anonymous source discussing the events of decades ago, especially when those events don't shed any light on the candidate's policy positions.
This is the kind of story that often backfires, and it smells fishy to me. If it turned out to be less than truthful, it may help Paul quite a bit. Americans love underdogs. Lets not help turn this pile of shit into an underdog.

He describes the Clinton's (and himself) as people who hate Obama... a hate.
However, he also talks about how he went to the Whitehouse, and got to play basketball with Obama.... so the whole 'two faces' thing is definitely in play.

I think I said that here in one of my handful of posts the past few months.
I think the next Clinton move will depend on the outcome of the Nov. elections. If we have a huge win for the repubs I wouldn't be surprised to see Hillary resign from here position soon after the new year. If that happens...look out.
Obama's left flank is WIDE open, and Hilary knows this. She has the chops to pull it off. Obama is a little too centrist from the perspective of much of his base. Globally speaking, he is center-right.
However, evidence on this one is lacking. I don't think there's enough to form any kind of conclusion on this, but I would keep one eye on Hilary if I were Obama.

Politicians are in charge of the modern economy in much the same way as a sailor is in charge of a small boat in a storm. The consequences of their losing control completely may be catastrophic (as civil war and hyperinflation in parts of the former Soviet empire have recently reminded us), but even while they keep afloat, their influence over the course of events is tiny in comparison with that of the storm around them. We who are their passengers may focus our hopes and fears upon them, and express profound gratitude toward them if we reach harbor safely, but that is chiefly because it seems pointless to thank the storm.

Ain't that the fucking truth.
Policy does matter as regards the economy, but it isn't like it is possible to design a "fix the economy" bill that would somehow repair everything. Economies move slowly, organically, and the current situation will take time for us to work our way out of no matter who is in charge.
It is certainly possible for administration policy to help or hurt things, but in either case, it will take years for the effects to be felt.

The Canadian and US economies are connected in many ways. There is an old Canadian joke that when the US sneezes, Canada catches a cold.
This "worst economic downturn since the great depression" was different. Canada was not nearly as affected (effected?) as we would have thought. The conservative government in Canada (I think it is the first time in history where Canada has a more conservative government that the US) did things very differently. Both before and after the downturn.
For example in Canada housing prices were stable, and so were employment numbers.
History will teach us who was to blame, however we need the distance from it. I have my theory of course.

While it may be true that the President/Congress has little control of the economy short term, but the actions of those people in charge in Washington sets the tone for the perception of the economy. Gohmert Continues to Push ‘Terror Babies’ Debate on 14th Amendment
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.) reasserted his claim last night that Al Qaeda may be sending women to the U.S. to birth a contingent of future terrorists credentialed with American passports.
Gohmert argued with host Anderson Cooper, who asked him to provide proof to back up his claims about the phenomenon. He said “the evidence abounds” but failed to produce a source for his information, other than an anonymous former FBI agent. (Watch the video here.)

I hope so too. There is a good chance we (I) won't hear anything for a week or so. I know his arrangements, he has two good people with him, and one of the best medical teams working on this. I told him to try to contact me first, so I don't wind up bothering him.
So, I'm leaving it up to him to get back to me (us) with information when/as he can.
But after about a week, if I don't hear from him, I'll be all over New Mexico trying to get a status. I have emails address', phone numbers and names... I got names...

I'm no longer sure that anything "is too nutty even for the nutters". As appalled as I was about the behavior of the left during the Bush Presidency, the right has gone light-years beyond that since President Obama became the Democratic nominee.
The concept of sane-and-loyal-but-disagreeing seems to have met its demise about 13-14 years ago.

We disagree. I think that there are a lot more US made products at Wal-Mart than you give credit for. Especially in the 90's. I also think you minimize the benefits of lower consumer prices on the overall economy.
It might be that some factory jobs were lost, but many other jobs were created. I know that Union propaganda would like it to seem like they were crappy jobs, but the reality is that building the buildings, staffing the wearhouses, the trucking, the computers, the management.... and even the front line staff meant huge employment gains.
Was this President Clintons doing, of course not, but it happened on his watch, and IMO contributed to the economic gains of that time.

Arrgh. This again. Didn't you read the discussion from yesterday's thread where this got covered?
Started with this post, scroll down to see the conversation.
[Link: littlegreenfootballs.com...]The claim that Abuelazam is a "Palestinian Arab" came from Debbie Schlussel, and the assertion was repeated at the fever swamp yesterday.
Other rightwing blogs (Brietbart, HotAir, etc) have picked up on the claim and are repeating Schlussel's story.2nd link down on this cached image:
[Link: webcache.googleusercontent.com...]From the JPost article that was cited, the only statement that was made regarding his ethnicity was this:
This is the latest update from JPost, and still says nothing about him being an Arab or Palestinian.
[Link: www.jpost.com...]
By the way, white supremacist sites are now labeling Abuelazam as a "hero" since a majority of his victims were African-Americans.
This one comes from one called "The wandering white" (no google cache, so no link, but it's the first hit on a google search for "Elias Abuelazam hero").
Given his thinly veiled threat to President Obama, I'm forwarding the link to the hosting site's administrators. One more note: The Google search also returned hits on Brietbart's site a few links down, where some readers there were also calling Abuelazam a hero.

Now that's an angle I hadn't forseen.

Turned on morning news programs today and they're all over the Laura Schlessinger story where she dropped about a dozen n-bombs on her radio program in one segment.
As bad as I thought of her tossing the word around like it was nothing, I was far more disturbed by her ending statement to the caller:
"If you're that hypersensitive about color and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry out of your race."Apparently Loving v Virginia has little to no meaning for Dr. Schlessinger.

This is a non-story. Rand Paul implicitly admits that he might have smoked weed and participated in harmless pranks in college. Big deal. This wasn't a "Fox News" reporter that he was dodging. It was a local Fox affiliate badgering him after his interview was over on a topic that he doesn't care to talk about because what is there to say other than "Sure, I might have smoked some weed and goofed off a bit, but so what?"

I can only express my upright thanks and profound respect that you have come out over that tremendous experience, if not with your personality then with your profession. Spiritual abuse is just like sexual abuse: Precisely the same acts, based on the freedom of will can be perfectly right, and based on the overwhelming of the fellow creature they are horribly wrong. It does not matter what is the content of the procedure (although it seems questionable how the distance to the source was neglected, I would personally recommend to check what's upstream first before trusting the water) nor whether that might be of such nature that it would inspire the honest to seek retreat rather than publicity (as many traditions of faith recommend it for acts of worship). The only thing that matters is that the overwhelming of the personality intended with the construct is essentially the same as the overwhelming of the sexuality intended with an act of abuse. Which leaves the perpetrators behind as a gang of mind rapists. For precisely this reason, in a totalitarian society they would be government officials, of the type which does not prefer to serve in any other branch of government than the one it does, to put it bluntly. In a planetary perspective, just as with the sexual abuse in the Church, at this point we have only seen the tip of the iceberg, represented in this iconic as well as iconoclastic case, and quite likely there is more to come as these who were affected by it over the time are getting ready to reclaim their liberty. Maybe it is so that if the Church is in such a rotten state there is nothing to prevent societies from devolving into organized spiritual abuse. The only mystery here is how the perps could come to think they could get away with it.
