Ann Coulter: RINO, Sodomy Supporter

Wingnuts • Views: 7,897

Joseph Farah of World Net Daily is excommunicating Ann Coulter from the Church of Bad Craziness, because she’s speaking at a conference sponsored by Republican gay organization GOProud. Watch out! It’s a right wing theocratic homophobic slapfight!

WND dumps Ann Coulter from Miami due to Homoconflict. (Yes, that really is their title.)

WASHINGTON – Conservative superstar Ann Coulter today was dropped as a keynote speaker for WND’s “Taking America Back National Conference” next month because of her plan to address an event titled “HOMOCON” sponsored by the homosexual Republican group GOProud that promotes same-sex marriage and military service for open homosexuals.

Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND, said the decision was a gut-wrenching one for his team because of their fondness for Coulter as both a person and writer-speaker.

“Ultimately, as a matter of principle, it would not make sense for us to have Ann speak to a conference about ‘taking America back’ when she clearly does not recognize that the ideals to be espoused there simply do not include the radical and very ‘unconservative’ agenda represented by GOProud,” said Farah. “The drift of the conservative movement to a brand of materialistic libertarianism is one of the main reasons we planned this conference from the beginning.”

Asked by Farah why she was speaking to GOProud, Coulter said: “They hired me to give a speech, so I’m giving a speech. I do it all the time.”

Farah then asked: “Do you not understand you are legitimizing a group that is fighting for same-sex marriage and open homosexuality in the military – not to mention the idea that sodomy is just an alternate lifestyle?”

Popcorn time!

Me, I think she is the T in LGBT.

By time they get done, there won’t be enough of them left to elect an alderman.

6 Cato the Elder  Wed, Aug 18, 2010 12:26:10am

Didn’t I just say, on the last thread, that Ann Orexia Coulter perfected “Dr Laura” away from her specious Judaism?

I don’t know for sure what the psychosexual procedure was, but I’m relatively sure it involved high lace-up boots and leather toys.

Nah, they’ve got at least ten years left they’ll be pulling solid majorities in any district south of the Mason-Dixon line and east of the Missisippi. Except Florida. And Virginia. And North Carolina. And Atlanta.

um…

They’ll still win anyplace where people love the Constitution, except for the 1st Amendment. And the 14th. And the 4th and 5th and 8th. And maybe the 17th.

um…

They’ll still win anyplace where clear channel AM is the only radio, and Fox is the only cable news.

8 sagehen  Wed, Aug 18, 2010 12:28:09am

And Oklahoma. They’ve still got a long run ahead of them in Oklahoma.

One thing is certain, Ann makes a great athletic supporter.

12 Sol Berdinowitz  Wed, Aug 18, 2010 12:50:42am

Even Bush begrudgingly addressed the Log Cabin Republicans.

Because aside from the moralistic family issues, many gays are potential supporters of the Republican platform: they tend not to have families or own homes in the suburbs, leaving them without the tax deductions that families enjoy and making them more open to Republican promises of lower taxes and less government.

But the GOP has decided that moral and ideological purity must be their guiding light and are ready to abandon all those who would even address them in public.

Ann comes right out and says she’s just doing it for the money:

Asked by Farah why she was speaking to GOProud, Coulter said: “They hired me to give a speech, so I’m giving a speech. I do it all the time.”

Oh, and this lovely comment:

The main thing I do is speak on college campuses, which is about the equivalent of speaking at an al-Qaida conference.

American Colleges = al-Qaida.

What a freakshow.

Coulter will remain a weekly columnist for WND.

“There’s a different standard for columnists and speakers at our conference,” Farah explained.

Yeah, she makes too much money for them as a columnist. That’s the “different standard.”

Okay, seriously now, what the hell is wrong with people?:

A Congressional candidate told local high school and middle school students Tuesday that Islam’s plan is to destroy the American way of life.

“I’m totally against it. If I had my way, it would pretty much be over my dead body,” said Ron McNeil, a candidate for the U.S. House District 2 seat, who was referring to a controversial plan to build an Islamic center and mosque near Ground Zero in New York City. “That religion is against everything America stands for. If we have to let them build it, make them build it nine stories underground, so we can walk above it as citizens and Christians.”

Some people in the audience applauded McNeil’s response. However, one student appeared up-set and asked McNeil what gave him or the federal government the right to tell an American that they can’t build an institution.

“This religion’s plan is to destroy our way of life,” McNeil said.

The student responded by saying he did not feel it was a Christian’s place to determine whether Islam is right or wrong.

“It’s our place as Christians to stand up for the word of God and what the Bible says,” McNeil replied.

Dianne Berryhill, an independent candidate for the Congressional seat now held by Rep. Allen Boyd, D-Monticello, also weighed in on the proposed mosque.

“If we were under Muslim law, you girls wouldn’t be sitting here showing any kind of skin. You would be in hot burqas and … you wouldn’t be sitting in school,” she said.

Using children to sell inequality, where have I seen this tactic before? Oh yeah, from the gays make inferior parents bigot brigade. Also the muslim woman who was denied becoming a foster parent because she wouldn’t allow pork in her home.

It’s not even a new tactic: Using children to sell inequality goes way, way back, and it didn’t end with Brown v. Board of Ed.

It’s quite the work. McNeil claims of Einstein:

Einstein’s theory of relativity is what we based the entire space program on, and then we used it successfully to land men on the moon.

Um, no, not even close. McNeil has as many misbeliefs about this subject as Conservapedia, only different ones.

Oh, and why is he concerned about Einstein?

Recently reported by FOXNews.com, in an article written by Kelly Shackelford, ―Why the Texas Textbook Wars Matter to Every American‖:

…a liberal onslaught has been unleashed to try to influence these education standards. An unelected review panel, not the elected members of Texas State Board of Education, attempt to push through a number of highly questionable changes to the standards – removing Independence Day, Neil Armstrong, Daniel Boone, and Christopher Columbus – from them. They even dumped Christmas and replaced it with Diwali. You can’t make this stuff up! After a huge outcry from citizens and strong leadership by conservatives on the Texas State Board of Education, each of these changes was reversed. Sadly the attacks didn’t stop there. Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison were removed from World History, yet Mary Kay and Wallace Amos (of Famous Amos Cookies) were added, it appears, for more ―diversity.‖

Well, that pretty much tells us from where Mr. McNeil gets his information.

It’s late. I can’t read it all but Einstein had nothing to do with the space program. We used Newtonian physics to get there and we still use it to get spacecraft from planet to planet.

AP Poll: Obama at new low for handling economy
By LIZ SIDOTI (AP) – 3 hours ago

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama earned his lowest marks ever on his handling of the economy in a new Associated Press-GfK poll, which also found that an overwhelming majority of Americans now describe the nation’s financial outlook as poor.

A frustrated electorate could take it out on the party in power — Obama’s Democrats — in the November elections.

Eleven weeks before the Nov. 2 balloting, just 41 percent of those surveyed approve of the president’s performance on the economy, down from 44 percent in April, while 56 percent disapprove. And 61 percent say the economy has gotten worse or stayed the same on Obama’s watch.

Being a ‘bear’ got it’s start in SF.

On a related note:

Of course, you may have met them without knowing it— the older generation of ‘bears’ came about due to gay men who preferred an unconscious display of masculinity to a conscious ‘gay’ profile.

Like any other gay subgroup, it’s changed markedly over time, especially as mainstream acceptance of gays increased and there became less of a value in concealment. Some bears these days are what I’d call ‘hypermasculine’, in a way that can, depending on who is doing it, either be kind of funny or downright scary.

228M eggs recalled following salmonella outbreak

[Link: news.yahoo.com…]

“WASHINGTON – An Iowa egg producer is recalling 228 million eggs after being linked to an outbreak of salmonella poisoning.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said eggs from Wright County Egg in Galt, Iowa, were linked to several illnesses in Colorado, California and Minnesota. The CDC said about 200 cases of the strain of salmonella linked to the eggs were reported weekly during June and July, four times the normal number of such occurrences.

State health officials say tainted eggs have sickened at least 266 Californians and seven in Minnesota.

The eggs were distributed around the country and packaged under the names Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Boomsma’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemp.”

Why Sharks Circle You Before Attacking

Two great white sharks swimming in the ocean spied survivors of a sunken ship. “Follow me son” the father shark said to the son shark and they swam to the mass of people. “First we swim around them a few times with just the tip of our fins showing.” And they did. “Well done, son! Now we swim around them a few times with all of our fins showing.” And they did. “Now we eat everybody.” And they did.

When they were both gorged, the son asked, “Dad, why didn’t we just eat them all at first? Why did we swim around and around them?”

His wise father replied, “Because they taste better without the shit inside!”

The issue I have is the pain from the shoe pressing on the inflammation while I’m wearing it. And the pain affecting sleeping at night. Right now I’m on the tail-end of the attack and getting by wearing a shoe that is roomy in the right area. “It is inherently phony” isn’t an answer, Spare. And all you really did was accuse yourself of tautology— if roleplaing is inherently phony, then ‘phony roleplaying’ is a pleonasm.

Gay people are people. They play a role, they have an outer face, like all of us do. But yes, there’s a lot more obsession with those ‘roles’ than there are with heterosexual roles, in general, since gay people are the ‘other’.

It’s kind of like the ‘why do they have to be public with their sexuality?’ stuff, while all around us, on every billboard and on every commercial, heterosexual activity is plastered.

It’s inherently impossible to provide an example— it’s like the word ‘indescribable’; self-disproving.

Phony, not phoney. Phoney is when you speak nonsense on the phone a lot.
Assuming role play to be purposeful behaviour, it is inherently phony.
Can you explain why you ask?

I’m a pretty masculine upper middle class guy, and I generally date ‘petite’ feminine women from a similar socio-economic background. How is that any more or any less of a role than a gay man who embraces an even more masculine side and dates similar men?

re: #167 Obdicut

“Gay people are people” is a tautology and “they play a role” goes without saying. Such defensive platitudes may be appropriate in response to an attack on gays, but that is clearly not what I was doing.
Role playing is indeed inherently phony, for the reason I stated.
Can you explain your need to nit-pick?

LOL!

It’s not “role-playing”, you misunderstand… a “bear” is simply a hairy, somewhat heavy-set gay man. Bears, cubs, twinks, etc… it’s about body types.

Oh I don’t know. I’m not going to pretend that I understand the machinations of gay subcultures. But I do know primarily hetero subcultures pretty well. Emo, Goth, bikers, Indie rockers - these are all people who visually are fairly easy to peg and for some reason or another, are not comfortable in the skin their in, find ways to dress it up to connect with people with similar interests.

If one is just being oneself and doing what comes naturally, then that is not role-playing.

If that’s the definition we’re using, I don’t see a lot of role playing in any of the gay or freak communities I frequent. At least not as much as I see in the upper middle class folks I travel with who pretend to be bikers, or rockers, or some other shit on the weekends. We don’t call that role playing, we call it being a tourist.

We all make choices based on how we prioritize the world. It may seem perfectly normal to you to go to college, get a job and make a conscious contribution to the political economy. It is to my wife. These things literally did not occur to me till I was in my late 30’s. Am I role playing? Dunno, you wouldn’t be the first to declare that I am (that was my mom). But working under your definition, I’ve been living my life pretty quite naturally, and in my estimation, quite honestly,

Bear: Generally considered to be a larger, hairy gay man with more masculine mannerisms.

Me: Generally considered to be a larger, hairy straight man with more masculine mannerisms.

If the first is role playing, and the 2nd isn’t the only difference is sexuality.

Jesus christ, dude, this is a conversation, not a trial. Though you’re rather making it into one.

Yes, I feel that by asking your original question about whether there is more ‘role-playing’ in the gay community— implicitly saying that bears are ‘role-playing’— you were drawing a false distinction between (more accurately) one subgroup of gays and people in general. There is no ‘roleplaying’ that exists for bears that doesn’t exist for other human being— unless you can provide a definition of ‘roleplaying’ that somehow does.

Now you’re pretending you weren’t saying that bears are role-playing, however.

Greets and saluts from the office of lawhawk overlooking Ground Zero. No sign of minarets and no sound of the muezzin call to prayer, even as this is Ramadan. /

We do, however, have signs of stupidity and criminality. Someone vandalized the 9/11 memorial on Staten Island (again). Gov. Paterson is in hot water with the Public Integrity Commission, and he’s also hoping to have a meeting with SoHo Properties to get them to find another location even though SoHo Properties has no interest in moving (pandering all the while to those New Yorkers who are opposed to the project).

Moreover, let’s say that they agree to move to somewhere else in Lower Manhattan. Where exactly would be acceptable? Two blocks isn’t far enough from Ground Zero according to opponents (.1 mile), but there are several other mosques in the area, and it’s not like anything is that far from anything else in Lower Manhattan (one of the more compact areas in the country and replete with skyscrapers).

What kind of precedent would be set with demanding the move to a different location based on a sphere of “sacredness of Ground Zero” that violates the First Amendment.

Yes, there are gay guys who consciously engage in ‘gay’ behavior, like drag shows, etc. Just like there are straight guys who consciously engage in ‘straight’ behavior.

Do you consider it ‘phony roleplaying’ when someone consciously tries to act a certain way? Why? What is your objection to defining what the hell you mean by ‘roleplaying’ so that your point of view has a chance of making sense?

Then you have no clue what I’m ‘accusing’ you of doing.

Can you define ‘roleplaying’, in the way that you meant it, so that I can actually understand what you’re saying? Or do you feel you ‘win’ when you make what you’re saying incomprehensible?

Dude, look it up.
Also, reread the thread and you will see that what I said is perfectly clear.
For reasons best known to you, my simple, straightforward question has attracted a persistent dose of your incessant nit-picking and half-baked accusations and insults.

Telling someone to ‘look up’ the definition of a word with as myriad meanings as “roleplaying” is a dodge. I’m asking you, in the context of what you said, what you mean by “roleplaying” that doesn’t apply to every human being ever. Your only response has been to say that people who aren’t roleplaying just act ‘naturally’— another word that you’d need to define in order to mean anything.

It is not my fault that you’re not able to define your terms well enough for what you’re saying to make sense. If you don’t want what you say to be ‘nitpicked’, then answering questions about, say, what you mean by ‘roleplaying’ would help.

Basically, your original question can’t be answered unless you define ‘roleplaying’, and for some reason you refuse to do so.

Why would anyone that makes less than 250k/year vote for today’s GOP candidates?
Because the Democrat candidates are worse? Christie v. Corzine comes to mind in NJ.

Why do voters consistently vote against their best interest?
See Rangel, Charles. You bring home the bacon, but you break the law at every turn showing absolute disdain for the rule of law, ethics, and the very tax code that you enact (and write). His constituents love him enough to send him back to DC election after election. Heck, they reelected him comfortably in 2008 despite the revelations about his tax cheating ways becoming an issue during the months leading up to the election. And I suspect he’ll be reelected in November, even as his case goes to the House to decide his fate (and even then, a slap on the wrist will be all he likely gets whereas anyone else in his position would have gotten hit with serious fines and sanctions).

If people voted according to their best self interest, the GOP would get less than 5% of the vote.
They would toss Democrats out left and right in the NYC metro area because the Democrats have controlled the legislature in NJ for decades - with disastrous results for the state budget and NYC and NY budgets have been disastrous for years with absolutely no fiscal accountability or responsibility, leaving taxpayers on the hook for billions.

For NY Democrats, a “fiscally responsible budget” this year is one that was 2.6% higher than last year’s budget, but required more than $1 billion in new taxes and fees. Cut out the higher taxes and fees and keep spending flat didn’t ever enter the equation, despite the fact that the state is essentially bankrupt.

You don’t actually get to declare ‘end of discussion’, dude. That’s kind of weird.

That’s a very odd definition of ‘roleplaying’. If someone consciously tries to be a good person, according to your definition, they’d be ‘roleplaying’. Your definition doesn’t really make any sense, especially in context.

It also doesn’t actually work at all, since you said that roleplaying is inherently phony— you’re now taking the completely fucking ridiculous position that all conscious behavior is ‘phony’.

This is a completely incoherent and contradictory explanation of what you meant.

Temper, temper.

I’m not made, angry, I’m laughing at you. And now that you directed me to the comment that started this topic between you and Spare, I have to say that is one of the more stupid questions I’ve heard in a long time.

(Spare) Is there more of an obsession with phony role-playing among gays than in society at large, or is it just that it attracts more attention from gawkers?

More role playing. What the fuck does that mean? Does Spare mean acting out in public, like straights do at bars, sports events, concerts? Does he mean dressing up like at Comic Con, getting together to watch the academy awards, Halloween?

I’ve been among the gay community for over 40 years, and I’ve never notice more or less role playing (what ever that means to start with). I’ve seen as much “dressing up” in society in general as I’ve seen among gay men (and woman).

Stupid question in my opinion.

P.S. Bears are a little more complex than just the issue of projecting more masculinity, a lot of bears group together because they are “rebelling” against the more accepted good-looking, sexy, thin gays. A lot of bears hang together because they are overweight and are not as attractive to the rest of the gay community.

Which is the same thing we find in a straight society, prejudice against people who are heavyset, not as glamourous as the popular model, not one of the beautiful people.

Some crazy Imam Rauf quotes from that story:

“We have to be very much more vocal about protecting human rights and planting the seeds of democratic regimes throughout the Arab and Muslim world,” he told Katie Couric, then with NBC, during an interview in October 2001.
-Extremist!!!!

“Islamic extremism for the majority of Muslims is an oxymoron,” he said. “It is a fundamental contradiction in terms.”
-Radical!!!!

“Imam Feisal has participated at the Aspen Institute in Muslim-Christian-Jewish working groups looking at ways to promote greater religious tolerance,” Walter Isaacson, head of The Aspen Institute told the Huffington Post. “He has consistently denounced radical Islam and terrorism, and promoted a moderate and tolerant Islam. Some of this work was done under the auspices of his own group, the Cordoba Initiative. I liked his book, and I participated in some of the meetings in 2004 or so. This is why I find it a shame that his good work is being undermined by this inflamed dispute. He is the type of leader we should be celebrating in America, not undermining.”

A post (headline) in which I agree with Barney Frank (D-MA):

Abolish Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The problem, of course, is that no one knows what should replace ‘em and what to do with the trillions in obligations that taxpayers are on the hook for - Frank and many on the GOP side included.

Tighter lending standards that require lenders to check whether borrowers can repay should be key to any long term strategy. Weakening lending standards helped grow the crisis. Easy money and a rising real estate market made it seem like money was free - cheap and risk free.

Keeping the risk of loss on the parties to the contract should be paramount - the borrower and the lenders.

Some crazy Imam Rauf quotes from that story:

“We have to be very much more vocal about protecting human rights and planting the seeds of democratic regimes throughout the Arab and Muslim world,” he told Katie Couric, then with NBC, during an interview in October 2001.
-Extremist!!!

“Islamic extremism for the majority of Muslims is an oxymoron,” he said. “It is a fundamental contradiction in terms.”
-Radical!!!

You should Page that. The more quotes the better.

And the building scrape the sky,
Cold wind ripping down the allay at dawn

The Minnesota Court of Appeals has upheld a penalty of $139,800 that state Education Commissioner Alice Seagren imposed against a metro-area charter school for employing teachers who lacked proper licenses.

In an unpublished opinion filed Tuesday, Judge Michelle Larkin wrote that Seagren did not abuse her discretion when she withheld state aid from Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy (TiZA).

In November, Seagren ruled that eight teachers at TiZA did not have proper licenses in the spring of 2009, when Minnesota Department of Education officials investigated complaints of licensure violations at the school.

SNIP

Officials at the school also threatened parents.

Most of us occasionally have differences of opinion with our neighborhood public school. If you voice your complaints, you may risk a frown from the principal or a cold shoulder from other parents at a school softball game.

But at one Minnesota public school, critics may be in for something more sinister. Khalid Elmasry says in an affidavit that after he criticized Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy (TiZA), which his child used to attend, the school’s executive director made a statement at a parent meeting that Elmasry took “as an attempt to incite violence against me and my family.” Even more disturbing is what Janeha Edwards — a former administrative assistant at the school — says in an affidavit the director suggested after she displeased him: “We could just kill you, yeah tell your husband we’ll do his job for him.”

These bizarre developments are described in documents filed in a legal battle royal between TiZA — a K-8 charter school with campuses in Inver Grove Heights and Blaine — and the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota. Last year, the ACLU filed a federal suit claiming that TiZA impermissibly promotes religion.

SNIP

Elmasry is one witness who sought such protection. In January, he testified about TiZA’s financial entanglement with the Muslim American Society of Minnesota at a Minnesota Senate subcommittee hearing on charter school lease aid. Shortly thereafter, Elmasry says in an affidavit, he was informed by a friend and TIZA parent that TiZA authorities had called a parent meeting, where they showed a video of Elmasry’s testimony. Then, according to the parent’s account, Asad Zaman, the school’s director and an imam — or Muslim religious leader — accused Elmasry of talking to the Minnesota Department of Education and “selling” his “Iman,” meaning his Islamic faith, according to Elmasry’s affidavit.

Elmasry was frightened, he says. “It is well-known in Islam that a Muslim who rejects his or her faith is committing an act punishable by death,” according to his affidavit. “There are many accounts of Muslims taking matters into their own hands and killing people they believe have sold or rejected their Islamic faith or Iman.”

Uganda has charged 32 people in connection with the July 11 bomb attacks in Kampala which killed 76 people as they watched the World Cup final, the country’s chief prosecutor said Wednesday.

Four Ugandan alleged masterminds were among the 32 who were charged with 76 counts of murder, 10 counts of attempted murder and committing acts of terrorism, the director of public prosecutions Richard Butera told AFP.

SNIP

Among the defendants are 14 Ugandans, 10 Kenyans, six Somalis, one Rwandan and one Pakistani, according to a list published Tuesday by the state-controlled New Vision newspaper.

SNIP

Mugira said Uganda has apprehended “all those responsible” for carrying out the attacks, which have been claimed by Somalia’s Al-Qaeda inspired Shebab Islamists.

Two of the Ugandans who confessed last week said they had fought alongside Shebab in Somalia but were ordered earlier this year to return to Kampala to plan and execute the July 11 attacks.

Morning all.

I have been really disappointed with polling concerning the Corboda House. All these polls have just asked whether or not people oppose it. This, of course, ignores whether or not people think the government should intervene or whether they have the legal right to build it.

So, it’s nice to see this:

ew York voters oppose by a nearly 2-to-1 margin plans to build an Islamic community center and mosque near Ground Zero in Manhattan, according to a new Siena Research Institute poll released Wednesday.

The same voters, however, overwhelmingly say the center’s developers have a constitutional right to build it.

When asked if they “support or oppose the proposal to build the Cordoba House,” New Yorkers said they oppose the facility, which is expected to cost $100 million, by a 63-27 percent margin. At the same time, by a 64-to-28 percent margin, New Yorkers say Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf has the constitutional right to build it.

“A majority of every demographic group – by party, region, age, gender, political philosophy – agrees that there is a Constitutional right to proceed,” said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg. “Even a majority of those who oppose building the mosque agree by a margin of 51-42 percent that they have the right to build it.”

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released August 11 marked nationwide opposition to the proposed facility at 68 percent.

The Siena poll has a sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percent. It was conducted by phone with 788 New York State voters from August 9-16.

[Link: news.yahoo.com…]

Yeah, I know troll troll blah blah blah…

It does not matter how many people buy the bullshit of the Bigot Brigade. We have laws in this country and a Constitution, and the creeps haven’t been able to rewrite it yet.

And yes, a lot of the people who are mindlessly opposed to the Cordoba House have simply given in to bigotry.

389 HappyWarrior  Wed, Aug 18, 2010 10:00:04am

I am baffled by critics of Park51 who bring up that a majority of Americans oppose it but totally gloss over the fact that a majority of Manhattan residents support it. How is the opinion of someone who chances are will never see this community center matter more than someone who will see it every day. If you’re going to talk about the polling, at least focus on the people who actually live in the area.

390 Gus  Wed, Aug 18, 2010 10:00:39am

This might be something for people that texting while driving should think about.

Celebrity plastic surgeon apparently Twittered minutes before deadly crash

Reid said investigators have not confirmed the cause of the crash but were looking into whether text messaging or Twittering may have played a role.

“We’re looking into that along with many other factors,” Reid said.
Ryan’s ex-girlfriend, Los Angeles publicist Charmaine Blake, told People magazine on Tuesday that Ryan was “texting while driving and he accidentally went over the cliff.”

It does not matter how many people support or oppose it. They own the property and they have a legal right to build there. Period, finished, end of conversation.

I’ve asked my readers to point out on a map where they find it acceptable for them to build the community center in Lower Manhattan. I was curious to see just where they think it acceptable.

Have you gotten any results yet?

Oh absolutely I agree. I just find it really funny that the critics have been saying that a majority of Americans oppose Park51 but they never bring up as Charles has showed that a majority of Manhannites support the project. I don’t care if a majority of people oppose it. People are letting their emotions get in the way of constituional rights and that is always wrong.

Might be in certain states already. Of course laws like that tend to be ignored. But, it would cut down on accidents and fatalities because of those that would observe the law.

re: #385 Fozzie Bear

I know that. Bear in mind also that when the towers collapsed, the billowing smoke and pulverized towers (all the people, concrete, steel, and other materials in the towers) were sent all over Lower Manhattan, across into Brooklyn, and cast away as far as New Jersey and one could smell the fires for weeks after up past 14th Street depending on which way the wind blew.

In other words, if someone is claiming that because the Burlington Coat Factory was hit by debris from the tower somehow makes it off-limits to construction, the same can be said for any other buildings within the cloud of debris. That would seemingly push construction out of Lower Manhattan altogether, and out of CB1, which approved its siting.

Grilled pork chops on a stick? A pork-a-bob?

Somewhat like that, yes. Except it’s actually the whole pork chop, bone-in, grilled and seasoned and stabbed with a skewer. As a general rule of thumb, when it comes to Minnesota fair food, it has to be either deep-fried or on a stick or it doesn’t count. Bonus points if it’s both.

It is illegal in Arkansas to text while driving.
I’m amazed that there needs to be a law….

(and I’ll admit when I see stories like the Doctor’s (or those young folks who went out looking for the bus from Into the Wild) who die I think “nature culling the herd” but then I feel guilty to think things like that and hope my son never dies doing something stupid.)

Glenn Beck Outrages The Right By Saying Gay Marriage Poses No Threat

Last week, Glenn Beck made news when he said that he didn’t think issues like abortion or gay marriage were all that important and didn’t pose a threat to the nation.

Needless to say, that is not sitting well with the Right and Beck is now coming under attack from people like David Kupelian, who are accusing him of abandoning core conservative values:

Thanks for the zoning map. In fact, it looks like the group couldn’t find any other property zoned C6-4 in Lower Manhattan further away within CB1.

The other properties zoned C6-4 are across the street from City Hall outside the district or a parcel in Battery Park City diagonally across from Ground Zero - direct line of sight.

The C6-4 has a floor area ratio of 10 (medium bulk office building).

True but not all opposition are bigots. I have a good friend in south asia who has a mosque next door his house. He is the most accepting of people but he also complain. The masjid speakers wail the 5 times a day and his living room vibrates and thats not the only complaint. It was quite unsettling when I stayed there to hear it at 4:30 am and I did hear some mumbling about “Osama Bin Laden, Oh great warrior of Islam”. This was in a nice enough neighborhood of Jakarta and not Yemen. That said I am sure “Cordoba” will not be the same as this is 21st century Manhattan & I could personally care less that it is built in that area.
