The Shrieking Harpy Shrieks to TPM

Talking Points Memo interviews hate monger Pamela Geller, and what comes through more than anything else is Geller’s obsessive paranoid xenophobia. She sees all Muslims, even American citizens who live and work in the same city she does, and who were shocked and devastated on 9/11 just like she was, as cultural invaders with nasty traditions and violent tendencies and secret sympathy for mass murder. All of them. No exceptions. For Pamela Geller, there’s no difference between the developers of the Cordoba House project and Osama bin Laden.

And she spouts this kind of stuff even as she claims not to hate Muslims.

Also see Jeffrey Goldberg’s reaction to the Geller-thing’s seemingly increasing influence: The Rise of Shrieking Bigot Pamela Geller.

There is a very depressing story today in The Washington Post about the lunatic racist Pamela Geller, who has been leading the crusade against the so-called Ground Zero mosque. This is a woman who once called me a “Jewicidal Jihadi” for advocating for peace and compromise in the Middle East. It’s a clever phrase, true, but, moi? In other dank corners of the Interwebs, I’m thought of as a blood-and-soil Jewish nationalist. I didn’t really address her charges at the time, because it was my impression that Geller was a marginal nutbag, but it seems as if she’s setting the national agenda now on matters related to Islam and religious freedom. To which I say, Jesus H. Christ.

Here’s the Washington Post article to which Jeffrey’s referring: The pens of anti-Muslim conservatives impact N.Y.C. mosque debate mightily.

I spoke with the writer, Michelle Boorstein, and I had much more to say about Geller and her anti-Muslim cohort Robert Spencer; but this is all that made it into the article:

Charles Johnson, creator of the national security blog Little Green Footballs, called Spencer and Geller “very influential.” Listening to Gingrich’s comments about Islamic law, he said, “Newt sounded a lot like he got it from Pam Geller.”
