Glenn Beck: Materialist, Sodomy Supporter

Wingnuts • Views: 4,069

The head kook at World Net Daily, Joseph Farah, is really throwing down lately. First, he excommunicated Ann Coulter. Now he’s casting out the host of the Glenn Beck Comedy Hour: Glenn Beck – material boy.

There you have it. Beck doesn’t care about one of the most blatant and despicable examples of judicial tyranny in the history of our country. He doesn’t care about the institution of marriage and its 5,000-year history. He doesn’t care that the Bible says God created marriage way back in Genesis and that Jesus affirmed that. He doesn’t care that the family is the building block of a society and that smarter men have explained how you simply can’t have freedom and self-governance without it. He also doesn’t seem to care about what might become of children adopted into such unions.

That, my friends, is the perfect illustration of what’s wrong with the materialist worldview – whether it is held by a raving Marxist or a conservative entertainer.

That’s right — Farah is denouncing Beck not because he’s too hateful, but because he’s not hateful enough. Those wingnuts! What will they think next?

Somehow I don't think Glenn Beck needs WND as much as WND needs Glenn Beck.

This will play out to it's logical conclusion. Joseph Farah will be committed to a mental institution upon shooting his own reflection in a mirror for being a WNINO.

Being stupid, selfish, and a self righteous bigoted asshole is no way to go thru life Joe.

When the mean has been shifted this far to the right, the "true reactionaries" make Fox into a new "mainstream" for the GOP types.

We can only hope that these inevitable battles over ideological purity divide their camp and thus weaken the whole sick lot of the far right.

Interesting how many times it comes to pass that when someone emphatically tells you what the Bible says, what he says it says is not what it says.

The Genesis story (if he's talking about in the beginning, which I guess he is) does not say God created marriage. He gave Eve to Adam as his mate, not his wife. The rest is cultural embrocade.

Actually the text is pretty clear that Eve was his wife. An interesting question might be who they got for a rabbi.

Doesn't "Farah" sound a bit Middle-Yeasty for an American name?

I suggest he be investigated immediately for possible viscous tendencies!

Well, did you ever consider that one of the words for "mate" later evolved to become the word for "wife"?

The Bible is anything but linear.

Jefferson also wrote a law calling for the castration of sodomites, as "gays" were known in the 18th century. I wonder why Beck didn't cite that quote?

Probably because he likes sodomizing his wife, and doesn't want his balls chopped off.

How long before somebody accuses Beck of sweaty, meaty mansecks at WND, Malkin or Hotair??

Shiplord put up a Pages entry about the Koran burning being against city ordinances... so I checked out the hate-o-sphere and sure enough there's lots of hatin' going on. By tomorrow morning I suppose Farah and friends will spin this into how Muslim Obama is now starting to close down Christian churches.

23 freetoken  Thu, Aug 19, 2010 12:47:38am

And speaking of Farah and Coulter, the former is still on the attack of the latter after Coulter fired back at Farah for dumping him:

[Link: www.wnd.com...]

[Coulter] continued: "I will say that [Farah] could give less than two sh--s about the conservative movement – as demonstrated by his promotion of the birther nonsense (long ago disproved by my newspaper, human events, also sweetness & light, american spectator and national review etc, etc etc). He's the only allegedly serious conservative pushing the birther thing. for ONE reason: to get hits on his website."

Oh, my... and what does Farah think of this:

Farah responded to Coulter's remarks, saying, "Ann is angry. I hope she calms down and there can be some restoration, repentance and forgiveness. She said some mean things about me, but I can sleep at night knowing I did the right thing in God's economy."

Bwahahaha.... Farah wants Coulter to repent.

Hehehehehehehehe....

I don't think it is "just". Frankly, as a right-wing meme the market is covered by WND and there isn't much profit in other people to promote the idea as it only promotes WND's bottom line.

Too few comments to go OT, but this is the crowd I told about putting in an offer. It seems the owners need to net too much on the retro house, with the ugly bathrooms, and I think it would cost too much to update them to something that would both match the house and be pleasing to use.

Back to searching. I also plugged in my BILs price point (even went high) and found some amazing places in areas I didn't know existed in the middle of the city. For 850 K, you can get a 1920s mansion smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood where the next highest house is about 250K. It looks like it was the house built for the person who had the land last before subdivision. Man i wish my bonus was a lot bigger. I would hate to think what that house in the Bay area would cost. I may have to go for this.

Over the years I have checked in on WND for an article or two but I never noticed this sort of Puritanism. Has it changed or was I not looking deeply enough? Now they think Coulter and Beck are libertines?

34 boredtechindenver  Thu, Aug 19, 2010 1:24:07am

Yes, it is my first purchase. I am almost 46, and could have bought the townhouse i am living in, and almost did. My landlord will sell it for $175K right now, where he wanted +$200k as little as 3 years ago, however it is too far from my mothers house.

I have been handling the lawn since before my dad got sick, and since he passed last year, I have been more worried about things like shoveling snow, etc. I am looking at an area where i am less then 2 or 3 miles from my mothers house as opposed to being 17 miles away now.

I know buying the retro house would have worked out in the long term, however, I grew up in a bathroom much like the Ugly bathroom, and I prefer doing my business in a more subdued location.

Yes you did. And that was a big factor in my bid, and why i didn't bid higher when i knew their floor. I could live there, but my eyes would jump out of my head every time I had to, you know. And I you know a lot. And if I take a book in there, I spend a bit of time. I would be living in the bathrooms, and I don't like pink or purple glazed tile.

Concerned about my 65 year old mother shoveling snow from a 2 car drive. She is in better health than I am, overall, but my heart is still younger. The last two winters, I got off work at either 6 or 7 am and could stop and shovel on the way home. Now I am on days, and it is more important for me to be able to be close to her house to shovel in the winter, and mow in the summer.

Ok... I see, I thought you meant shoveling your own property. Got it. Well, speaking of work, time to go. It's a pleasant 58 degrees up here in Conifer. Damn general merchandise department. They got me helping out again for a odd 8 hour shift from 4:00am-12:30pm. I'm a cashier right now, I prefer working with the customers, not working with 45 varieties of deodorant. Oh well. You are not on the way home from work, Walter. Though you are on the way to her house near Jefferson. No shoveling needed there though. no sidewalks or cement driveways. Just a view that reminds her of Lamy, NM.

Last Palestinian linked to 1972 Munich massacre dies

[Link: www.bbc.co.uk...]

"A funeral has been held for a Palestinian said to have been involved in the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre in which 11 Israeli athletes died.

The ceremony for Amin al-Hindi was held in Ramallah, with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and senior Palestinian leaders present. He was buried in Gaza.

Mr Hindi, who died aged 70 in Jordan on Tuesday, led the General Intelligence Service under the late Yasser Arafat.

In the 1970s, he was a security officer in the PLO's ruling Fatah movement.

He is alleged to have then also been a member of Black September, a militant offshoot of Fatah behind the Munich attacks.

Two Israelis were killed by the group at the athletes' village, and nine more died in a botched rescue attempt by the German police. A German policeman and five Palestinian gunmen were also killed."

Canada marijuana growers use wild bears to guard pot

Police said Wednesday they were astonished to find at least 14 wild black bears guarding an illegal marijuana growing operation after a recent raid on the property in westernmost Canada.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sergeant Fred Mansveld said police believe two growers arrested in the raid had used dog food to lure the animals onto the remote property in southeastern British Columbia, to deter marijuana thieves.

It most likely makes her a very stringent follower of whatever version of Christianity she follows; a version that's very intolerant of other religions.

If we're going to call that bigoted, then all non-ecumenical religions are bigoted.

And I'm bigoted against all religions.

"I can say what I want, and you have to listen, and then like me still, no matter what and also you have to continue to buy my goods, and also I am free to say anything, and such as the maps."

It could be worse, reine. When I moved to college, they had a sort of welcome weekend thing for the parents. I told my mom and dad that they didn't have to stick around if they didn't want to, as I was settling in just fine and I knew they had things to do.

Mom didn't talk to me for about a month after I did that.

On a lighter note:

All summer, my daughter has been anxiously awaiting the time she could move into her dorm. She told me several times how much she was looking forward to leaving.

Today's the day.

Her roommate is already in the dorm, because she's on the dance team and they started practice last week. So last night we thought we'd get a head start, and brought a load over there so we could empty the trunk and refill it for today.

And on the way over there, what do I hear?

"You know Mom, I sorta wish I had just decided to live at home."

ARGH!

Awww. What a sweetie!

What these wingnuts fail to understand is that, as far as the Law is concerned, it makes no difference whatsoever what The Bible says. And they can’t seem to get that out of their heads. Legally speaking, The Bible is meaningless! And just because "the family is the building block of a society" (and that's subject to argument, but forget that for now), no one is outlawing the family! And while smarter men may "have explained how you simply can’t have freedom and self-governance without it" (the logic escapes me), he is not, apparently, one of these "smarter men", since he is unable to explain it. Which makes me think that maybe the explanation is weak and unconvincing. Is he trying to argue that because I have no children (and, therefore, not a "family" in the "traditional" sense), that I can’t be free? And WTF does "self-governance" have to do with families? IMHO, this is all coming from a fear that someone will force this guy to marry a gay man and get his ass fucked every day. Even worse, I think his real fear is that he won't hate it.

I admire Thomas Jefferson as much as the next guy, but this quotation Beck cites is hardly indicative of his entire worldview. It's completely out of context. Jefferson had a libertarian streak, but he was no materialist. Jefferson also wrote a law calling for the castration of sodomites, as "gays" were known in the 18th century. I wonder why Beck didn't cite that quote?

I, for one, have a great deal of trouble believing Jefferson did such a thing. Is Mr. Farah talking out of his ass on this? Any one here know?

If we're going to call that bigoted, then all non-ecumenical religions are bigoted.

And I'm bigoted against all religions.

Doesn't seem that useful a definition.

I've intentionally kept my religious views to myself not out of fear but because I know it could come across as offensive in typed text. For the week ended Aug. 14, initial claims rose 12,000 to 500,000. This is the highest level since the week ended Nov. 14, 2009.

I never really understood picking fights on forums for the sake of picking a fight.

Similar to how I don't appreciate the role of the "goon" in ice hockey. Supposedly there to "protect" the team's stars, but it seems that it's mutated into a side-show where the two (or more) goons have their subsidiary game going that culminates in them fighting and both getting tossed. I think I'd prefer having that roster spot for an additional skill player.

Fan reaction to Nugent troubling

It was bad enough that rock musician Ted Nugent made racially insensitive remarks on stage last week in Dubuque. What made it worse was that audience members cheered.

Anybody who thinks racism is in Dubuque's past had better think again.

Nugent commented approvingly that he saw so many white people in the audience. He commended Dubuque for being a "white town." The crowd -- not just a few fans here and there -- cheered. (That is not to say that everyone in the audience was a Dubuque resident and that everyone cheered. But no expression of disapproval was heard, either; hopefully, some were too shocked to respond.)

People in wheelchairs, during rehab, are taught how to get themselves back to the chair, get the chair back up, and get themselves back into it. It's part of the training -
I worked with a guy who told me that he and his rehab counselor went to the park one day, and the counselor suddenly grabbed his chair and tipped him over and out. He said people at the park were aghast at the cruelty! But it was part of the training . . .

We've got us some genuine diversity here in Georgia. The White Supremecists and Black Supremecists have found a common cause. Theft and Terrorism.

"The FBI says the national movement [sovereign citizens] has been around for decades and has ties to the Nuwaubians, a black supremacist group that started near Augusta. Nationally, sovereign citizens, which originated as a white supremacist group, have been connected to multiple insurance fraud and tax evasion scams, along with some violent crimes."

This is a gem too:

re: #301 Killgore Trout

And they're referencing this story:

[Link: www.thonline.com...]

Mississippi Moon Bar Entertainment Manager Scott Thomas said before any musician takes the stage at the Moon Bar, a contract is signed that covers the rules of the establishment -- censorship not being one of them.
"What they do is what they do," Thomas said. "They'll ask what kind of crowd it is, and they'll play for that kind of crowd. We don't censor anybody. The majority of the people know what they're coming to see."

I think-- assuming the reporter isn't going crazy and simply making stuff up, which seems unlikely-- that Nugent's 'defense' is going to be "Well, rap artists talk about being happy to see all the brothers and sisters in the crowd so what I'm doing isn't bad either".

308 Killgore Trout  Thu, Aug 19, 2010 7:53:34am

There's more: Moon Bar: We don't censor

Within a few minutes of starting, Nugent commented on the race of his audience and the city of Dubuque.

"There's a lot of white people in this crowd -- I like that! (Dubuque) is a white town."

Nugent also pointed out at least one audience member and questioned his race.

Back in the day when Genesis was fronted by Peter Gabriel, I think Phil did some amazing stuff. A lot of old Genesis was written in odd time signatures, and if you're not used to things like 7/4 time, or jumping from 3/8 to 5/4 and back, holding a beat isn't easy.

In terms of success across the boards, that's not a bad observation. I like Grohl a ton -- as a drummer, I still believe him to be the closest I've ever seen to reincarnating Keith Moon. (A writer once said, in a review of a Nirvana show, that he "beat the drums like they owed him money".)

There's actually more than you mention -- there's also Probot; his work with Queens of the Stone Age; and now Them Crooked Vultures.

He and Josh Homme are stretching their influence quietly and broadly. (IMO, working with Mark Lanegan is a major recommendation to begin with....) I like it.

I love flame throwers. I think they're funny. I've updinged comments people here have made that I completely disagree with but still thought it was funny as hell. She's the rights version of Bill Maher who I still watch.

Coulter's pretty good at it, too. She knows how to market herself. She could write a book eviscerating the right and it would sell just as well as her current crap does.

Not, apparently, that he was stopped from learning a most bad habit of being annoying and rude.

It doesn't make it less serious. However digging into a three year old comment to pick a fight (or prove a point) makes me question your real reason for being on LGF.

I'd say there is a pretty good consensus here that hating Muslims is not a good response to Wahabbism and Mandy is not representative of the whole of LGF. A single three year old comment is not an endorsement despite our declarations.

In fact Mandy has often posted some pretty consciencious and thoughtful comments about the positive things she has taught her son.

Again context and motive count.

Should we really be in the business of repudiating each questionable thing ever posted because some newbie (or probably sock puppet) is demanding we address it?

(Hint: no)

""[T]his was an email exchange [between] friends and even though I didn't expressly say 'OFF THE RECORD' and I believe everything I said, he's a swine for using my private emails politely answering him," Coulter wrote to the Daily Caller. "[W]hy would he do such a despicable thing? ... for PUBLICITY."

I find it amusing, since the Daily Caller has done the exact same thing before with the whole stupid "journolist" dealio.

It must be something in the water or the position of the moon last night - a banned user just re-registered, using the same name, to get one last shot at Charles in an older Sarah Palin thread (I know because I had subscribed to it several days ago, and got the email just now)

Judging by his/her extensive knowledge of Mandy's comments, Adam must have been a registered user here (perhaps still is?). Don't you love people who lack the courage to make accusations with their regular, huh, internet nicknames?

Now that you have introduced yourself and decided to call us out on our hypocrice...

Let us get to know you.

What other names have you posted under?

What are your views on Islam in America?

How should we address a diversity of opinions on a blog (even those that go far astray from the zeitgeist of the blog?)

Why did you register and what do you hope to get out of this dialogue?

Influential Donor May Bolt From GOP Over Anti-Muslim Hysteria

"I don't know if I'll be a Republican a year from now," says Seeme Hasan, who chairs the Hasan Family Foundation in Colorado, and has close ties to the Republican party leadership. Hasan's frustration with the GOP was evident, and not just over their public opposition to the construction of a Muslim cultural center in lower Manhattan. "Every time a Muslim person becomes famous, they are viciously attacked," Hasan said.

"The past few years in the Republican party has been constant humiliation for Muslims," Hasan told TPM in an interview yesterday evening.

Quick post here. Charles may have already seen this post by Jeffrey Goldberg, want to make sure - and you folks too.

(don't play with trolls, remember?)

Goldberg knows Imam Rauf and is appalled at the attacks. Here's from his post:

In 2003, Imam Rauf was invited to speak at a memorial service for Daniel Pearl, the journalist murdered by Islamist terrorists in Pakistan. The service was held at B'nai Jeshurun, a prominent synagogue in Manhattan, and in the audience was Judea Pearl, Daniel Pearl's father. In his remarks, Rauf identified absolutely with Pearl, and identified himself absolutely with the ethical tradition of Judaism. "I am a Jew," he said.

Then he goes home, turns on the TV and it starts all over again. Vicious cycle with him, I'm quite sure.

I guess most of you think I’m just bragging. I don’t know how to tell you you’re wrong, but you are. It’s just impossible for you to scare me. And I think everyone should have that experience at least once in their lives.

519 That's Glenn Beck to you  Thu, Aug 19, 2010 9:27:49am

I have to say that I am a bit confused.

Let me get my chalkboard and we can think this out together.

You see, I have always been confused by the name "Farah".

It all started when I was a kid and was traumatized by a pack of frogs. After that incident, Jimmy Culbertson got on our Schwinns and rode back to his tree fort. When we got up in the fort, Jimmy pulled out two things I had never tried before. One was a bottle of Robitussin cough syrup. The other was a Farrah Fawcett Majors poster.

I remember the complete feeling of relaxation that overcame me as I downed that first bottle of Robi and looked at a "perky" Farrah in that swimsuit. I thought "Someday, I will mary a girl with feathered hair named Farrah".

Then Jimmy confused things.

"My dad says that Lee Majors is gay."

Surely Jimmy had sipped too much Robi, although I don't remember sharing the bottle.

"The Six Million Dollar Man?" I responded "He can't be gay. Farrah wouldn't marry a gay guy."

"Uhuuuh." Said Jimmy "Turns out people in Hollywood sometimes get married to further their careers. So a gay guy who doesn't want people to know he is gay will find a hot babe like Farrah to marry. And she would say yes because he was more famous than she was so it helps her career."

My mouth was getting dry and my head was starting to hurt. It was too confusing. Was Farrah gay too? Did they have kids? Did their marriage really count? It was too much.

"Hey Jimmy"

"Yeah?"

"Got any more Robitussin? And maybe a Kate Jackson poster instead?"

So that is why people with the name "Farah" talking about marriage confuses me.

Nuh-uh. We regularly round up more and more offensive comments. The whole world does not revolve around the 24-hour news cycle, kids.

I, for one, have a great deal of trouble believing Jefferson did such a thing. Is Mr. Farah talking out of his ass on this? Any one here know?

This is what I find on Wiki. Wiki is the fourth or fifth site that comes up on my Google search, the first one starts by talking about how 'libtards' love Jefferson.

“Whosoever shall be guilty of rape, polygamy, or sodomy with a man or woman, shall be punished; if a man, by castration, a woman, by boring through the cartilage of her nose a hole of one half inch in diameter at the least.” (Virginia Bill number 64; authored by Jefferson; June 18, 1779).

On an unrelated topic:

A study shows that palliative care actually extends life spans (while increasing quality of life) in the terminally ill.

It was this sort of care that the HCR provision was trying to encourage a doctor-patient conversation about, and that got stripped out due to the "death panel" nonsense.

And the term "sodomy" is/was VERY broadly defined, to include acts that many loving and consensual adults use during foreplay.

Things have certainly changed a bit since '79.

544 That's Glenn Beck to you  Thu, Aug 19, 2010 9:50:07am

[Out of character - a couple weeks back, Beck was on the culture war hour O'Rielly Factor and had this to say about the prop 8 ruling -

O'Reilly: Do you believe that gay marriage is a threat to country in any way?

Beck: A threat to the country?

O'Reilly: Yeah, is it going to harm it in anyway?

Beck: No I don't. Will the gays come and get us?

O'Reilly: No, okay. Is it going to harm the country?

Beck: I believe that Thomas Jefferson said: "If it neither breaks my leg nor picks my pocket what difference is it to me?

Beck makes my skin crawl but I have to give him credit when doing something right. A liberterian / conservative should not give a wit about gay marriage except to see it as a basic freedom with no state interest at stake. Social Conservatives are driving the bus, however, so they get to set all the rules about who is in and who is out. So Coulter and Beck are perhaps going to be out because they don't mind dudes touching each other (or perhaps they mind but don't see the use of the state minding). Interesting that such is the basis for being out while being a stoner isn't as is the case with Palin. It would be entertaining if these cretins didn't have the political power that they do.]

I once wrote a skit for a D&D session based on The Holy Grail

Went like this

saws, saws, platemail and saws etc...

Lumberjacks sitting around the blacksmiths shop start singing saws, saws, saws, saws

One of them comes up to the player characters and starts talking about wanting to be a Palidin! Leaping from Foe to Foe! With my best +5 Holy Sword by My Side, I'd Sing, Sing, Sing...

In fact, the last post from August 11 was actually, dare I say... nice to LGF.
