Bogus Story Alert

Media • Views: 3,703

Alert: someone is circulating a bogus story that pastor Terry Jones of “Burn a Koran Day” was recently arrested for possession of child pornography. It’s not true.

The email I received had a link to a user-submitted page at nbc.com, which links to another user-submitted page at another site, where you can eventually find a link back to a completely unrelated article about someone else being arrested.

I’m no fan of Preacher Jones, but this story is completely false. Please don’t help circulate it.

hey, sorry to dip into the ‘naughty atheist’ pool and then cut…my laptop froze solid and i didn’t get it working before i had to make a school supplies shopping trip. i checked back to the thread very quickly and it went where i would have taken it anyway, so it wasn’t a total loss…but that’s why i suddenly disappeared after raising a bit of a sticky point. sorry.

I occasionally wonder what would happen if we married their classic sense of irreverence with the current edge of raw TV comedy…by which i mean odd cartoons (e.g. Dan Halen et al).

Why can’t people understand there are good enough reasons to be against someone without resorting to false accusations and libel?

heh, we didn’t have the money growing up to buy anything cool. and now the list is so strict that there is absolutely. no. deviance. from. the. list.

they even tell you which color notebooks to buy. *shrug* fine with me…it does make for less negotiating at the store with the kids…

I noticed that too, the rigid list, down to color-coded notebooks and folders.
I thought it was just my kid’s Catholic school that was that rigid. How in the world did we manage to get our work organized, without the schools telling us which color notebooks to use for which subject?

We get a supply list, but not as nitpicky as what color to buy. PRior to 4th grade, my eldest was in a Waldrof School, they don’ use text books, the make their own based on the lesson plan. Her first year in Catholic School (5th), I covered all her books with paper sacks. Apparently no one does that anymore. She was a bit worried the first week of school, but I showed her how you could color the paper, make it her own thing and the stretchy cloth the other kids had, not so much. She was pretty stoked after that.

The whole book-covering thing always mystified me.

Apparently, it’s perfectly fine to break the book along the spine, as long as the cover remains pristine!
