Fox is, without a doubt, f***ing stupid.

Much as I love Daily Show I need to thread jack right out of the gate.

I JUST GOT HIRED!

I'm gonna be making 100 $ an hour in stock options so if the company doesn't go belly up (and its being run by a guy who has overseen like three to five other companies so I doubt that'll happen) come next August I'll have my payments vested to the cool tune of 4K a week!

To paraphrase Sartre - l'enfer, c'est Fox News.

Hell even if I get screwed and the company does go belly up it'll resolve the dreaded '"We'd think about hiring you but you need more experience.' 'Well how do I get experience' 'Get hired.'" paradox.

Not to mention I'm going to get on the job training for website coding which is going to give my future resume a real shot in the arm....

I don't understand why "real" news outlets aren't all over this. Add this, to the fact that News Corp just donated a cool million to the republican party; It is an assault on the free press in this country.

It is evil and stupid, and more than a little frightening.

i love that TDS pointed out that Fox News never mentioned the prince's name or showed his picture.

So this means that the GOP is receiving funds from an organization that also distributes funds to Park51 and various terrorist agencies... OMG!!!1!

Where is the outrage? Can you imagine what Fox would do with this story if it were MSNBC instead, that donated a million to the democrats and they had an Arabian Prince as a major stockholder? All hell would break loose.

15 Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All  Tue, Aug 24, 2010 10:15:35am

Is it possible that Fox News is the real Manchurian Candidate?

Has this all been a ploy by foreign forces to destroy America by agitating the worst of America to tear itself apart?

I mostly jest, but there's a little piece of me that's starting to wonder....

16 Radical Rafe  Tue, Aug 24, 2010 10:15:57am

If it is than someone put a lot of effort into getting some free coding out of a recent college graduate. Especially considering that most of the stuff they want me to do is stuff I'm going to pick up through on the job training.

I don't see how I can come out worse for wear on this one unless they beat me over the head, stuff me in a sack and steal my organs.

Do you have a two hour long presentation on what exactly your start up company does and do you have a proven track record as a CEO?

Fox has more practice at outrage, more shiny things, more moving lights and type, more incidental music. Perfect for the 20-second viewer.

Loved Wyatt and John's T-shirts. Man I don't know how to feel honestly. Part of me thinks yeah they really are this dumb but another part of me knows that they work for a news company and have to know. It's just ridiculous and the usual fearbaiting by Fox.

I hope things work out for you. How are those other companies he was running doing?

And $100/hr in stock options sounds odd. In a year, you'd have personally earned the entire market cap of the average startup. Assuming the company isn't publicly traded, one can hypothetically claim that a stock certificate is worth any dollar amount they want to assign to it.

Well for starters the company itself is already making money... which will make sense if you follow me closely.

The "company" as it currently exists is a high class nightclub/bar, that's having a bunch of computer programmers brought in to work on designing some code that will help the bar operate more effectively and have further reaching applications in various other markets.

Thanks, like I said even if things go belly up the fact that I'm going to get some solid corporate experience and learn how to do some web based programming means that I come out ahead any which way so long as this isn't some elaborate plot to steal my organs.

This is a wonderful bit of putting all the pieces together.

My only question is: why is there not some big name Dem going to town on this and saying it in a way that can not be ignored? As it is now, this will fade from the news cycle almost instantly and Fox will pretend this is not so.

There is already enough unreasoned fear and hatred stirred up that the bigot brigade has its own momentum. However, if this were a talking point said in a way that could not be ignored, there would be a feeding frenzy that would remind people of dozens of other egregious Fox lies - long enough before the election to cast doubt on the entire propaganda wing of the right.

38 elbruce  Tue, Aug 24, 2010 10:36:50am

I'm kind of amazed that FOX News talked about this to begin with, since it seems that bin Talal has in the past actually had Murdoch alter FOX' editorial content:

[Link: rawstory.com...]

Since then, al-Waleed has formed multiple connections with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., the owner of Fox News. In September 2005, he acquired 5.46% of voting shares in News Corp., and just a few months later, when Fox ran coverage of riots in Paris under the banner "Muslim riots," he allegedly phoned Murdoch and had him change the heading to "civil riots."

They're basically smearing their own boss here.

If bil Talal truly in his heart supports wahabbism, it may be that he *wants* for the US to be openly bigoted in ways that help Al Qaeda construct their next recruitment video. Using Fox to whip up anti-Muslim frenzy may very well suit his purposes.

I'm willing to take him at his word that it's about keeping America dependent on oil, which is another thing that FOX pushes constantly. The fact that bin Talal is incredibly wealthy probably affects his politics and investment choices more than his religion. That seems to be the case with most folks.
