David Horowitz Begs for Money for Robert Spencer

Wingnuts • Views: 5,738

Here’s the mass email sent out today by David Horowitz, begging the right wing base for more money for Robert Spencer’s anti-Muslim effort:

Dear DHFC Supporter,

I am sure you’ve heard about the mosque they want to build on the sacred soil of Ground Zero in New York City.

A group of “moderate” Muslim investors and clerics want to open a 13-story Islamic cultural center and mosque called the “Cordoba Center” (Remember: Cordoba, Spain, was once the capital of the Muslim penetration of the West) just a few hundred yards away from Ground Zero - the the site of the murderous attack on America by radical Islamofascists.

The Freedom Center is in the middle of the fight to stop this insult to the memory of the people who died on 9/11. Our own Robert Spencer - the author of Islam Unveiled and other important works exposing radical Islam, director of Jihad Watch, and widely respected conservative leader - is spearheading the effort to stop the desecration of the area where 2,742 innocent people were slaughtered by agents of Osama bin Laden and his rabid al Qaeda followers. Robert is helping to organize a major demonstration against the Ground Zero Mosque on September 11th where tens of thousands of New Yorkers will listen as Ambassador John Bolton, Dutch opponent of Islamism Geert Wilders, and others voice their opposition to the mosque.

Apologists for the Islamists and their stealth jihad in America have Robert in their gun sights. That’s why it is critically important that Robert receive the financial support needed to stand toe-to-toe with the extremely well-financed agents of radical Islam. His ability to continue his work as a tireless researcher and fearless opponent of Islamofascism is on the line in this battle against the Ground Zero mosque, and every dollar counts.

That’s why I’m asking you to follow this link and make a tax-deductible contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or more today. I will send you a copy of Robert’s upcoming pamphlet on The Cordoba Mosque: The meaning of the Ground Zero Outrage with your gift of $35 or more. With a gift of $100 or more, I will send you a personalized copy of Robert’s best-selling book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam.

You and I understand this isn’t about religious freedom. It is about what is decent and appropriate. We are not forbidding Muslim citizens from worshipping or building a mosque at another location, but we must ensure that this insult to the memory of innocent Americans butchered nine years ago by Islamic radicalism never comes to pass.

When Robert is attacked for “Islamophobia” and his voice mail is filled with dark threats, we know our efforts are paying off. But there are real costs involved in Robert’s work, and the Freedom Center needs to raise an additional $125,000 in the next three months to ensure that Robert can continue this battle. Can we count on you to help?

Every dollar you can spare to support Robert Spencer in these hard times will pay off by amplifying his passionate, reasoned voice against building this particular mosque on this particular site and by allowing him to bring this battle to a head. So please follow this link to make the most generous contribution you can afford.

Thank you for all of your support.

Sincerely,

David Horowitz
President & Founder

P.S. Please do what you can today to support Robert Spencer in these hard times. Every dollar will pay off by amplifying his passionate, reasoned voice against building this particular mosque on this particular site and by allowing him to bring this battle to a head. Please follow this link to make your tax-deductible contribution today. Don’t for get that I will send you a copy of Robert’s upcoming pamphlet on The Cordoba Mosque: The meaning of the Ground Zero Outrage with your gift of $35 or more. With a gift of $100 or more, I will send you a personalized copy of Robert’s best-selling book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam. Thank you again!

Come on, guys. Think of it as stimulus spending. Granted, all it'll stimulate is more bigoted lunacy, but it's better than spending that money on something like electric car batteries or windmill construction...right?

For some reason this reminds me. Some years ago, I moved out of a house I was renting, and when we decided to move, I called the landlord to let him know we would be vacating.

His wife answered the phone. I asked for him, and she said he was unavailable and asked who I was with such icy hostility that I thought she thought I was his girlfriend. I explained, and she exclaimed warmly "Oh, you're a TENANT!! I thought you were one of his Republican fundraisers! They keep calling, and calling, and reminding him to vote tomorrow!! I'm never giving money to the RNC again! They just STALK you!!"

A. James Rudin reminds us about some history we should think about...

Stormy seas for our ship of state

When a ship tosses about during a gale, passengers rely on the captain to navigate safely through the dangerous water.

America is currently in an economic, political and cultural storm. While the 310 million people aboard our national ship of state expect our leaders to plot a successful course, we are also responsible for the wellbeing of those around us, especially those vulnerable passengers who are "different."

It is neither a new image, nor a new problem. In the 17th century, Baptist minister Roger Williams, a strong champion of religious liberty and the founder of Rhode Island, wrote:

"It hath fallen out sometimes, that both papists and Protestants, Jews and Turks, may be embarked on one ship; upon which supposal I affirm, that all the liberty of conscience, that ever I pleaded for, turns upon these two hinges --- that none of the papists, Protestants, Jews, or Turks, be forced to come to the ship's prayers of worship, nor compelled from their own particular prayers or worship, if they practice any."

As a nation, we have frequently failed to follow Williams' teachings by engaging in religious, racial, and ethnic bigotry. And we're still doing it --- publicly attacking immigrants, African-Americans, Hispanics, Muslims, gays, and Asians among others.

It's as ugly now as it was then.

[snip]

Read the whole thing.

With a gift of $100 or more, I will send you a personalized copy of Robert’s best-selling book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam.

Proudly known, in the "right" circles, as the P.I.G.

And the full title is "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)."

The Crusades, you see, are completely misunderstood. They were noble attempts to stem the tide of Mahomet's followers. Of course, a few nasty things happened along the way, notably some unfortunate harassment (read: pogroms and massacres) directed towards European Jews, but that was just an excess of boyish, chivalrous, knightly European over-enthusiasm (never mind that some of the funding for the Crusades came from the looting and pillage of Jewish enclaves).

I do wonder, though, how Robert Spencer wishes away or condones or explains the part where the Western European crusaders raped and pillaged his beloved Byzantium, whose sacred ground they had been called to defend. Against the Moooslims.

Note to Horowitz: Spencer is no friend to Jews. But you know that already, you're just once again going where the power is.

Fuck you both.

The first hunger strike has begun...

Rancor Over Mosque Prompts One Man's Quiet Hunger Strike

Holding up a white placard with a handwritten slogan, Timothy Leonard of Brooklyn stood quietly by himself outside the old Burlington Coat Factory building on Park Place in Lower Manhattan on Friday.

As pedestrians walked by the two joined buildings that have become a flashpoint of an angry debate across the nation, Leonard patiently and quietly held his sign for the benefit of whomever bothered to read it. He didn't chant, he didn't shout. He just stood and offered an occasional nod, fist bump, or greeting to a passerby.

Wearing a black hooded sweatshirt over a red T-shirt, multicolored shorts, and high-tops, Leonard communicated a simple message on his sign: "Hunger Strike for Cultural Tolerance and Mind Elevation."

"I'm willing to give up food and I'm willing to go through starvation but I'm not willing to give up civil liberties and also rights," Leonard told Fox 5 News. "I don't feel anybody else should, and I stand for that."

Leonard said he will refrain from eating food, sustaining himself on water and occasionally orange juice, in order to make his point, quietly and in stark contrast to the noise and rancor of recent weeks.

Good for him. This is the first person I've seen supporting his personal stand on the issue and acting like an adult about it.

What bugs me is they always bring up the families of the 9-11 victims like there's some unaminous opinion of the families against Park 51. I've seen stories of family members interviewed that support it. And honestly right wing pundits haven't exactly been charitible to 9-11 family members who disagree with them. Remember Coulter and the Jersey Girls and her nasty comment about how their husbands hated them or O'Reilly's hostilty to the son of one victim whose sin was disagreeing with Bill on the Iraq war. I understand emotions may run high but this is the same country that allowed a bunch of Neo-Nazi assholes to march through a town with a large amount of Holocaust survivors and it is a textbook literally speaking story of the importance of the 1st amendment.

A real man is a woman’s best friend. He will never stand her up and never let her down.

He will reassure her when she feels insecure and comfort her after a bad day.

He will inspire her to do things she never thought she could do; to live without fear and forget regret.

He will enable her to express her deepest emotions and give in to her most intimate desires.

He will make sure she always feels as though she’s the most beautiful woman in the room and will enable her to be the most confident, sexy, seductive, and invincible.

No wait… sorry… I’m thinking of beer.

Never mind.

NY gov slammed for 'westernized' Muslims comment

Muslim leaders in the United States are criticizing Gov. David Paterson for his description of the developers of an Islamic center and mosque planned near ground zero as peaceful, "almost westernized" Muslims.

The Muslim Public Affairs Council said Paterson mischaracterized the sect known as Sufi and his comment suggests other Muslims are a problem, although he made no criticism of Islam or any branches of it.

...Paterson, who has offered the developers state resources if they decide they'd prefer another site farther from ground zero, said in radio and television interviews Thursday that he had researched Sufi Muslims and they are "not like the Shiites," the second-largest branch of Muslims and the majority in Iraq.

"They're almost like a hybrid, almost westernized," he said. "They are not really what I would classify in the sort of mainland Muslim practice."

Paterson's use of "mainland" apparently was intended to be "mainstream."

Paterson didn't immediately respond to a Friday request for comment on criticism of his remarks.

Damn bigoted wingnuts!

I ran all the way from Ninety-third Street, where I lived then, to Thirty-third Street, and ran up five flights of stairs and knocked on the door, and a man came to the door wearing a woman's outfit. Not entirely, just lipstick. And I realized that that was the profession, that I wanted into.

Mr. Paterson’s Disappointing Tenure

Handed an opportunity to guide New York State through terrible economic times — and restore the luster of the office after Eliot Spitzer’s disgrace — Gov. David Paterson frittered away his chances. When it comes to key decisions, he has been distracted and irresolute. And he has displayed poor judgment about fundamental issues of ethics.

This week Judith Kaye, the independent counsel and former chief judge of the State Court of Appeals, said that Mr. Paterson was “inaccurate and misleading” when he told ethics investigators in February that he always intended to pay for four World Series tickets at Yankee Stadium.

It was only a month ago that Ms. Kaye issued another report charging that Mr. Paterson had misled investigators — as well as his own press staff — about his role in a case involving charges of assault by one of his closest aides, David Johnson.

In that case, she decided against pursuing charges against the governor. For this one she has passed the evidence over to District Attorney David Soares in Albany for possible criminal charges.

Heh getting money from Mumia. My big problem with the anti war rallies is that they would bash Israel but you never heard one word about Darfur. Other thing that bothered me was reading about ANSWER's political party all the Workers World Party I believe who supported the Soviets invading Hungary in '56 and the later Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. 144 Cato the Elder  Fri, Aug 27, 2010 8:28:19pm

re: #49 Cato the Elder

Note that there are numerous other P.I.G.s ("politically incorrect guides") that will tell benighted, liberalism-befuddled people what to think about:

--American History
--The Vietnam War
--The Civil War
--Western Civilization
--The Consti-fucking-tution
--The Founding Fathers [no mothers allowed]
--The Bible
--The Sixties [when Everything Started to Go Wrong]
--The Great Depression [not, apparently, the one brought on by reading P.I.G.s]
--The Politically Incorrect Guide to Darwinism and Intelligent Design
--The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism)
--The Politically Incorrect Guide to Women, Sex and Feminism

&c., &c., ad nauseam, with this one topping my list of favorites:

--The Politically Incorrect Guide to the South (and Why It Will Rise Again) [now there's something to look forward to!]

All of them proudly have the P.I.G. logo on the cover, showing, guess what? - a pig.

Anyone need any explication of where these people come from and where they want to take this country? Well, this is telling: the man depicted on the cover of the "American History" P.I.G. is Stonewall Jackson. Yep, the very avatar of everything America stands for!

Are you confused about sex, women, money (there's a P.I.G. about captitalism), money, women, sex, and the Bible and the Koran and God and This Great Nation of Ours?

Buy a P.I.G.!

Immediate stone-cold racist fucktardism guaranteed, but no money back.

Lebanon's Hizballah Museum: A Theme Park for Martyrdom

The rocky red hills and dense oak forests of southern Lebanon near the Israeli border make perfect terrain for guerrilla warfare, as the Israeli army has repeatedly discovered to its chagrin. Whether or not the once and future war zone is an ideal location for a multi-million dollar tourist attraction is another matter. But that hasn't stopped Hizballah, the anti-Israeli militant group and Shi'ite Muslim political party, from opening a war memorial this summer here in the southern hill town of Mleeta. With a reported cost of about $20 million and a cryptic slogan ("Earth Speaks to Heaven"), Mleeta is the first stage of what Hizballah hopes will be a kind of family theme park of the Islamic Resistance that will eventually include spa hotels, a paint-ball gun battlefield, and a cable-car ride with a scenic view of northern Israel, or as the tour guides call it, "Occupied Palestine."

Mleeta is a full-frontal display of the Party of God's legendary attention to detail, its willingness to sacrifice, and its glorification of combat. Visitors walk down "The Path" — a winding trail interspersed with mannequin-filled dioramas of combat scenes, including a field hospital and a camouflaged rocket launch site meant to convey the experience of being a mujaheddin. They duck their heads and enter "The Cave" — a once-secret bunker used as barracks for as many as 7,000 militants that engineers carved out of the hillside over a period of several years, scattering its debris for miles to avoid drawing the attention of Israeli reconnaissance planes. And they can gawk at "The Abyss," a pit filled with captured Israeli machine guns, rockets and tanks. "These arms were used to destroy your homes, look at them now under your feet," said a tour guide recently to a busload of men in Hizballah canary yellow baseball caps and women in black chadors visiting from the Martyr's Association, a charity for the families of militants killed in action. "Every helmet you are seeing is from a dead Israeli soldier," he said.

I wonder if they will borrow Farfur from Hamas for the kids to enjoy?

Note that there are numerous other P.I.G.s ("politically incorrect guides") that will tell benighted, liberalism-befuddled people what to think about:

&c., &c., ad nauseam, with this one topping my list of favorites:

I've seen those books around. They look like nonsense to me and more Confederacy apologies. Shit, I'm a southerner, Virginia born and raised but I'm really peeved by neo-confederatism and attempts to revise the antebellum South to this wonderful place. Of all major religions in America, Muslims really like Obama the most

As a group, Americans of the Muslim faith give Barack Obama the highest job approval rating of any major religion.

A new Gallup Poll of 275,000 adults this morning finds that while the Democrat's overall approval ratings have dropped across all faiths -- even those Americans without any -- Muslims continue to approve of him the most. And you'll never guess which faith based in Utah thinks the least of the 44th president's job.

Seventy-eight percent of Muslims (down from 86% after Obama's inauguration) now approve of the president's 19-month job performance, while less than one-in-four Mormons (24%) do (down from 43%).

Catholics' job approval has fallen from 67% to 50%. Protestants' from 58% to 43%. Jews' from 77% to 61%. Other non-Christian religions' from 74% to 64%. And atheist/agnostic from 75% to 63%, believe it or not.

Overall, Gallup finds Americans' approval of Obama's job has dropped in the same time-span from 63% to 48%.

While consistently declining across faiths, Obama, who describes his own faith as Christian, has lost more among Mormons and least among Muslims, a group his administration has made special outreach efforts toward.

A separate poll last week (see Related Items below) found that nearly one-in-five Americans thought Obama himself was Muslim, while nearly halfway through his term, nearly half of the country didn't know what faith Obama holds.

Mexico is quickly becoming a very dangerous shithole. I can understand why a lot of them want to come here.

Lead investigator in Mexico massacre is missing

A lead investigator and another official looking into the massacre of 72 migrants whose bodies were found this week in northern Mexico are missing, President Felipe Calderon said Friday.

Calderon, who was giving a speech on drug violence, initially said the body of one of the men had been found. But he was handed a note few minutes later and corrected himself, saying the investigator was missing but there was no information about his death.

Mexican media reported Friday morning that two bodies had been found and that one of them belonged to the investigator.

The attorney general's office in Tamaulipas state, where the bodies of the 72 migrants were found Tuesday, identified the investigator as Roberto Jaime Suarez Vazquez. The news release did not name the other man other than to say he is a municipal police officer in San Fernando.

Both men disappeared Wednesday afternoon, the attorney general's office said.

Americans coming to dislike Harry Reid almost as much as they dislike fellow Democrat Nancy Pelosi

Nevada Democratic Sen. Harry Reid is catching up to fellow Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California in terms of being disliked by Americans nationally.

A new poll out from Rasmussen Reports finds that, of course, a majority of Americans dislike both of the Democratic legislative leaders who lead one of the least popular and less trusted institutions in American society.

For much of this year, the crusty Reid's unfavorable ratings lagged within the once-impressive 40% range, while Pelosi's unfavorables have consistently led her male powerbroker in the more impressive 50+% range.

But now thanks to both of them carrying the heavy congressional water for Barack Obama's controversial and expensive legislative agenda while the president boosted his own unfavorable rating to majority status, Reid has been able to close to within screaming distance in the unfavorable gap with Pelosi, who's next in line to the presidency after the VP.

Rasmussen finds that 59% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of the 11-term House member from San Francisco, while the four-term Reid now trails Pelosi by only 3 points at 56% unfavorable. Both politicians are 70 years old.

The same poll also finds Reid trailing Pelosi in favorable ratings, 26-34.

With Republicans now building a seven-point lead in generic congressional ballot polls, both Democrats face reelection campaigns and the voters on Nov. 2. Fortunately for both career politicians, those elections are local, not national.

Yeah, I think I may look in to that as I have a Netflix membership. I tell you what's great is having a PS3 which is great because you have a next generation system and a Blu-Ray Player. Need to start buying blu-rays instead of DVDs soon this said.

Teach, your children well
Their father's hell
Did slowly go by
And feed them on your dreams
The one they pick's

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another's throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself.

Wrong,

Post the post, Cato.

Do it.

Very well.

Oh, in triplicate! The HS coach noticed him two years ago at football camp and said he had what it takes. (That was the time another player laughed at him for missing a tackle. The Kid got up and sent him flying, onto his ass. The Kid was eight and the laugher was 13 and is now a HS tackle.)

Sanctioned violence. How thrilling.

What is the Monkeysphere?

First, picture a monkey. A monkey dressed like a little pirate, if that helps you. We'll call him Slappy.

Imagine you have Slappy as a pet. Imagine a personality for him. Maybe you and he have little pirate monkey adventures and maybe even join up to fight crime. Think how sad you'd be if Slappy died.

Now, imagine you get four more monkeys. We'll call them Tito, Bubbles, Marcel and ShitTosser. Imagine personalities for each of them now. Maybe one is aggressive, one is affectionate, one is quiet, the other just throws shit all the time. But they're all your personal monkey friends.

Now imagine a hundred monkeys.

Not so easy now, is it? So how many monkeys would you have to own before you couldn't remember their names? At what point, in your mind, do your beloved pets become just a faceless sea of monkey? Even though each one is every bit the monkey Slappy was, there's a certain point where you will no longer really care if one of them dies.

So how many monkeys would it take before you stopped caring?

That's not a rhetorical question. We actually know the number.

If you remember, a few days ago I mentioned Pawlenty's new book (proof of his Presidential ambitions), and the cover photo of it and how familiar it seemed (being quite close to The Sarah's often used picture.)

Anyway, today...

Pawlenty: Any book-cover similarity with Palin unintentional

Any similarity between Sarah Palin's book cover and the cover of Tim Pawlenty's upcoming book wasn't purposeful, the Minnesota governor and possible 2012 presidential candidate said.

"I don't know if it looks like it or not but we certainly didn't intend it that way," Pawlenty said Friday. The Palin-enty vibe was first noticed by a Vanity Fair blogger on Tuesday but Pawlenty said no one had raised it with him.

Your hotdisher failed to ask the governor about the similarity between his subtitle, "An American story" and her subtitle, "An American Life."

Here's Vanity Fair's side by side of the two bio books...

The firm I work for sponsors an innercity school and we do various fundraisers throughout the year. Today, we gave 65 backpacks with school supplies to the kids.

Anyway, I have this thing about making items "gender neutral", meaning that I don't believe that only black and navy colors are for boys and yellow and pink colors are for girls. One of the women in my office is the opposite. She makes sure that the yellow scissors goes with the yellow pencil case in the pink backpack, etc. And that's fine. It's no biggie, but they know I like to mix it all up.

Variety. Spice of life and all that.

So we get to the school today and each child gets to pick a backpack. One little boy selected a black pack with a pink stripe down the front and pink piping. Immediately, all my coworkers looked at me and laughed. "Well, I guess Marj is happy!" And I was.

Dare to be different. Right on.

Which is, succinctly put, the reason why humans will never "band together" to stop an amorphous threat like AGW.

But that is not true. The observed behavior of soldiers in war, and family members in a flood or other disaster, is that as a general rule, someone will give their life to save the life of an identical twin, two brothers/sisters/children, etc. In other words, we calculate degree of consanguinity and count our own life as worth what it's worth in terms of biological extended fitness.

With soldiers, it's not a matter of actual consanguinity, but assumed---that's why the talk of "band of brothers".

Now, how much is the life of your nation worth to you? Or your share of your nation? The answer is it's complicated, but still, a lot. We do, in fact, band together in the face of any evident mortal threat. It doesn't have to be an immediate threat; people do look ahead.

The danger is not that we will just meekly succumb to a known danger without ever lifting a hand in defense of our posterity, but that we will fail to understand that we are lobsters and that the pot is gradually getting unbearably hot.

I actually met a guy the other day at the booze store who was buying a pink lighter for that very reason.

Me, if I were destitute for a lighter, I'd probably steal a pink "Hello Kitty" one, because no guy who lives by those words would ever see it comin'.

My brothers GF has a Hello Kitty sticker on her car. A Hello Kitty air freshener and Hello Kitty jammies. I hate that fucking Kitty.

Eighth suspect sought in alleged homegrown terror plot

There are now eight suspects in a massive police probe into an alleged terror plot to bomb the Parliament buildings, the Ottawa Citizen has learned.

An early Friday arrest had raised the number of people in an alleged Ottawa terror cell to seven.

But the Citizen has learned the team carrying out the investigation, known as Project Samossa, has now identified an eighth conspirator in the homegrown terrorist bomb plot against the country’s seat of government and coalition troops in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, on Friday, several police vehicles and a heavily armed tactical team converged on a vehicle in Ottawa, handcuffing the driver, who appeared to be in his late 20s, and searching the car.

RCMP said Friday the man has not been charged and his identity was being withheld.

I hope not. While I am a big fan of Law Enforcement, this is going over the line. If they have enough proof to get a warrant, fine, go for it (for the record, I even posted about LE in my area catching some copper thieves using this tech). But to trespass onto private property to place a tracking device, without a warrant is wrong. And the excuse that it is just the same as physically trailing someone is just false. Watch the video. What is next? putting a wireless mike outside someone's home to catch potentially incriminating remarks just because they didn't post a No Trespassing sign?

Slippery slope in my opinion.

407 elbruce  Fri, Aug 27, 2010 10:23:45pm

re: #387 NJDhockeyfan

You can almost hear the extreme outrage if this had been reported 2 years ago. This report will be pushed to the back pages in a couple days if not already.

Outrageous rulings have been handed down for quite a long time now with not nearly enough outrage.

From the link:

But supporters of the decision see the GPS trackers as a law enforcement tool that is no more intrusive than other means of surveillance, such as visually following a person, that do not require a court's approval.

"You left place A, at this time, you went to place B, you took this street -- that information can be gleaned in a variety of ways," said David Rivkin, a former Justice Department attorney. "It can be old surveillance, by tailing you unbeknownst to you; it could be a GPS."

He says that a person cannot automatically expect privacy just because something is on private property.

"You have to take measures -- to build a fence, to put the car in the garage" or post a no-trespassing sign, he said. "If you don't do that, you're not going to get the privacy."

It shouldn't matter where the car was parked, whether in your garage, driveway or on the cub. It's your car. They shouldn't be allowed to attach things to it or mess with it in any way.

re: #406 Bubblehead II

Well, you could invest in a good bug detector. A signal sweeper can pick up the thing's transmissions and help you locate it. And once you find it, smash it. That would set the cops back a few dollars.

Outrageous rulings have been handed down for quite a long time now with not nearly enough outrage.

From the link:

George Bush will be blamed for this by lunchtime tomorrow.

He says that a person cannot automatically expect privacy just because something is on private property.

And that type of thinking is what scares me. It's on private property. They know it's private property. Yet, they still violate the boundaries. Why should I (or anyone else) have to put up a sign that says Private Property or Keep Out?

I have the equipment. A relatively sensitive Freq counter (with external antenna) and receivers that cover from .25 MHZ to 1300 MHZ coupled with a distinctive tone generator, I could probably detect such a device. But that isn't my point. Why should LE be allowed to trespass on private property, without a warrant to place electronic devices to track or listen to you?

You do realize that if the person in question was a cop, he could just shot Haku and claim the dog was threatening him? Cops shoot dogs in situations like that frequently, and they almost never punished for so doing.

Nope, it's a one-way street. If you tried to put a tracker on a cop car, they'd run you in. And they'd find a felony to charge you with. Police get real nasty when civilians try to run something like that in on them.

Also, my dear Falcon, this is another reason why I consider myself blessed to have my own garage, midst the big citee. If anyone wants to legally put a device on my car, that space is subject to a proper warrant, just as is my home.

Other people, who just want to grow and distribute a product made by God, are apparently less fortunate.

I'd rather have Rachel Maddow thump them. Olbermann is a nasty attack dog, and those who aren't fans of his would dismiss whatever he said in that spirit. Maddow is an actual journalist who can produce a fair report that hammers a malfactor.

Pre-season means little so long as no stars get hurt. The Lions went 4-0 in the pre-season two years ago.

I survived not being a Dallas Cowboys fan when I lived in OK for four football seasons, but it was sometimes a close-run thing. I also refused to root for OU, which was even worse in the eyes of the True Believers.

It's so crazy. I think this stuff really started with the general anti-immigration sentiment that's been brewing over the last couple years. All of a sudden, there's a "normal American" way where outsiders don't belong. It's contrary to everything we are.

There has always been anti-immigration sentiment in this country, ironic in that almost all of us are immigrants or descended from immigrants. It goes in cycles, but it's always there.

Or is that he is just, as Cato called me the other night, an asshole?
