is this true? :(

Streaming video requires Safari 4 or 5 on Mac OS X Snow Leopard or Safari on iOS 3 or later.

well as i have done every apple event, I just watch live updates from engadget, gizmodo or gdgt. well.. maybe not gizmodo, since i suspect they’re still banned for finding/stealing an iphone4.

Hmmm… something that streamlines HDR? That’s quite cool - as those who are experts in HDR can attest. I just can’t justify getting one and switching carriers, when ATT service is inadequate in the NYC metro area.

Then again, there’s apparently a HDR app for the iPhone that accomplishes this task.

I have an iPhone with Bell in Canada, but I was shocked by how crappy AT&T was in Boston. Call quality was garbage. Didn’t use the 3G data, figured my international roaming was going to be bad enough.

There’s a smaller iPod Nano and a smaller iPod Shuffle — they’re both really tiny, half the size and weight of the previous models, with built-in clips. Very cool little gadgets. 8G and 16G models.

Here’s an update…

Reported standoff at Discovery Channel building in Silver Spring

Multiple news sources are now reporting that there’s a hostage situation unfolding at the Discovery building. There’s multiple reports of hearing gunfire and speculation that the gunman has explosives. WaPo reports that the building is being evacuated but police have not confirmed that the man is armed or carrying explosives.

More as it unfolds.

Update: the Washingtonian’s twitter feed reports having a tipster inside Discovery HQ who says employees are stuck on their floor.

Update: DCist quotes Corporal Dan Friz describing the individual as a “hostage taker.”

I need to become a CEO and layoff a buttload of people:

As U.S. companies shed millions of workers during the recession, the CEOs who laid off the most people brought home pay that was significantly higher than that of their peers, a study released on Thursday found.

The CEOs of the 50 U.S. companies that laid off the most workers between November 2008 and April 2010 were paid $12 million on average in 2009, or 42 percent more than the average across the Standard & Poor’s 500, according to a study by the Institute for Policy Studies, a Washington think tank.

Terror attack in Lahore Pakistan. 28+ dead, 200+ injured in multiple bombings of a Shi’ite religious procession.

At least 28 people are dead and at least 218 others were injured Wednesday after three blasts during a Shiite procession here, authorities in Pakistan said

Khalid Ranjha, a Lahore government official, said two of the dead are children and two others are women, and seven of those injured are in critical condition.

The three explosions occurred in a radius of about 600 meters (2,000 feet).

The nature of the first and third blasts was not known, but the second blast was thought to be the work of a suicide bomber, whose head was found at the scene, said Khusro Pervez, a senior government official.

He said extra security measures had been put in place for the procession, but the incidents took place around the time of the daily breaking of the Ramadan fast, and security may have been lax.
