Standpoint: Pamela Geller Ignores Pleas to Cancel 9/11 Protest

The UK magazine Standpoint is covering Pamela “Shrieking Harpy” Geller’s decision to ignore the pleas of some 9/11 family members to cancel her hate rally on September 11: Pamela Geller Ignores Pleas to Cancel 9/11 Protest.

It’s worse than simply “ignoring” their pleas, though; Geller viciously attacked the spokesman for the 9/11 families’ group, calling him a “socilaist [sic] vampire.”

Alexander Melegrou-Hitchens also points out Geller’s connections to the European hate franchise “Stop Islamisation of Europe,” and to the violent racist thugs of the English Defense League.

And of course, in true shrieking harpy style, this article has provoked another illiterate, rage-filled rant from Geller, calling Melegrou-Hitchens a “bold-faced liar” (when every word in his article is true), and demanding that he be fired.

What is a "bold-faced liar" anyway? And can you qualify if you lie in italics or all caps instead?

A few years back, I remember being very offended that Cindy Sheehan would use other people's dead sons and daughters for her protest, against the wishes of the parents.

The principle still stands.

Let them have a day to mourn in peace.

Why is the MSM even paying attention to a blogger who can't spell, use common phrases like "bald-faced liar" or use basic web formatting anyway?

No, she had a bunch of fake gravestones with the names of other deceased soldiers. At least one father flew down there to remove his son's "headstone" in person.

I'll see if I can find a cached news story about it.

Well, that's way over the line. As I recall, Bush did meet her once. She then started her activist career based on demanding that he meet with her, even though he already had. So she wasn't really playing very fair the whole time.

But for me, I'd be a lot less harsh in criticizing somebody who actually did lose a kid than somebody who hadn't, just as I'd be a lot less harsh in criticizing a Park51 opponent who actually lost a family member in 9/11 rather than somebody who hadn't.

Grief can mess people up.

You don't have to be smart to do that kind of thing on purpose, and Geller frequently uses Nazi-like language to describe Muslims, such as "parasites" and "vermin," and even compares them to rats.

27 thatthatisis  Tue, Sep 7, 2010 10:38:38am

I work for a large corporation which lost many people in the Twin Towers. Our computers suddenly all went out, and we were standing around chatting about how dependent we were on computers, when one of our colleagues got a call from her husband's cell phone. He was trapped under debris, and a big jet had hit the towers.

Some of us called friends or relatives, and got them to hold the telephone near their TV's since we had no way of getting news. Everyone started doing that, and all of us from mail room workers to executive staff huddled together listening to the TV through speaker phones.

I won't tell you how many we lost. I won't tell you how many funerals I attended, and how many living rooms I sat in, crying with the spouses and families of the wonderful people we lost.

But I will tell you that on that first day, as we stood together with tears in our eyes, knowing we were losing friends, the 3 Muslim workers in our office stood off to the side, crying. They felt conflicted about approaching us. Until one of my friends went over a hugged them. Then they came in, and cried with us, and went to funerals with us, and they went to our religious memorials, and they cursed the names of Atta and the others who hijacked the planes, along with all the rest of us. Because they lost the same friends we did, and suffered as we did. Because they were us.

So people who want to lump Muslims together, and hate on Muslims, and make hateful comments about anyone who worships the Islamic faith, can just go to bloody hell.

re: #35 Jimmah

They've (including and especially Geller/Spencer, but also the media reporting on the whole situation) been conflating it being in/on/near for quite some time. It has much greater emotional impact to claim that the super-sized mega triumphal mosque is built on (or in) Ground Zero rather than near it.

I seem hesitant to broach it, because it still seems kind of vague and amorphous at present, and I'm sure there many many counterexamples that could be found, but let me throw this nascent thesis out there anyway...

Geller seems to be at the pivot point of a movement to triangulate historical virulent racism (aka. neo-Nazis) and aim it away from Jews and towards Muslims instead. Here we've got a Jew standing shoulder to shoulder with seig-heiling swastika-tattoo'd Nazis in common cause against a completely different target. And as long as she keeps the volume turned up to 11, they don't seem to mind so much. In one sense, I wouldn't trust those guys as far as I could throw them, but in another sense, the fact that at least some of them seem to be willing to accept this shift in allegiances may say something positive about Jewish acceptance in the West. Being Jewish isn't nearly the big deal it was in past generations, and hardly as alien; nor are Jews primarily relegated to a limited set of occupations in modern society. Now the semitic target who don't assimilate enough to please them and who are "all out to git us" are the Arabs.

More shrieking insanity from Atlas Sags:

It's moving folks - it's no longer at ground zero its actually ON it now. Wow.

Lying comes easy to thugs. And that's what Geller, Spencer, SIOA, SIAD, and so on are: thugs. Here's the latest slime she's bringing over from Denmark:

Anders Gravers Pedersen - Stop Islamiseringen af Danmark

And an excerpt of his latest lunacy:

The biggest totalitarian project in this -- in the group here -- is the European Union. The European Union acts secretly, with the European people being deceived about its development. Democracy is being deliberately removed, and the latest example being the Lisbon Treaty. However the plan goes much further with an ultimate goal of being a European-Arabian super-state, incorporating Muslim countries of North Africa and the Middle East in the European Union (EU). This is already initiated with the signing of the Barcelona treaty in '95 by the EU and nine North African states, and it became effective the first of January, 2010 -- this year. It is also known as the Euro-Mediterranean co-operation. In return for some European control of oil resources, Muslim countries will have unfettered access to technology and movement of people into Europe. The price Europeans will have to pay is the introduction of Sharia law and removal of democracy.

Believe me America is not far behind, and we think you are overtaking us. Violent, economic, cultural and stealth Jihad is the knife slicing the salami of freedom. The salami of freedom is still being sliced. It is time for us to snatch the slicing-knife of jihad, stop mosque building, stop Sharia law and stop Sharia finance.

I see some of the blogs on the right are turning against General Petraeus over his comments on the Koran burning. Not only do they support the burning, one suggested using it as toilet paper. The few that spoke up about the real danger to out troops were shouted down by the bloggers that suggested bombing mecca for example.
I've seen a trend by the hard right to go Rambo while safe behind their keyboards no matter the consequences for our service people.
