As you may be aware, one way we pay the bills at LGF is through the support and generosity of our readers. We spend a lot of time maintaining, programming, and moderating this site, and we also now provide a custom-programmed blogging and commenting system for registered users (LGF Pages) with features you won’t find anywhere else — all without charging a penny up front. If you think LGF is worth supporting, please consider tossing some coins in the tip jar.

Here’s the link to donate through PayPal.

You can also subscribe to make regular donations of $10 a month.

(Coming soon: if you’re a registered lizard who subscribes to LGF, we’ll have a special feature that turns off all the advertisements for you, which will speed up the site greatly.)

And remember, if you buy a copy of the LGF Cookbook Volume 2, half the proceeds go to the terrific charity group Soldier’s Angels.

Thank you for your support! We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming…

As soon as I my new bank card gets here, I'll sign up for the recurring. That makes it a lot easier than remembering to donate.

Off topic, but it seems a British Rocker died in a pretty weird way, when a Yakov Smirnoff joke become real and a hay bale rolled into his car.

P.S. I'm trying to keep these fundraising requests to a bare minimum - it's been more than a month and a half since the last one.

And I'm working on some code to turn off the advertisements for people who subscribe, by the way.

Absolutely! $10 a month? Affordable, and far less than the local paper. I've been a sponsor for a little while.
SO WORTH IT!

I wonder what his lizard nic is.

From your link:

It goes without saying that Kubica, as a concern troll, is unwelcome at Daily Kos. Daily Kos is a progressive community and its community membership are united by the goal of electing more and better Democrats to public office. While we are tolerant of a wide range of views within the "Big Blue Tent," make no mistake: this site is every bit as blue as it is orange. If Kubica had identified his role with his campaign, he would not have been welcome in the community, so he resorted to deception.

I had no idea membership was restricted like that at Kos. No honest dissent if the goals don't match? Huh.

i saw that too. i was a smidge concerned too.
but then again, i think about all the stupid trolls in my local newspaper website and all my favorite websites and think "good riddance".
plus, he was a paid intern. something tells me "troll dkos" isn't part of his job description (and probably shouldn't be part of "other duties as assigned" either)

re: #20 Obdicut

It's because he's a paid staffer, I believe.

That was the reason for outing his identity, but the paragraph I quoted makes it sound like he would not have been welcome even if he had been honest about his intentions and his ID. Unless "his role in the campaign" was not an honest one. I could be misreading it.

No surprise here -- I've caught political operatives doing the same thing at LGF. Once we had someone trolling us for the AFL-CIO.

This does show the kinds of tactics Paulians use. They're some of the most obsessed and reality-challenged political drones on the net, and that means they have no scruples about lying, trolling, stacking polls, etc.

I love it... they just got off of their standard 4 week vacations in Aug. and now it's strike time... I was reading Le Monde yesterday, and they have plans for a number of other strikes over the next month.

That's one of the reasons why when I can afford to travel to Paris, I do it in Jan. or Feb. Besides the cheaper off-season prices, you will rarely find the French striking in the middle of winter... those streets can be damp and chilly.

re: #25 Walter L. Newton

That was in response to a move by the French govt to raise the pension age from 60 to 62 because the government's spending was out of control. Raising the retirement age would help bring the French pension back into the black by 2018. The French response to any changes to the work week or employment in general is a strike. It's the French way.

Meanwhile, London was hit by a transit strike of its own, where transit workers walked off the job because 800 might lose jobs.

One attorney in Rifqa case sues another, Orlando's John Stemberger

A Muslim attorney on one side of the Rifqa Bary dispute has filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit against Orlando attorney John Stemberger, an activist Christian attorney who worked for the other side.

The suit was filed by Omar Tarazi in federal court in Columbus, Ohio, Friday. It names John Stemberger of the conservative Florida Family Policy Council.

Also being sued is a blogger from elsewhere, Pamela Oshry, who writes under the name Pamela Geller at the website atlasshrugged2000 and penned scathing anti-Muslim posts after Rifqa ran away from home in July 2009, saying she was afraid her Muslim parents would kill her for converting to Christianity.

Interesting.

In addition to the neo-Nazis and white supremacists and Eurofascists, Geller is also hooking up with the extreme fundamentalist right wing. She's also working with the Thomas More Law Center, one of the most extreme activist Christian law firms in the US -- they were instrumental in pushing the Dover "intelligent design" case, and many other atavistic far right causes.

There are days I wonder if the luddite wing of the right isn't actually more dangerous to humanity in the long term than the fascist wing. After last century's examples it's a hard case to make, but there were those dark ages.

Del. GOP Candidate Opposes ... Masturbation

Delaware Republican state lawmaker Mike Castle isn’t conservative enough for the Tea Party, who have put up their own candidate to run against him for the Senate seat that Joe Biden left when he became vice president. The candidate of choice for the Tea Party Express? Christine O’Donnell, whose campaign has been beset by accusations of false claims regarding her degree, her past electoral record, and an anti-gay smear campaign against Castle said to be the work of former O’Donnell campaign workers.

Add to that one more wrinkle, reported Care2.com on Sept. 4: O’Donnell opposes sex outside of marriage so vehemently that she has spoken out against masturbation, even as a means of avoiding sexual intercourse before marriage, because she believes it to be a form of adultery.

"The Bible says that lust in your heart is committing adultery," O’Donnell claimed on an MTV program called Sex in the 90s. "So you can’t masturbate without lust," O’Donnell claimed, according to the article. "The reason that you don’t tell [people] that masturbation is the answer to AIDS and all these other problems that come with sex outside of marriage is because, again, it is not addressing the issue. You’re just gonna create somebody who is, I was gonna say, toying with his sexuality. Pardon the pun."

The wingnuts are silent.

Obama seeks massive tax break for business

Companies could save $200 billion by writing off capital investment. The president also announces a $50-billion spending plan for roads, runways and railroads.

That's 200 billion in tax savings. Of course if they're not being silent I'm sure they're finding something to whine about and talk as if though they're an expert about something or another.

Here's something I rarely if ever say--

Props to Kos.

I may make a donation to Conway after this. While it's entirely possible that the "intern" in question did this on his own, IMO it's probably that his own inclinations were increased by the "ends justify the means", "honor and truth are just constructs" type of thinking that I believe is typical of the Paul types.
