English Defense League Leader Refused Entry to US - Update: FBI Searched EDL’s Rooms

Wingnuts • Views: 8,182

One of the English Defense League thugs who was planning to attend Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer’s hate rally last weekend was refused entry into the US.

I’ve picked up a rumour this morning that EDL leader ‘Tommy Robinson’ has been refused entry into the United States where he was due to attend an anti-Islam rally at Ground Zero in New York. Robinson was travelling with a number of other EDL leaders when he was turned away at the Immigration desk for apparent entry form irregularities. He was taken into custody and almost immediately put on a plane back to London. His fellow EDL members were allowed to go through.

The name “Tommy Robinson” is in quotes above because this guy is apparently hiding his real identity — which might explain why he was taken into custody and returned to the UK.

Here’s more information about “Tommy Robinson.”

UPDATE at 9/13/10 10:50:21 am:

And in another revealing bit of news, the EDL skinheads who did manage to make it into the US had a close encounter with the FBI.

It’s been a disastrous weekend all round for the English Defence League, who had promised it would be so momentous for their rapidly declining movement.

First, leader ‘Tommy Robinson’ was ejected from the USA, citing paperwork issues; we suspect the real story is more likely to be linked to his criminal record. Then, the ‘28,000 members’ the EDL brag about failed to materialise at the myriad 9/11 events they have tried to co-ordinate, managing to amass about 400 demonstrators in total, UK-wide, including those who turned out for an inpromptu ‘flash demo’ in Oldham.

Yesterday’s sojourn into Nuneaton to disrupt a British Army homecoming parade descended into farce when EDL members ventured into a popular Asian community in the city chanting racist sings, and were forced to hide in the Crew public house, as crowds of disgusted locals – Muslim and non-Muslim – turned out to confront them. You can view some excellent video footage from Nyquist Media here. …

This morning news reaches us that those who DID manage to make it into the USA have been swooped on in their hotel rooms by FBI agents, and had their belongings extensively searched; among them was prominent and well known thug, Ronnie Burgess.

As far as I can tell he has at least 3 identities. Combined with his recent arrest for fraud he might have been traveling with a fake passport. The Brits probably don't want him traveling anyways.

England and Wales Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) Decisions
Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson)

The Background

# On 18th April 2005, in the Luton Crown Court, this appellant was convicted by a majority of 11.1 of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (Count One) and by a majority of 10-2 of assault with intent to resist arrest (Count Two). He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment on Count One and 3 months imprisonment concurrent on Count Two. He appeals by way of leave of the single judge.

The prosecution case

# The incident in question took place in Luton at around 3am on 4th July 2004. The victim was an off duty police officer called Dalton. He and his neighbours Mr and Mrs Bye were woken by an argument in the street between the appellant and his girlfriend Jenna Vowles. Although living in the same street, Dalton and the Byes did not know each other. Concerned by the screaming and raised voices, the three of them went into the street from their homes.

# The appellant was described as being "on a short fuse" and that "something had riled him". Miss Vowles was sobbing and hysterical wanting nothing to do with him. Dalton concerned for Miss Vowles, told the appellant that he should let her go home alone. He indicated that he was a police officer and showed the appellant his warrant card. He tried to bring the appellant to the ground. Both men fell to the ground. The appellant managed to get to his feet and kicked Mr Dalton in the head. Dalton had thrown no punches. Dalton then stood up and told the appellant that he was arresting him for assaulting a police officer. It was subsequently decided that such an arrest would not be prudent and that the Byes who had witnessed the whole incident, would ascertain the appellant's address.

The defence case

# In interview and in evidence, the appellant said that he had been out clubbing. He had drunk one bottle of Smirnoff Vodka. He and Jenna Vowles had an argument. She had dropped her mobile phone and was on her hands and knees trying to pick it up. The eye witnesses must have assumed that he was the aggressor. Dalton came up to him. He asked the appellant what he was doing. His breath smelled of alcohol. Jenna was not sobbing or crying. Dalton told him he was not going home and pushed him around, pushing him in the face and pulled his legs from under him. He did not produce a warrant card or say he was a police officer. The appellant did not kick him. It was only at the end when Dalton was threatening him that he indicated he was a police officer. The appellant did not believe him. He suggested that Mr Bye knew Dalton as he addressed Dalton by his Christian name, telling him to leave it and go home. The appellant and Jenna then ran home.

Continues.

WSJ confirms: Pam Geller lost the battle of Ground Zero protests

From the Journal [emphasis added]:

Along a stretch of Broadway near City Hall, about 2,000 people, according to the New York Police Department, rallied in support of the mosque on Saturday, many of them representing the International Action Center, an activist group. They carried signs saying "No to Racism and Bigotry—from NYC to Palestine" and "Racism and Bigotry Promote War."

And:

The crowd repeatedly broke into chants of "U-S-A!" and "No more mosque!" which at times were led by Dutch politician Geert Wilders, leader of the anti-Islamic Freedom Party. About 1,500 people attended the anti-mosque rally, police said.

This comes after a Friday vigil in favor of the proposed Islamic community center drew approximately 2,000 people.

I think I'm going to see Machete tonight

Of course I've wanted to see it since I saw Grindhouse, since before it even was a real movie, but the fact that the usual Fox News/anti-immigration nativist hand-wringing whiteys are losing their mud about it just makes it that much more satisfying to give Robert Rodriguez my money

HE GETS THE WOMEN

I posted that earlier...it appears Breitbart is throwing a tantrum about being ignored by the media because he's a pathological liar, and now he's attacking the media to try and bait them into engaging with him. I don't think they'll take the bait, no matter how many times he says "Katie Couric" (though if he says it enough times, Sarah Palin may find a place for him on her crack squad of twitterers and facebookers).

From TPM via the GOS:

A would-be Koran-burner in Amarillo, Texas was foiled by a 23-year-old Texas skateboarder named Jacob Isom, who was among a group of people protesting a planned burning on Saturday. As Isom described it: "I snuck up behind him and took his Koran, he said something about burning the Koran, I said 'Dude you have no Koran,' and ran off."

Don't know if this has come up on other threads, but I find this heartening.
