The True Leader of the GOP Backs John Boehner, Republicans Relieved

The most influential conservative in America has come out on the side of John Boehner.

Rush Limbaugh used his hit radio show Monday to defend House Republican Leader John Boehner against hits from the press and the White House.

Limbaugh’s backing came as a comfort to Boehner allies…

… because the race-baiting hate radio mogul is basically in charge of the Republican Party, and they know it.

Is this known as "pulling a Boehner"?

Everybody does it.

Only the impure at heart, I have heard that it leads to adulterous behavior...

At least now we can say Rush Limbaugh actually supports at least one person of color. (Orange.)

He still rants about the "Democrat Party". Shall we start talking about the "Republic Party"?

With the teabagger candidates, Boehner is almost a moderate. (hell no!)

Ha! It's very very twisted.

Did he not say he will not necessarily fight tooth and nail to preserve the Bush tax cuts? That is pure RINO!!!

9 Fozzie Bear  Tue, Sep 14, 2010 9:40:39am

The top 1% of income represented 23% of the total aggregate income of all Americans in 2007, and the top 1/10 of 1% represented 11% of the aggregate income of all Americans in the same year. I would speculate that the numbers remain as high or higher at present, though the data is incomplete for 2008 to the present. Time will tell.

I don't get how anyone could argue that the deficit is unsustainably high, and simultaneously argue that it makes fiscal sense for the top 1% to retain the Bush tax cuts. Spending does need to be trimmed, but that's not only thing that needs to be done to address long term deficits. Taxation is also part of the solution.

Some people honestly believe that tax cuts always produce more tax revenue.

They don't believe in a Laffer Curve, but a Laffer Line.

It's weird.

STOP SPENDING!!!!*

*but give us more tax cuts, more Medicare, create jobs, stop illegal immigration, exclude military spending from the budget, tax cuts, and more tax cuts.

That's not too much to ask, right?

It's just part of the larger trend of rejecting science. In this case, the science of economics. I.e., the General Theory.

It has been a long time since "conservative" economic policy has been anything even remotely resembling actually conservative.

There appear to be a huge number of people in the GOP who don't understand that Voodoo Economics didn't mean they were magically delicious, or, you know, worked.

17 Sol Berdinowitz  Tue, Sep 14, 2010 10:16:30am

It's an American Ideology Thing: taxes are bad, so cutting them is good.

There is also a residual Reagan-era belief that the money that people save in tax cuts will be reinvested in the economy, which might have made sense in the 80's, but in todays globalized economy, investment follows the highest returns, which are more often overseas.

Sweet Jesus Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

The two alums of my college currently in Congress are Boehner and Bunning. That's bad enough, but after Bunning retires this fall, the average intelligence won't rise!

rush is losing his hearing, not his eyesight. both sowell and williams have guest hosted his show, so presumably he has seen them :)

Before giving Limbaugh credit for knowing a few black people, one should take a look at this list of fucked up racist comments he's made over the years.

no argument on this, but in fairness I thought it would show the blog's credibility if I responded to your number 4 comment with some facts. I have abandoned rush completely in recent years and am in the process of using CNN much more than FOX news. Although I still pay attention to FNC on occasion.
