LGF Pages (the individual pages with comments) now have a new look - similar to the posts on the front page, with the author's byline at the top under the title.
(I noticed that some people were wrongly attributing Pages to me, probably because the author's name was at the bottom of the post where it could be easily missed. This should fix that, and let you properly get the credit for any Pages you post.)
I also removed the light green background and rounded corners from the individual pages, and changed some other things about the font styling to get things more consistent.

In 2008 O' Donnell got 132942 (out of roughly 398,000 cast) votes running against Biden. She got 30561 in this primary.
In the last midterm senate election in DE, in 2006, the vote total was about 243,000, or roughly 122,000 were needed to win (the Dem won with 170567 votes.)
With 30,000 true believers already in her pocket, and assuming the turn out is similar to 2006, will O'Donnell be able to pick up another 92,000 or so supporters?
If the turnout is like 2008 - unlikely but perhaps the fame of this story will cause it to be so - she has to make up a 117,000 vote deficit.
No wonder the pundits are already putting Delaware in the (D).

You are conflating 9/11 truthers with people who think that the Bush administration ignored warnings that Bin Laden was determined to strike, and ignored other warnings about an imminent attack.
That is bizarre.
Again: there are 17 current GOP members of congress-- let alone the depressingly huge numbers of GOP voters-- who are birthers.

OK, Kucinich.
If you chase through all the claims of that site of what Kucinich said till you get to what he ACTUALLY said, you get this:
I want to call to the attention of the House the juxtaposition of two news stories. One [..] relating to 9/11. It says 'Federal officials where repeatedly warned in the months before the September 11, 2001 terror attacks that Osama bin Laden and Al-Queda were planning aircraft hijacking suicide attempts according to a new report that the Bush administration had been repressing'. And this from the front page of the Washington post, 'a newly leaked video recording the high level government deliberation the day before Katrina hit shows disaster officials infatically warning President bush that the storm posed a catastrophic threat to new Orleans and the gulf coast, and a grim faced bush personally assuring state leaders that his administration was fully prepared [..] to help'.Do we see a pattern here? 9/11? Katrina? They knew something was going to happen and they didn't act. They knew that if they went into Iraq that we were looking at a disaster, that there was no way we were going to be able to run that country. They know that global climate change poses a threat to the entire planet, nothing is being done, a pattern of recklessness, indifference, callousness. The implications are deadly for the people of the United States.
I don't think that's what the truthers are saying.

I'll have to try this recipe with the vinegar. I've noticed that if you stretch the cooking time too long (more than 8 hours) the carrots and onions start to convert to sugars and the broth tastes too sweet. Maybe the vinegar counteracts that.
when I make chicken soup, I put the chicken pieces into a cheesecloth bag, and the vegetables into another cheesecloth bag, so that I can just remove the bags when it's done.

The following guy won the Wisconsin GOP primary for Senate:
Sunspots are behind climate change, Johnson says
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ron Johnson on Monday offered uncompromising views on climate change and confirmation of Supreme Court justice nominees, during a session with Journal Sentinel editors and reporters.[...]
A global warming skeptic, Johnson said extreme weather phenomena were better explained by sunspots than an overload of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, as many scientists believe.
"I absolutely do not believe in the science of man-caused climate change," Johnson said. "It's not proven by any stretch of the imagination."
Johnson, in an interview last month, described believers in manmade causes of climate change as "crazy" and the theory as "lunacy."
"It's far more likely that it's just sunspot activity or just something in the geologic eons of time," he said.
Excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere "gets sucked down by trees and helps the trees grow," said Johnson.
Average Earth temperatures were relatively warm during the Middle Ages, Johnson said, and "it's not like there were tons of cars on the road."
He said he disagreed with any government spending to try to address global warming. A strong economy is the best way to preserve a good environment, Johnson said.
Trying to fix global warming is "a fool's errand," Johnson said. "I don't think we can do anything about controlling what our climate is."
Johnson also said his comments on drilling for oil in the Great Lakes had been misconstrued by Feingold, who ran TV ads criticizing Johnson and calling him a proponent of Great Lakes drilling.
Johnson said when he told an interviewer that "we have to get the oil where the oil is," he didn't hear any reference to the Great Lakes in the interviewer's question.
Besides, the Great Lakes oil reserves are too small to be worth drilling, Johnson said.
On Supreme Court nominees, Johnson said he had no "litmus test" to support or oppose a candidate. However, he said he would vote against a nominee whose views he disagreed with and would filibuster a nominee with views he strongly opposed.
The filibuster is a debate tactic used by the minority party in the Senate to delay or block votes.
"If I would see a justice who I really thought was awful, in terms of judicial you know, what rulings they had in the past, I would certainly be willing to filibuster," Johnson said.
He said he preferred justices who would strictly follow the constitution in their rulings.
He said he would have voted against both of President Obama's Supreme Court appointees, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, as well as both appointees of President Clinton - Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
[...]
He also at times seems ok with teaching creationism in public schools:

Wow. Carl Paladino is winning the GOP nomination, despite his well-documented racism, misogyny, and insanity.
If he wins, I wonder if his success will have hinged on outcrazying Rick Lazio on Park 51 (since it's a low turnout base election).

Wingnuts, gotta love them
I'll disagree. You apparently haven't worked in a large bureaucracy. They are incredibly inefficient. (The same for Gubmint and large private industries like GM). Was there a huge fuck-up by the Feds in the run-up to 9/11?
No doubt.
One of the problems is that they had no real anti-terrorism boys or girls with an ear to either Rove or Bush, who had just come from the Texas Statehouse, where Islamic Fundamentalism was as big a problem as Oak Wilt. It is not at all surprising that they got caught with their pants down. One of the big problems with the Executive in the US system of gov't management is the number of senior positions held by appointees (Heckuva job, Brownie!) vs. the long-term, knowledgeable civil service. The UK has a much better system in this area.

No, my remarks were about the truthers and those who said 9/11 was an inside job. Further, that is the implication of some of those listed.
The same can be said of the birthers. Not all are confirmed believers- some say that want to see the docs, they want an investigation, etc.
I'm sorry, but this is utter bullshit.
You are conflating people who think that the US government engaged in a massive conspiracy to kill its own citizens in order to start a war (or even weirder reasons) with people who want to know why 9/11 happened, want to make political hay out of the intelligence failure, and why the Bush administration wasn't more focused on terrorism.
There is a real question there. I think the question has already been sufficiently answered, and is not too damning; nobody thought something like 9/11 would happen, and the failures were all up and down the line.
But birhterism there is no rational basis for, at all. In the least, in any way.
Conflating people who supported a 9/11 investigation with troofers is amazingly insulting to those people.
Your statement that the left has troofers and the right has birhters ignores the fact that 'troofers' are an incredibly small minority of people on the left-- and exist on the right as well-- and ignores the fact that such a huge number of GOP voters are birthers and the large number of elected officials and GOP media figures who support this nonsense.

That such flawed candidate as O'Donnell could beat professional pol Castle should send a message to the political class. Many voters are fed-up with business as usual, they're fed-up at insane deficits, they're fed-up with Washington's micromanagement. They want government that officials who respect the Constitution, as opposed to considering it a "flaw" to be circumvented. They're fed-up with nonsense like InJustice Breyer's view that it's legal to burn the flag, but not the Koran. Above all, they're fed-up with elitists who hold them in contempt. The problem is an establishment that can't do any better than a Castle or Obama or Rangel.
Man this is a gigantic rice-krispie-treat of bumper sticker gibberish, mmm mmm good
"Voters are fed up!"
"Washingtons mismanagement!"
"it's legal to burn the flag, but not the Koran!"
"they're fed-up with elitists!"
And Obama and Rangel in the same breath! Oh I know, those scheming black people, can't trust them!

This is not helpful for the R's in November. Right now, Keith is pissing himself in glee that the R's have lost control of teh crazees. These whackjobs couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag in a general election.

Dude, it was an R primary. It means nothing in the general, except that the Rs have lost control to teh crazees. The Ds will have their voters, teh crazees will have theirs, and the Indies will have to choose.

re: #216 Obdicut
But why do you disagree?
I made my case.
You have not made a case for why the comparison is good. You have asserted it.
There is a rational basis to ask for a 9/11 inquiry.
There is no rational basis to ask for proof of Obama's citizenship. There never was, and there certainly isn't now.
What is your actual argument for why the comparison is apt?
Just to reiterate- I am not a birther. Never was. Just so we're clear.
Onwards.
For one thing, I believe what was presented was a COLB- not the same as a BC. I think that rankles a lot of birthers. They want to see the certified copies of the original (some of the hardballers also want to see his passport, but that's just nuts).
As I said repeatedly, I have no problem with 9/11 investigations. There are those lunatics who want the investigations to point to a 'Bush did it-inside job' conclusion but we all know where that will go.
All I said was that many of the birthers want to see the original docs and that is why I disagree with you. They believe they have cause.
I am by no means assigning credibility to the birther movement.

You have to make a case for wanting to see it being a rational inquiry.
You have failed to do so.
So your comparison to people who want a 9/11 investigation into the intelligence failure who are NOT saying that the US government was an active participant has no merit.
Because wanting a 9/11 investigation into the intelligence failure is a rational inquiry.
You are comparing a rational inquiry to an irrational one.

A 'troofer' is someone who believes the US government or Mossad, or the UN, or Hillary Clinton, or the French, or anyone but a beardy goatfucker on dialysis actually planned and carried out the attacks.
Fixed.
I don't include Saddam Hussein in that list because anyone who believes he was involved isn't a troofer, they're a moran.*

LOL- you have no idea how lonely it gets out here!
Nowadays, to say you are conservative is to be classified as either a TP'er, GOP hack or Evangelical- and those things are so far beyond the conservative horizon.
I touched on it here, but it goes beyond that. There is a real cancer within GOP ranks and true conservatives (which actually means fiscal conservatives) are becoming a rare and unheard breed. In fact, true conservatives have much in common with classical liberals.
Sadly, we'll no longer see either for much longer, unless there are some fundamental changes in the way we do business.
The crazies on both sides make me nuts.
I like the way you, Gus, Free, Reine, SFZ, FG, WW, and Ice, etc etc do business.
