We Got Mail!

I haven’t seen the kookosphere this riled up in quite some time; I guess the wingnuts are all puffed up from their big wins in Delaware and New York, because the hate mail is pouring in today.

Here’s the stand-out email of the day, from a reader in Yonkers, New York, who’s clearly an admirer of Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, and Carl Paladino.

Re: Cuomo is like an old flat pillar its time to get rid of him.

Andrew Cuomo endorsed the Islam Mosque near Ground Zero, and he accepted money from Islam Muslims. Americans do not trust Andrew Cuomo and they will let him know their passionate feelings at the polls.

It’s Official New York State is the most corrupt Political State in the country.

Read This Article and watch all the videos about these Islam Muslims, and then tell me if you think they should have equal rights in America. All it will take for us to lose our freedom in America is 20% Islam Muslims and they will take away our freedom and they will do to America what they did to Europe.

Muslims are terrorist, it’s not a religion it’s a way of life!

When I was done with this story I had to vomit.

Dude. I sure hope you were near a toilet.

I love how this dude talks about freedom but supports a candidate who wants to imprison welfare receipents. As for Islam being a "way of life." Gee, don't many Christians define their Christianity as being part of their lives. Oh that's right, it's different with Muslims since they can't be real Americans.

From the link provided at the Observer that Charles (properly) declined to supply.

"Muslims own most of our gas stations, taxi stands, stationary stores with lotto, they are building inspectors all over New York City and they’re Inspectors for our bridges and tunnels. They work as security guards, they install central air in New York City Buildings etc... Think about bio terrorism, think about how simple it’s going to be for them to kill us. They are everywhere that they can control. Imagine if they wanted to blow up our gas stations at the same time? When these Muslims take control of our government they will violently kill us because we do not submit to their way of life. They’re motto is Islam will dominate the world! Is this what you what to happen to America? If not, then demand these people have no rights and don’t entertain their excuses. "

Not because I expect the sort of bloodbath they all assure me is coming (I don't), but because I worry what they're gonna do if they wake up the day after and find that they didn't take Congress back, they don't have the sort of majorities they need to ram through their "Commonsense Constitution" agenda, and that Tea Party candidates left and right dropped like flies.

THat's actually how I first learned about her. She was defending/apologizing for interning Japanese Americans during WWII. Nevermind the fact that one of if not the most decorated units in the war was comprised of Japanese Americans or the fact it was under Reagan or H.W Bush that we apologized for that miscarriage of justice. I'd actually have a lot of respect for Malkin if she used it as a criticism of FDR's administration because it's one of mine of FDR's.

47 Our Precious Bodily Fluids  Wed, Sep 15, 2010 5:28:50pm

One thing I often hear repeated by the press regarding the Tea Partiers is that they are allegedly "well-educated". Granted, I know lots of college-educated dumbshits, but I have an exceptionally hard time believing that the Tea Party activists are, on the whole, anything resembling "well-educated".

Does anyone have any idea where this data comes from?

Even NPR called Christine O'Donnell "sharp". Either their definition of "sharp" differs substantially from mine, or I'm missing an awful lot of information.

From their own damn story:

In 2008, her house fell into foreclosure and was scheduled for auction, until a friend and campaign worker bought it from her. She was then audited by the IRS. In an interview with NPR in August, she suggested that the audit was politically motivated.

"I ran against Joe Biden and I was audited," she said. "My mother's business was audited, and many other members of my family were audited." Asked why she thought she was audited, she said, "Who knows? It could be thug politics. It could be intimidation tactics. Either way, it didn't stop me."

At the end of the audit, she says, the IRS slapped a tax lien on the house, which had already been sold.

"See, that's the other thing ... what makes it really funny," she said. "Because it's an $11,000 tax lien on a home that I sold in 2008, so I didn’t even own the home when they put a tax lien on it."

O'Donnell calls the lien a computer error. She says it's been cleared up, but it's still on her credit report. She earns very little money now and pays half of her rent with campaign donations. She says that's justified because she's running her campaign out of her house.

And it recently came to light that her alma mater, Fairleigh Dickinson University, didn't issue her a degree in 1993 because she still owed it money.

All of this, O'Donnell says, is actually good for her: It shows that she's not a millionaire.

Whisky Tango Foxtrot, over. THAT IS NOT EVIDENCE OF "SHARPNESS".

When the far-Left made similar noises and grumblings, I just laughed it off. What were they gonna do? Refuse to shower? Threaten to wear even more patchouli oil? Have a drum circle outside my window at night?

But when I hear the far-Right making similar noises and grumblings, I can't help but notice they're accompanied by the scents of gun oil and gun powder. With the way they're working themselves into a frenzy, expecting Election Day to be the icing on the cake, I worry that anything less than total victory is gonna spawn more than a little violence.

As mentioned at the end of the prior thread, voteview has an ongoing study on voting behavior of all elected US officials for the last 217 years.

The Congress has not been as partisan as it is today since reconstruction.

Also, both parties have spent the last 20 years eliminating dissenters from their ranks.

The Tea Party contention that Republicans aren't partisan enough is utterly and provably false. Also, when you look at the rankings, there are no Republicans mixed in with Democrats. No crossover whatsoever. No RINOs and no DINOs.

So it seems. From the now defunct LGF Dictionary (Google Cache)

Comment #17 - Something mysterious and forbidden; a secret you're not supposed to know. Derives from an incident on a thread (please email me the link if you know which thread) in which Charles himself made a comment (originally #17 on the thread) that was so over-the-top that he not only immediately deleted it, but he expunged any trace of it -- all subsequent comments moved down a notch and were renumbered. No one seems to remember what comment #17 said, and when later asked, Charles famously remarked, "Do not mention Comment #17." Eventually that remark become one of LGF's rotating titles and part of legend.

Republicans voted for this person!

Comedian Eddie Izzard pressed her on just how far she would take her anti-lying beliefs. Izzard asked O'Donnell whether or not she would lie to Nazis who showed up at her door during WWII and demanded to know if she were hiding any Jewish people in her house. O'Donnell refused to even entertain the notion of concealing the truth from Nazis in that scenario because "you never have to practice deception":

O'DONNELL: A lie, whether it be a lie or an exaggeration, is disrespect to whoever you're exaggerating or lying to, because it's not respecting reality.

MAHER: Quite the opposite, it can be respect.

IZZARD: What if someone comes to you in the middle of the Second World War and says, 'do you have any Jewish people in your house?' and you do have them. That would be a lie. That would be disrespectful to Hitler.

O'DONNELL: I believe if I were in that situation, God would provide a way to do the right thing righteously. I believe that!

MAHER: God is not there. Hitler's there and you're there.

O'DONNELL: You never have to practice deception. God always provides a way out.

It links to the crazy multi-colored website of Barbara Ricci! Who ever the heck that is.

What is it about crazy people and color design?

The gold standard:
[Link: www.timecube.com...]

This has semi-recently been redesigned. It used to be much more Time Cube-ish, but the crazy is still in the text.
[Link: www.av1611.org...]

Before there was the Internet, however, a truly magnificent kook (or, to be politically correct, "differently-sane person") named Francis E. Dec used to distribute his hand-written and typed volumes the old-fashioned way. I know that if he were around today, his website would be a giant wall of text in 19 different font sizes, using 256 different colors, and would have at least 5 animated and/or flashing gifs as a background.

There's another person who creates equally insane content, but uses the more up-to-date medium of video rather than old-style plain text HTML. He's the magnificent Perry Logan, and he's either a genuinely insane crackpot Democrat, or he's a crackpot Democrat who is also the world's most talented performance artist. Either way, I usually find his stuff quite entertaining.

Examples:

Barack Obama is a Neo-con

Alex Jones is a Bucket of Feces

The lack of good judgement that some of these Tea Party members are showing, both at the state level and personally, is challenging to say the least.

O'Donnell is the results of a lack of good judgement, a mistake brought on by feelings and emotions and not by a realization that there are two sides to the coin in this game, the ability to energize the base, and selecting a electable candidate.

O'Donnell is not electable. Dan Maes in Colorado is not electable. The Tea Party experience is new, they are making some mistakes, and hopefully they will learn from their mistakes.

re: #89 Charles

Somebody should ask her if she masturbates.

I think from this text of one of her essays, she simply gets it on without worrying about that whole "marriage" thang:

"Yes, I am a Christian. Yes, I do seek to surrender my entire life to the will of our Father. That is precisely why I don't talk about abstinence or secondary virginity when I am asked to speak about sex. Abstinence is a physical discipline, not a calling. It makes our physical condition the goal.

As Christians, virginity is not even our goal. Purity and holiness are our calling in Christ. In Philippians 3:14 when the apostle Paul urges us to "press toward the goal" he is not calling us to push the limits as long as we don't cross the line. He continues to assure us that it is a prize, a great reward, to live as Christ calls us to live.

I don't like the term "secondary virginity" because it, too, makes virginity the goal and seems to classify certain people as second-rate Christians. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new." It does not say "all things except our virginity." When Christ heals people from cancer, there is no doubt that the physical body has been restored. Yet sometimes our own shame can cause us to doubt His ability to restore our purity. Christ promises to cleanse us from all of our sins. "

Some heavy rationalization in there. Especially that last line.

re: #234 Killgore Trout

Rove helped create the Tea Party, thinking he could control and manipulate them, but he lost control and now he's in a balancing act of calling for reason (keeping the majority of Republicans from abandoning the party) and encouraging the vile anti-Obama rhetoric that helped build the Tea Party in the first place.

You just wish you were right.

Hell, I don't wish anything, because I watched it happen with the far-Left back in '04 & '06. They viewed Kerry in '04 like the far-Right viewed McCain in '08, namely a compromise candidate that pleased nobody and pissed too many folks off. But even then, they were absolutely sure that Bush was so hated, that the election was all but won. So when they failed, half screamed "voter fraud!," while the other half started telling themselves that it wasn't that they were too far to the Left, but rather that they weren't far enough.

So, come '06, they ran guys like "Red Ned" Lamont and other far-Left wackos in a few spots, but overall ran Blue Dogs. And even then, when numerous races were won by Blue Dogs, those far-Left nuts who lost were not seen as failures, but rather as "proof" that the election was "rigged." I lost track of how many swore up and down that elections they'd won were "rigged" because the margins were too narrow to be a coincidence.

Rove rightfully criticized the nomination of a lunatic for a national GOP election.

Rove is a master manipulator. Some soft criticism when he knows it won't make any difference (by September, 2008, everyone knew McCain was toast), and at the same time playing conservative spokesman. He does nothing without thinking about how it will play from every angle.

His criticism of O'Donnell is also calculated. By throwing that unelectable woman under the bus, he validates people who are still thinking they should vote for Rand Paul, or Miller, or Angle...because they're not as crazy as SHE is...

They haven't learned to take constructive criticism, which is a skill Rove tries to teach. His decision to move against O'Donnell is a calculation:

He's calculating that even if O'Donnell were to win she'd be uncontrollable, since she's too sure of herself to listen to others. He feels (correctly) that such a person would not be an asset to the party, and that their loss might teach her backers some humility. That last, sadly, is unlikely.

Rove helped to create this monster by setting a poisonous tone in the national political discourse. It's not shocking that they're attacking him now.

What, you have a hump that keeps moving from side to side?

The scene that sticks in my mind -
When Igor picks up Frankenstein, and says, "Walk this way". and Frankenstein starts following him, and Igor stops and says, "No, no! Walk this way!", and isn't happy until everybody is walking with a limp. I don't know why, but I love that!

You just described Sister Sarah. Maybe they think she's not going to run and is just going to keep cashing in? Or the gloves will come off when she finally declares? (Reagan's b-day 2/6 my guess)

Not really. Communism engendered artificial famines and mass murder. British Colonialism didn't involve drawing up lists of 'class enemies to murder.

That having been said, the anti-colonialists in Kenya did have legitimate grievances. Land allocation had been grossly unfair, and the way the economy was run by whites and Indians did sting. But communism was not the answer. It only lead to things getting even worse.

I know that. However, D'Souza (and, by extension, Newt) are assigning the father's philosophy to the son, despite all evidence pointing to the two barely knowing each other at all.

D'Souza's racist drivel wasn't worth the time it took to read it, and that anyone is giving it any credence at all rather than just calling the guy a blatant racist tool just blows my mind. The same assholes who spent the previous eight years saying that all criticism of the President is treason are now calling the current President an "other" who isn't even American, and they're ascribing his foreign policy to beliefs that his father held, even though the two men only met once or twice at all.

re: #61 Targetpractice, Worst of Both Worlds

When the far-Left made similar noises and grumblings, I just laughed it off. What were they gonna do? Refuse to shower? Threaten to wear even more patchouli oil? Have a drum circle outside my window at night?

But when I hear the far-Right making similar noises and grumblings, I can't help but notice they're accompanied by the scents of gun oil and gun powder. With the way they're working themselves into a frenzy, expecting Election Day to be the icing on the cake, I worry that anything less than total victory is gonna spawn more than a little violence.

Won't happen. The Democrats can give themselves their usual 0.3 percent extra when it comes time for a recount. We're inured to it. Apart from Bush-Gore, this has become standard. But they cannot, and would not, give themselves an extra 3 percent.

Absent conclusive and widely recognized proof of widespread and outrageously brazen cheating, there's just no case for throwing a fit when you lose. Conservatives, after all, believe in winning and losing. They're the ones who snort at giving everyone a trophy. Who bridle at throwing out scores and test results so as to adjust the results to fit desires, rather than accepting a reality: somebody won, somebody lost.

When a conservative loses, even if it's a close thing [e.g. most recently NH], he just phones the winner and congratulates him (or her, in this case) and that's that.

The losers in these races will concede, and they will tell the public that the reason they lost is that the other guy got more votes. That will take all the air out of the sails of the overconfident-before-the-event, and incredulous after-the-event, crowd.

Whoa, whoa, stop right there, you are way off message!

Chicago is the most corrupt political state EVAR! Read it, Learn it, Quote it!

Uh, Chicago is not a state. A state of mind maybe, but not a state.

re: #386 Decatur Deb

We should be hearing from Reine soon.

Exactly my thought when I read ausador's post. However, New Jersey can give Louisiana a run for it smoney when it comes to corruption.

I live in Ohio, which has a huge amount of graft and corruption but nothing like NJ, LA, NY, IL, etc.

.... All the city's people found within the walls of the city of Delhi when our troops entered were bayoneted on the spot, and the number was considerable, as you may suppose, when I tell you that in some houses forty and fifty people were hiding. These were not mutineers but residents of the city, who trusted to our well-known mild rule for pardon. I am glad to say they were disappointed.

re: #407 ClaudeMonet

Why a duck? Why not a chicken?

Because a duck floats in water and a chicken doesn't. So if you used a chicken it wouldn't show that she's a witch because chickens don't float.

Isn't logic fun?
