The Christine O’Donnell-William Burroughs Convergence

Wingnuts • Views: 3,540

It turns out Christine O’Donnell is no crazier than Hunter S. Thompson: Christine O’Donnell, Queen of Modern Literature.

For more than a week now, much of America has been mocking the Delaware GOP Senate candidate as a Bible-thumping ignoramus. Yes, she’s said some nutty things — enough to call her a sideshow freak — but it’s a thin line between madness and genius. When you compare her oeuvre to the modern canon of English letters, you might even realize she’s no crazier than some of our most beloved wordsmiths.

First we have Shakespalin, and now we’ve got a masturbating Hunter S Thompson who used to fuck on bloody altars?

What next?

Is there any evidence that her witchcraft was anything other than having a Ouija board scream when she tried to burn it?

Thank you for correcting me, my apologies…I forgot she’s anti-masturbation…must have been the goat head she had her legs wrapped around that confused me.

She says something about blood on an altar. It’s possible that some asshole high school kid gutted a rat or something on an ‘altar’. It’s also possible that her gullible high-school-aged self believed the crap her ‘high priestess’ girlfriend (also aged sixteen) told her, and there was no actual blood.

she probably tried burning a “My pet monster” and thought it was demon possessed when it wouldn’t burn but never noticed the tag saying “Fire resistant”.

True, but this kind of kid-stuff dark-arts crap does get ‘dabbled into’ by some high school kids. Ouija-board type fooling around, sitting in graveyards.

Man, I’m going nuts trying to set up a wireless network with an Airport Extreme master and two Airport Express stations. It worked fine with just one Airport Express in ‘Extend a wireless network’ mode - my mistake was thinking I could just add a second Express easily to extend the network into an upstairs area with poor connectivity.

Anyone out there have any experience with an Airport Extreme connected to a cable modem with Ethernet, and more than one Airport Express wireless extenders?

Right now, after messing with it most of the afternoon, I have the Airport Utility recognizing both Expresses, but I couldn’t set both in ‘Extend’ mode - I had to set one in ‘Extend’ mode and the other in ‘Join a wireless network’ mode. They’re all showing up, but I’m not sure I’m actually doing things the best way.

Furnishings for the mass…

—-

IN THE EAST , that is, in the direction of Boleskine, which is situated on the South-Eastern shore of Loch Ness in Scotland, two miles east of Foyers, is a shrine or High Altar. Its dimensions should be 7 feet in length, 3 feet in breadth, 44 inches in height. It should be covered with a crimson altar-cloth, on which may be embroidered fleur-de-lys in gold, or a sunblaze, or other suitable emblem. [On the Altar are placed the Priest’s Robe and Crown.]

On each side of it should be a pillar or obelisk , with countercharges in black and white.

Below it should be the dais of three steps , in black and white squares.

Above it is the super-altar , at whose top is the Stèle of Revealing in reproduction, with four candles on each side of it. Below the stèle is a place for The Book of the Law , with six candles on each side of it. Below this again is the Holy Graal , with roses on each side of it. There is room in front of the Cup for the Paten . On each side beyond the roses are two great candles . [NOTE]

All this is enclosed within a great Veil.

Forming the apex of an equilateral triangle whose base is a line drawn between the pillars, is a small black square altar, of superimposed cubes.

Taking this altar as the middle of the base of a similar and equal triangle, at the apex of this second triangle is a small circular font.

Repeating, the apex of a third triangle is an upright coffin, or Tomb.

My best friend told me today that Feingold in down double digits. It looks like both Illinois and Wisconsin will see a Democratic Senate seat go Republican this fall.

re: #63 rwmofo

Does anyone else think it’s downright comical to witness the infatuation the media/left has for Christine O’Donnell while a much bigger story ought to be the stampede of independent voters heading right? The media/democrat party is serving up the House of Representatives to the Republicans on a silver platter, but we should pay attention to one race? This is hilarious!

Did you see the Gallup poll? It doesn’t appear the independent voters are stampeding to the right

gallup.com

Gallup’s generic ballot for the week of Sept. 13-19 shows a 46% Democratic and 45% Republican split in registered voters’ preferences for the midterm congressional elections. It is the second week out of the last three in which the two parties have been virtually tied.

…..marking a shift after five consecutive weeks in which the Republicans held the advantage.

I also like to look @ the members of LGF. There have been many sane Republican voters here expressing their frustration and willingness not to vote for the crazy.

I always felt that right-track/wrong-track polls are worthless because there isn’t anything really useful you can glean from them other than “people are pissed” or “people aren’t very pissed”. That’s not terribly useful. I mean, it doesn’t exactly suggest any kind of preference, or well… anything.

It’s a full moon on an Indiana night
The air is warm and I’m feeling alright
Now It’s time to go
On a Hoosier night
On a full moon over an Indiana night
Some times you gotta be bad
Some times you gotta be good
Living the high life in the Valley
And some times hanging in the hood
But it’s a full moon in Indiana tonight

The sky is dark
mostly a blue hue
A perfect night in Indiana
Dressed in milky blues
Sometimes life slaps you down
Like In a big street fight
Other times it shines light on you
On a warm autumn night..

Cruising in Indiana…
With the top put down
Wind blowing through my hair.
Yea I’m Oklahoma Bound
Cruising in Indiana…Headed way down South
Full moon above me..
On a Indiana Night
On a Indiana night
Full Moon..
Indiana night
Full moon
Indiana Night!

Newt’s got serious problems but he did play a cardinal role in balancing the budget. The later failure of the GOP to continue to contain spending was the produce of getting to comfortable and the leadership’s refusal to take unpleasant but needed actions (such as vetoing a bill, in GWB’s case).

No - waste is spending on programs that do not work versus spending on ones that do.

I hope you are not still talking about “this” guy.

We do not fund hospitals enough - especially mental hospitals. This small government conservative feels that the role of governments is to absolutely protect and care for those who cannot do so for themselves.
How am I wrong to think that many of our insuffucient funding problems are due to pet projects being funded that do no good and only harm by directing funds away from where they are needed?

re: #225 WindUpBird

Ok, I better understand.

Look, I am a conservative - and I think in the true sense of the word.

Each person should be free to live their own lives as long as it does not harm or endanger another.

Gays should be free to marry - hell, I know a wedding I would go to right now for one of my dearest friends.

I also believe that the mentally ill, physically impaired and youth should be protected, nurtured and helped by our government.

I also believe that there can be a balance between spending and taxing. I just want some common sense. Efficiency.

I want the government out of private life - period. I really am a conservative champion for many things you speak of. Please do not lump me in with the braindead.

payed off the unions - by ignoring them and not giving them a damn thing

terrorized the banks - by giving them billions of dollars

I don’t know about Dark but I want the dems punished. In 2006 I wanted the republicans punished because they couldn’t keep it (our wallet) in their pants. Now I want the dems punished because they somehow took their election victory against deficits and spending and turned it into sign from god that their mission was to make George Bush, who grew the fed govt by 104%, look like a cheap bastard.

I laughed my butt off when Scott Brown won. I want Angle to win for the sheer comedy factor. I have no idea where the hell O’Donnell came from but the witch thing kind of turns me on. I want dems to take a beating like they owe me money. I started practicing the victory jig a year ago.

The GOP is going off the rails (a fact chronicled here daily) and you’re dancing a jig for them? Great!

Better enjoy that dance now. Because as the gop transforms itself into the White Christian Party, in a nation becoming less white (and even a little less Christian) every day, there won’t be any enduring gop majority. You can rally and dance all you want, but you can’t change demographics or population trends.

re: #300 Dark_Falcon

My turn to ask a question: How do you figure?

How do I figure what, Dark?

We may actually be really out of the woods from this recession, and able to cut spending. But we still shouldn’t; we should be launching a Manhattan-project level of spending on alternative energy.

We should certainly cut spending on crap that is useless. That is always good. But we need to spend a shitload, right now, on alternative energy. Or we will be surpassed by that in China— and that’s the best-case scenario. The worst is AGW, unmitigated, wreaking havoc with our food supply.

re: #283 Obdicut

If you stop spending now, what will happen is another recession, just like when government spending was restricted after the recovery started from the Great Depression.

Image: 20081117-ef7d74m2gnw9citedndea81xqh.jpg

That’s a good theory and one that would be easy to argue except we have the evidence of roughly a trillion dollars in spending (almost 10x the amounts in that graph) in front of us and it hasn’t been any help to the economy. It’s possible, just possible, that all that spending boosted our economy by a percentage point but I don’t really see that as money well spent. Toss in all the unintended consequences of the cash for clunkers, the housing tax cut, as a matter-of-fact ALL of housing programs failed, and it’s not a pretty picture.

It’s also possible that her gullible high-school-aged self believed the crap her ‘high priestess’ girlfriend (also aged sixteen) told her, and there was no actual blood.

Ha! When we were kids we used to play a game called witchie-poo. Take all the crap you can find under the sink in the kitchen or on our parents bathroom shelf and mix it in a bucket or big pot…bonus poiunts if you can get it to boil, change colors, sponteneously combust, or smoke. Fund-raiser: Jesse Jackson Jr. behind $6M Senate-seat scheme

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. directed a major political fund-raiser to offer former Gov. Rod Blagojevich millions of dollars in campaign cash in return for an appointment to the U.S. Senate, sources said the fund-raiser has told federal authorities.

The allegation by Oak Brook businessman Raghuveer Nayak counters public statements made as recently as last week by Jackson that he never authorized any deal to attempt to buy the Senate seat.

Nayak also told authorities he paid for two airline trips for a “social acquaintance” of the Democratic congressman at Jackson’s request, raising more potential ethical and political problems for Jackson.

The FBI interviewed that acquaintance — a Washington, D.C., restaurant hostess named Giovana Huidobro — about a year ago as part of its corruption probe of Blagojevich. Authorities were trying to determine whether Jackson had asked Nayak to offer Blagojevich campaign cash in exchange for the then-governor appointing Jackson to the seat once held by President Obama, according to sources with knowledge of the probe.

I did explain the inevitable. Increased spending didn’t accomplish anything in any market other than paying out bankers and the afl-cio. Toss in a bunch of money into the auto market (Cash for clunkers) and everyone who is thinking about a new car jumps in and buys one…..then no one needs or wants any for the next year. GM paid off part of its debt by taking more money from us and giving it back and now they’re trying to sell their crappy stock we freaking own at a major loss. Repeat plan (toss in money) for housing market and we have a record month last month in home foreclosures. Pass HCR which was supposed to lower health care costs and find out that isn’t working either.

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt in believing these consequences are “unintended”. Are you saying this was the whole plan and we should reward them with even more power and seats?

We’re swimming in red ink and the kind of taxes needed for big projects would just induce a double-dip recession. We don’t have the money+will needed to fund a massive undertaking. It’s not just the money/tax issue, most people don’t believe that the federal government can manage such a program effectively.

From wiki

Rickrolling is an Internet meme[1][2] typically involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up”. The meme is a bait and switch: a person provides a hyperlink that they claim is relevant to the topic at hand, but the link actually takes the user to the Astley video. The link can be masked or obfuscated in some manner so that the user cannot determine the true destination of the link without clicking. When a person clicks on the link and is led to the web page, he or she is said to have been “rickrolled”. Rickrolling has extended beyond web links to playing the video or song disruptively in other situations, including public places;[2] this culminated when Astley and the song made a surprise appearance in the 2008 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,[1] a televised event with tens of millions of viewers.

re: #265 RogueOne

I think it’s hilarious that the republican establishment got the crap kicked out of them during the primaries. To see Rove up there talking about what a disaster this all is? HA-Freaking-HA.

Are you going to argue that somehow it could possibly be worse? At this rate I’m just hoping they stop spending us into oblivion. I’ll gladly argue abortion, the 2nd amendment, drug laws, and wiccan theory when the unemployment rate drops below say 7%.

Rove’s right. Tea partiers hurt long run. The party was beginning to make inroads with minorities, particularly the Hispanics necessary for winning in the next generation. That’s over. The GOP can kiss the Hispanic vote goodbye almost to the same extent they’ve given up on the black vote.

But yes, the gop can take advantage of crappy econ conditions and get lots of protest votes, for now. But they’re on a crazy train and their base is shrinking…doesn’t add up over the long haul.

re: #310 RogueOne

That’s a good theory and one that would be easy to argue except we have the evidence of roughly a trillion dollars in spending (almost 10x the amounts in that graph) in front of us and it hasn’t been any help to the economy. It’s possible, just possible, that all that spending boosted our economy by a percentage point but I don’t really see that as money well spent. Toss in all the unintended consequences of the cash for clunkers, the housing tax cut, as a matter-of-fact ALL of housing programs failed, and it’s not a pretty picture.

Wasn’t almost 40% of that “trillion dollars in spending” actually tax cuts?

re: #344 RogueOne

Headline of the 1st article:

Economists See a Limited Boost From Stimulus

or…it was delay of the inevitable which is what I just said. I find it shocking that you think a trillion dollars is a good deal for a 4% increase in unemployment, home foreclosures at a record high, losing a few billion in the GM IPO, and the list goes on… I don’t think any of this is surprising. Maybe “unexpected” since we’ve heard that in the press it seams for the entire last year. “unexpectedly bad” has been the constant meme.

Geez, talk about bad math: unemployment was 8% when Obama took over; now it’s 9.6%. Where does a FOUR fit in there?
