Notice the 10th second of the video clip. The impression is that a Hagia Sophia-style mega mosque will be built on top of the ruins of the WTC.

Right here:

After the Muslims conquered Jerusalem, they built a victory mosque.

And after they conquered Cordoba, they built a victory mosque.

And after they conquered Constantinople they built a victory mosque.

And now, they want to build a mosque by Ground Zero.

And Obama Supports it!

Where does Congressman Bob Etheridge stand?

He won’t say. Won’t speak out. Won’t take a stand.

The terrorists haven’t won and we should tell them in plain English, No. There will never be a mosque at Ground Zero.

Renee Ellmers is in a tight race with Congressman Bob Etheridge.

After the Christians conquered Jerusalem, the Christians massacred Jews and Muslims and sacked the city.

And after they conquered Cordoba, they built a victory mosque.

After the Christians conquered Cordoba, they forced Muslims to convert or die. Later, they had a bunch of auto-da-fe’s there and burned lots of Jews and Muslims who had converted, but were suspected of being insincere.
And after they conquered Constantinople they built a victory mosque.

I am getting really sick and tired of this Christian rewriting of history where they’re the good guys and Muslims are the bad guys.

I posted this on Frum Forum earlier…

I’ll sign your petition to prevent the “Ground Zero Mosque” if you start an effort to get rid of the “gentleman’s club”, the OTB parlor and the OTHER mosque. What could be more respectful to the Hallowed Ground concept than a quick trip to bet on a favorite. After a hard day of construction work, a lap dance.

She also “slams” Moslems for building Victory mosques after retaking Jerusalem conveniently forgetting that…

When the Crusaders entered Jerusalem the went on an indiscriminate killing spree killing Moslems, Jews and Christians. Contemporary reports said the streets were red with blood. When Suleman retook Jerusalem he let the captives go after they paid a ransom. Suleman paid the ransoms of those who could afford it.

On her website she says this:

Only in Washington, and only in the Obama administration, is building mosques seen as a way to defeat Islamic fundamentalists who strap dynamite to their bodies and climb onto airplanes to blow up ‘their enemies.’

The President is wrong. His support for building a mosque at Ground Zero will be seen by our enemies as a sign of weakness. He should simply have told the mosque-builders, No, you’re wrong. And stopped it.

I guess she’d like the President to have more powers than he does now.

re: #13 Ojoe

That’s inaccurate, the building was constructed in 532-537. It was already there.

The Hagia Sophia was originally built as a church by Justinian I, but it was converted by the Muslim invaders into a mosque after the fall of the Eastern Roman Empire in 1453. That included removing Christian iconography and the construction of the minarets at the corners of the facility.

The building was turned into a museum in 1935 and it remains one of the best and largest examples of dome on pendentive form in the world; enabling the square form to translate into the circular form above.

Yeah I was 99% positive of that but my knowledge of the crusades era is fuzzy. Knew about the mistreatment of Protestants and of Catholics once Protestants got in power. Whole thing ot me is why I am thankful every day that we have the freedom to worship or not to worship in any way we please.

What did you expect? The church basically said go kill, rape and pillage and you’ll be forgiven of all your sins and be assured to go to heaven. Not unlike the jihadis who are told to blow themselves up in the name of Allah and that they, too, will go to heaven. This is one of the reasons I loved the Dante’s Inferno game on X-box it pointed out the hypocrisy inherent in the crusades.

Funny thing is that the muslims treated christians and jews in the holy land much better than the so-called christians treated the jews and muslims during the crusades.

Yep, she’s been using “lamestream” media to describe the media for a year now. It’s totally well lame because it’s all she says. There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

i think what people need to remember.. all the things that people hate about facebook and twitter (friending people you barely know, twittering about taking a shower/doing your hair, etc) you yourself are NOT obligated to do that. you can use it intelligently and effectively, much the same way Charles uses Twitter.

Facebook can be effectively used for arranging group meetings, finding people in your class, or hell… an alternative to emailing your parents/relatives.

I say this: sign up, try it out, forget it if you don’t like it. but dont bash it til you tried it. that’s what i tell my very negative pessimistic parents…they still have yet to listen to me, actually.

Well I do use to keep in touch with family that are spread around all over the place. It’s nice for that. I’ve moved a lot so I find it good to keep somewhat in touch with some friends. Like for instance this morning a good friend I haven’t seen in years saw me on and said he was coming to my neck of the woods and lets get together. That part is cool. I did avoid it for a long time and don’t post much myself but it has because at least for my extended family a bit of an info hub that keeps people in touch of things that are going on and what people are up too.

Ellmer’s sez,

President Obama has announced he is going to close Guantanamo Bay Prison and bring the terrorists there – like 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed – to New York to stand trial in civilian courts, giving them their ‘Constitutional Rights.’

Congressman Bob Etheridge voted to support the President and close Guantanamo Bay.

However:

Bob Etheridge voted yes on H R 2346: Supplemental Appropriations, Fy 2009. This included the prohibition of funds to be used for the closure of Guantanamo.

Prohibits funds from being used to transfer a prisoner detained at the Naval Station in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to the U.S., unless the prisoner is being transferred for the purposes of prosecution or detainment during legal proceedings and the President has submitted a plan to Congress that includes the following (Sec. 14103)

Then in 2010:

In December 2009, the administration announced that it would ask Congress to appropriate money to purchase the Thomson Correctional Center in northwest Illinois to house Gitmo detainees. The plan took a blow, however, in May 2010, when the House Armed Services Committee inserted language into the 2011 defense bill which specifically prohibits the use of funds to purchase or modify any U.S. facility for Gitmo prisoners. The measure was adopted by the full House on May 28, 2010 in a 282-131 vote. The Senate Armed Services Committee adopted a similar proposal on May 28, 2810. The two proposals have yet to become law, however. In June, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich announced that the administration plans to go ahead with the purchase of the facility for regular domestic federal prisoners.

and:

House votes to prohibit moving Gitmo detainees
Setback to Obama plans for Illinois prison

May 30, 2010|By Katherine Skiba, Tribune reporter

WASHINGTON — — On the eve of its Memorial Day recess, the House of Representatives dealt a setback Friday to the Obama administration bid to close the detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and send terror suspects to a prison in northwest Illinois.

Lawmakers adopted a measure to bar the use of funds in the National Defense Reauthorization Act to transfer or release terror suspects from Guantanamo. The vote was 282-131, with Democrats split.

Obama vowed to close Guantanamo within a year of taking office, but has missed the deadline. Last fall the administration unveiled a plan to move some terror suspects from Cuba to an underused prison in Thomson, Ill.

This was House Vote #335 (May 28, 2010) where again Etheridge voted yes.

Also couldn’t find any comment by Etheridge regarding Guantanamo on both his Congressional site and campaign site.

I’ve tried showing my Mom some of the games I’ve played that I would think she would like but no, just to damn complicated to figure out. Plus she really likes the social aspect of the FB games.

Please tell me you won’t close the Dakota Roadhouse. I liked that place, and the bartender was cute.

There’s a question of ends vs. means here.

That is, jihadis intend to impose a Muslim theocracy through the use of force. But, non-violent Muslims can impose a Muslim theocracy through democratic means.

A real question remain, how many non-violent Muslims living in liberal, pluralistic, democratic countries believe it is their duty to create a Muslim theocracy?

If the answer is “many” or “most,” then there is a real problem as these Muslims will, if they have the numbers, threaten the freedoms that many of us consider essential to a good life.

But is there any reason at all to suspect that the average muslim in America wants to create a muslim theocracy? Because frankly, people worried about a ‘muslim takeover’ seem to be rather selective in their concerns: if America becomes a theocracy, no way in hell is it going to be anything but a christian theocracy. I like demonizing others as much as anyone, but constantly holding muslims apart and treating them as a potential threat seems counterproductive to the goal of a peaceful America.

If non-violent Muslims living in this liberal, pluralistic, democratic country had the numbers and the desire to “impose” a Muslim theocracy through democratic means, would they not be exercising the very freedoms we consider essential? Of course, this would no longer be a liberal, pluralistic, democratic country after that, but if it’s done by democratic means, can it really be called an “imposition”?

By the way, I hardly consider that a “real question” in the sense that it might actually take place in the next 500 years.
