Mr. Ahmadinejad Performs

World • Views: 3,568

Right on cue, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spewed the expected crazy talk in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, leading to the expected walkout by the US and other Western delegates.

The United States led an enraged Western walkout after Ahmadinejad’s comments on the Al-Qaeda attack on the World Trade Center, which was just four miles (six kilometers) from the UN headquarters. European Union delegations quickly followed and Canada boycotted the speech even before it started.

The Iranian president said there was a theory that “some segments within the US government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East, in order also to save the Zionist regime.

“The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this view,” he declared to the astonished chamber.

Canada boycotted the speech even before it started.

That sounds like the smart approach, although some commotion from lots of people walking out has its appeal too.

I haven't read a single right wing blog praising Ahmadinejad.
Kudos to the wingnuts: this is a rare instance where the wingnuts were actually less crazy that the moonbats were under the Bush Regime when they'd praise Ahmadinejad and Chavez for their brilliant brave speeches.

Their wingnut conspiracy theories are just as insane as our right wing conspiracy theories.

I like Truman's ideas on this sort of thing...

If only there were a way for their crazies and our crazies to get together somewhere and do to each other what they crave to do anyway, for "God and country" while leaving civilized people out of it.

Honestly though, I think a confrontation with Iran is becoming inevitable.

Sulking. Charles didn't do it right.

That said, I personally like the getting-up-and-walking-out thing, although frankly, at this point it's getting repetitious. Canada may have the right idea.

Also, he falls into the classic trap that every Troofer falls into. He proclaims how incompetent the US Government is. How stupid and foolish. And yet this government somehow managed to pull off the worlds most complicated and elaborate inside job and nobody leaked a thing.

You have to pick a side, either the government is incompetent or a super-villain but you can't be both.

"The genius of you Americans is that you never make clear-cut stupid moves, only very complicated ones that make us wonder at the possibility that there may be something to them we are missing." - Nasser

The sixth graders are in trouble with, basically, everyone.

Their Spanish teacher told them off today, and kept them in an extra 20 minutes at lunch, and is making them write a 300-word essay on the important of obedience, and of learning a foreign language.

They thought I was going to give them extra recess to make up for this.

BOY did they have another think coming.

Ah Ahmadinejad such a nutcase. My senior year of high school when I took poli sci it was the 25th annivesary of the hostage crisis. The class met the former charges d'affaires of the embassy, Bruce Laingen. Real nice guy. If Ahmadinejad had been in power then like he is now, I would have asked about the rumors being true or not that Ahmadinejad was one of the hostage takers since I've heard conflicting stories from hostages. Either way the guy is probably the biggest nut in the global community i.e. his claim that there are no gays in his country or hosting a conference on Holocaust denial.

I'm experimenting with some new ads -- but here's a quick fix for Chrome. Go to:

Preferences->Under The Hood->Privacy->Content Settings

and click "Ask me when a site tries to set data". The next time you load LGF you'll see a whole bunch of prompts for the various cookies that need to be set for ads, web services, etc. etc., and just OK all of them. Chrome remembers them so you only have to do it once.

After you do this, any popups that might appear will only show up once in a 24-hour period.

Ohh well they can enjoy it. People like them are dead set on ruining America.

If there is an anti-science theocracy elected, then there is really no point. America is gone. Our most cornerstone liberties are gone.

Our economy will be shot.

Anti-intellectual fools don't get that a technological society needs a strong education base in science, mathematics and engineering if it is to stay competitive.

But most importantly, then America really is doomed to eventual mass starvation, loss of major cities, desertification over vast swaths, spread of contagion and collapse.

I frankly have no desire to see my grand kids having to fight for food and water or suffer under the draconian sort of tyranny that will follow from it.

It is not that Canada will be all that safe either - with amazingly well armed refugees coming in from the south. However, better to start out more north.

Me too. I hope to be able to subscribe in November. October is going to be extremely tight. Sales are down badly this month. Still, I'll find a way to get through it and October is looking quite good.

I had a sixth-grader point her finger across the classroom today and scream "You liar!!"

I told her we can't do that unless we're on the floor of the House of Representatives. She didn't get the reference, of course.

That must have been a real Mr. Garisson moment.

I think the right move with this monkey is to leave just as he starts talking, as if saying : "we don't care what you have to say".

BTW- the Swiss and Norwegian representatives stayed through the whole thing.

I noticed that Martinez used a "pinch-hitter" yesterday to write the post regarding Frum.

Agree. However, have you noticed that when personality conflicts have erupted here that certain individuals seem to be the ones continually getting involved?

The problem in running a public forum is to try and keep things from getting out of control. I continue to be amazed at how patient Charles has been towards certain posters.

If anyone thinks that these fuckers don't deserve a bomb, talk to me later.

It's not the bomb I'm worried about. It's the fallout, both physical and in the court of world opinion.

"Mr. President, are you aware that we have a significant number of military personnel in the country immediately to the east of the target?"

166 lanaty  Fri, Sep 24, 2010 9:47:38am

It's the third anniversary of ol' Mahmoud's visit to Columbia, and I was in the audience. I'm at UMich now, Bollinger's former university, and he's still my president. A reminder:

"Let me close with this comment. Frankly, and in all candor, Mr. President, I doubt that you will have the intellectual courage to answer these questions. But your avoiding them will in itself be meaningful to us. I do expect you to exhibit the fanatical mindset that characterizes so much of what you say and do. Fortunately, I am told by experts on your country, that this only further undermines your position in Iran with all the many good-hearted, intelligent citizens there. A year ago, I am reliably told, your preposterous and belligerent statements in this country (as in your meeting at the Council on Foreign Relations) so embarrassed sensible Iranian citizens that this led to your party’s defeat in the December mayoral elections. May this do that and more.

I am only a professor, who is also a university president, and today I feel all the weight of the modern civilized world yearning to express the revulsion at what you stand for. I only wish I could do better."

One more perhaps entertaining comment--Iranians love to call Ahmadinejad by his initials, A.N. "An" in Farsi means "shit".

Have a good day everyone!
