GOP Creationist Candidates Lose in Illinois

Politics • Views: 20,038

We have a piece of good news to report from the Illinois gubernatorial race, in which the creationist duo of Bill Brady and Jason Plummer were rejected by the voters.

As we noted last week, both Brady and his running mate are young earth creationists, in favor of teaching Biblical creationism alongside evolutionary science in public schools. Kudos to the voters of Illinois for saying no to ignorance.

It’s very cool to see people logging in and out. One thing I noticed immediately in testing this feature this morning is that a lot of people never bother to log out.

Guilty as charged. Does not logging out have an adverse affect of any kind on your equipment?

I took no joy in voting for the incumbent Democrat Quinn (Blago’s lieutenant), but the stupid needs to be stopped wherever possible. While I do not deny I am a registered Democrat and a proud liberal, the GOP could have EASILY had my vote here had they nominated someone who is both fiscally responsible AND socially moderate.

9 HappyWarrior  Sat, Nov 6, 2010 12:54:45pm

That’s good to hear. Have a good friend from Illinois and Brady seemed like bad news to me. Still no official result on the Connolly-Finian race here in Va-11 but it’s looking like Mr. Connolly may pull it out which would be great. He’s really helped out us students at the university. Finian is just another right wing hack.

It’s neither good nor bad - just something I noticed. Doesn’t hurt anything if you don’t log out - except maybe in work situations or where others can use your computer, I guess.

One thing it affects is the ‘Show Users’ feature, though — if people never log out, their name will still show in that list for about 30 minutes after they’re no longer actually browsing LGF. I had to use a timeout limit in that case because there’s no way to tell if they’re really still there.

I only “log out” (read: close my browser window) of LGF whenever I log out of whatever machine I’m on at work when I leave for the night or when I shut down my main desktop at home when I go to bed…otherwise, if I’m logged into Windows somewhere, LGF is up.

I resemble that. I pop up the tab every so often and take a look but I usually don’t post much, just read. Of course, changing between three machines all the time probably hashes that up a bit too. Is it a problem for your system?

Depends how long you’ve been doing something else with no LGF windows open. If your session has expired, but you set the Remember Me button (which uses a cookie), it will show you as logging in again at that time.

This bit about Quinn’s victory shows a rather sharp divide between the urban and the suburban & rural voters:

Three counties including cook county helped carry Quinn to victory.
Brady won the other 99.

Preparing for my first trip to Italy my agent booked me on Alitalia and made accomodations at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Rome, which I nixed, saying no way will I stay there because of the name. I wanted something non-american. She got me something else a few blocks away from the BH Hotel. My room was about the size of a prison cell. Shoulda stayed with the BHH which I later saw during my wanderings and regretted my decision.

There’s a difference between clicking the Spy button for an article (at lower right of the article) and the “LGF Master Spy” in the upper left login panel.

The Master Spy shows much more information — all comments in every thread, logins, new registrations, etc. The Spy for individual articles only shows the events for that article.

Yep, treat the butternut just like you would the pumpkin. It’s just another squash! Mr. w says it tastes more like what his grandmother used to make a whole lot of years ago. He theorizes that, since butternuts keep longer, she switched when the pumpkins ran out and never told anyone.

re: #8 bratwurst

I tried to get someone better nominated, and couldn’t. I did vote for Bill Brady, feeling that voting against the machine was the most important thing. I disagree that Brady losing was a good thing, since Illinois is now liable to suffer higher taxes and no real reform. But Brady had serious problems and they cost him the election. It’s worth noting that Mark Kirk (who is not a SoCon) did win election to the Senate in Illinois. So it looks like Illinois voters didn’t want a kook (Brady) nor a crook (Alexi Gianoullis). That’s not a bad thing, either.
