Keith Olbermann’s lost weekend will soon come to an end: Keith Olbermann To RETURN Tuesday, Phil Griffin Announces.

From Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC:

“After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night’s program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy. We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night.”

Well played MSNBC. Well played. Sincere as a porn star on the 4th take, but a win in the rating battles none the less.

It’s an old shock jock radio gimmick. They break into the boss’ office and steal the tickets to the big Aerosmith concert and give them away to the 100th caller and get suspended for a week of vacation.

More related than you may think:

Talkin’ Loud and Sayin’ Nothing

I also reiterate my earlier observation that if you can wiggle a D7 chord up and down the neck one or two frets in either direction, you can thereby play the entire James Brown repertoire.

just a little background
Early in 1997, Olbermann was suspended for two weeks after he made an unauthorized appearance on The Daily Show on Comedy Central with then-host and former ESPN colleague Craig Kilborn. At one point in the show, he referred to Bristol, Connecticut (ESPN’s headquarters), as a “‘Godforsaken place.”[28] Later that year, Olbermann abruptly left ESPN under a cloud of controversy, apparently burning his bridges with the network’s management;[29] this began a long and drawn-out feud between Olbermann and ESPN. Between 1997 and 2007, incidents between the two sides included Olbermann’s publishing an essay on Salon.com in November 2002, titled “Mea Culpa”, in which he stated: “I couldn’t handle the pressure of working in daily long-form television, and what was worse, I didn’t know I couldn’t handle it.”[30] The essay told of an instance when his former bosses remarked he had “too much backbone,” a claim that is literally true, as Olbermann has six lumbar vertebrae instead of the normal five.[30]

I have a new science thread up

[Link: littlegreenfootballs.com…]

Peter Sinclair has another great video. I think he is reading my mind with some of these posts.

The first person to really worry about AGW was Svante Arrhenius back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The fact that CO2 was a greenhouse gas was well established by 1896. Angstrom was another early pioneer of the theory back in the 1920s.

The basic ideas are quite easy to understand, and the science is quite firm.

An interesting fact is that we have a tremendous amount of beautiful and comprehensive data from the military. It is important to remember that very accurate temperature readings were routine and religiously taken from all over the world by the world’s navies.

In order to build an IR guided missile, of course, one must have very clear understanding of how atmospheric CO2 interacts with IR. In the 1950’s this was a very large area of research.

Of course, regular academic geology, biology, meteorology, and physics continued to advance on the problem as well.

Check out my post to read the rest.

My NANO novel takes place in England in the early 1200s.

Is NANO the contest to write a novel in one month? If so, you’re competing with Daughter One.

messager
telegraphiste
emissaire

some of those words have accents I can’t reproduce.

I try to think his attitude has changed since the Bush Derangement era, for some reason the most partisan of both sides seem to become more extreme when the other party is in power. I try to be optimistic.

Has Moulitsas ever apologized?

The Princess and her BFF (who is also the ying to her yang, or maybe the yang to her ying), are playing the letters game where they write a story together by having the protagonists write stories to each other.

Much to my surprise, The Princess’s princess has been poisoned and has gone in search of the anecdote rather than waiting to be saved.

Her BFF’s princess has accomplished nothing but flirting with princes.

Why?

a couple of years ago when the 3/5th came home I posted stories of the killing of terrorists in Fallujuh.. It was ugly….I sat on the beach in Oceanside and watched Marines with tears in their eyes as we drank beer…I know my son will live with those memories his whole life..
This is Why…I deeply wish I never had to post those stories..
With all my heart

Do you all think that the tea wingnut types would blink or get upset if it was pointed out that the author of the Pledge of Allegiance was a socialist?

Yeah that’s basically what the discussion is about. General talk about the general meme of purging all things ‘socialist’ sounding etc etc that’s going on and then someone quipped ‘Guess that means the Pledge will end up on the chopping block at some point’ (as a joke) and then some pondering about whether it would get so bad that something like that would even be possible.

The Freedom Fries thing was so ridiculous. I actually briefly worked in Congress in 2005 (I live near DC and my high school had a really cool poli sci program) Anyhow, there would be some days where I’d actually eat in the cafteria and this was uh 2 years or so after the Iraq War began and there promiently was freedom fries displayed on the menu. Fries weren’t bad that said but it was so stupid. I mean this was Congress not some business. It’s funny how societies as a whole react, and lash back towards perceived differences. When we wandered around as tribes for hundreds of thousands of years, we were conditioned to distrust others and be xenophobic. So really these people are just acting out on the lowest denominator of ignorance—the same logic can be applied to those who rape and commit murder.

They called dachshunds ‘dash hounds’, at the same time, and they became a very unpopular breed pretty much overnight. And German Shepherds, in England, were relabeled “Alsatian Wolf Dogs”.

Because people are IDIOTS.

Oh, yes, and they also, swear to God, referred to ‘liberty measles’.
