And Now, the New Improved Shrieking Harpy Rant Generator

Humor • Views: 32,476

Credit: Curious Lurker.A few days ago we linked to an LGF reader’s funny Pamela Geller Blog Generator. Well, the Geller parody is such a rich mine of comedic material that I couldn’t resist creating my own version. So without further ado, here’s the new LGF Shrieking Harpy Rant Generator, featuring automatic rants created with quotes from the Harpy herself and some of her ugly Photoshop illustrations. I tried to get the patented Geller mix of random capitalization, bright red words, sloppy typos, and egregious overuse of punctuation, although I did have to tone down the bigotry and hate speech a little (because it interfered with the funny).

I don't know how you did that, but mine was hilarious (and frighteningly convincing) and the graphic of Nancy Pelosi in a green fright wig was divine.

The question remains: could one automatically generate the rants of Beck and Limbaugh, or do they have more genuine originality/eloquence in some sick way? I mean, is there some REASON that Limbaugh makes $54 million a year, according to Newsweek--like, that he cannot be replicated by a machine?

Mine:

The OBAMUNISTS are at it again! This week your humble Atla exposed them plotting to destroy the precious free speech of patriotic anti-jihad bloggers with Christmas trees festooned with EVIL! The OBAMUNISTS may try to tell you otherwise, but these vile traitors are all a bunch of vile Nazi pigs! That's why we need more people like the hottie Geert Wilders and Filip DeWinter of Vlaams Belang, who are not fascists, as they find Obama's birth certificate ONCE AND FOR ALL and prove that he's not reallty the love child of Malcolm X!! (Update, I do not beieve Hussein is the child of Malcom X.)

It's true that if you do it many times, the rants become rather formulaic.

This could not, of course, have anything do do with the actual Geller style...

Reminiscing about past computer days.

Some buddys of mine had finished setting up their network prior to going out on float and were bragging about it. I said I could take them down in 10 minutes. They laughed and said it was on. They called back 2 hours later to find out what I had done.

They had never changed any of the names on the default admin accounts. I used their own systems web access for mail, used the account names and just kept typing in bad passwords till everything was locked out. Needless to say, they locked down all the accounts and set up new accounts with names only they knew.

USB has really made for some wonderful input-device pranks. It's pretty trivial to take a USB based embedded board and turn it into a fake mouse which just sends mouse-left signals at a constant rate. Most modern OSes will accept input from two mice at the same time, and since USB is hot pluggable, you just plug it in and it goes.

I've never heard of this guy before, much less watched a movie by him. I watched half of the trailer linked by Andrew Sullivan and had to stop it. I agreed with Sullivan: what's on this trailer shows you things that you knew perfectly well happened but could not actually imagine happening. That's why I couldn't keep watching it.

Is it "tasteless" to be that graphic? To force people to witness things really unimaginable? I'm not sure. I think it depends on why you are doing it, what end it serves.

I'm talking about the bunker below the Legion fort where you use the disk (after you get it from benny) to activate the robot army. There's one locked door I can't get into.

When you go down the stairs, there are three terminals to shutdown security, one for the turrets, one for the protectrons, one for the sentry bots. Well done!

I have to admit that since she went on her rant about the "secret" selling of halal meat in the U.S. my halal sandwiches taste a little bit better.

What's hilarious about her rant is that the other day, I noticed that the supermarket by my house sells halal chicken. The labels even have Arabic writing on them and everything. I'm amazed no one has contacted Pamz about this Muslim encroachment on the rights of non-halal poultry companies.

re: #78 elizajane

Is it "tasteless" to be that graphic? To force people to witness things really unimaginable? I'm not sure. I think it depends on why you are doing it, what end it serves.

For me it would largely depend upon where the profits of the film will go. If they go towards further education about the Holocaust and/or organizations that exist to monitor hate groups and/or warn of potential genocide, that would be one thing. If it was made purely for personal profit, then I have a serious problem with it.

I also find it deeply disturbing that certain people would undoubtedly enjoy watching something like that.

McCain's wife breaks with senator on military gay ban

Senior Republican Senator John McCain's wife Cindy has condemned the US military ban on gays serving openly - even as her husband battles efforts to lift or ease the widely unpopular restrictions.

In a new video for a campaign aimed at battling abuse of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) youth, Cindy McCain bluntly blames the policy for encouraging bullies to target such teens.

"Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future," she says in the video, which stars a range of actors, musicians, and other celebrities. "They can't serve our country openly."

Referring to bullies who target LGBT, Cindy McCain declares: "Our government treats the LGBT community like second class citizens - why shouldn't they?"

As tempting as this is, & as deserving as she or anyone like her may be of this sort of mockery, I would much rather see us devote our time to promoting the truth & not descending to their level.

Yeah, go ahead & down-ding me for being a party-pooper, but I really would like to see us take the high road.

It may not be the high road, but neither is it descending to their level, IMO. One is satire, the other is real hate with an agenda and the potential for real world consequences that could impact innocent people.

re: #170 researchok

My ex and I were in a large dept store. We ambled around a bit and got lost. My ex asks, where are the escalators? It just so happened I spied them off in the distance.

I said. 'They are over here'.

She replied, 'No they are not'.

'I'm looking at them!

'They are not there'.

I pointed them out. Needless to say, she was most upset.

At me.

Well you were not very supportive of her opinion.

Actually, I've been really lucky.

My ex is a great mom. She has done a great job with our daughter. Both of us have always been careful never to say anything bad about each other and as a result, our kid is happy and well adjusted. She knows she has two parents who love her.

I have to hand it to my ex. She really is terrific.

DULL VICTORY

in the week after the recent election, i noticed something strange about my usual wingnut correspondants: they weren't full of even more of theit typical vainglorious triumphalism than usual, as i expected. as a matter of fact, they seemed more beat than anything else. now, it seems, there is some quantification about post election attitudes that may explain this curious phenom. basically, it seems that the public is significantly less enthusiastic about 2010 than they were about 2008 and even 1994. overall, support for republicans after this election cycle seems to measure at 10 - 12% less than for republicans in 1994 and democrats in 2008:

While 40 percent do say they are pleased by the election outcome, that's a significantly smaller percentage than the 58 percent who were pleased following the 2006 midterm elections.

Despite their gains in last week's elections, Republicans are seen less favorably than Democrats overall. Forty-six percent of Americans have a favorable view of Democrats, matching the percentage who have an unfavorable view. The favorability rating for Republicans is 42 percent, with their unfavorable rating at 48 percent

But while most Americans want both President Obama and Congressional Republicans to work toward compromise on a range of issues, they are skeptical that compromise will come. And they blame the GOP: While 73 percent say Mr. Obama will try to work with Republicans, just 45 percent say Republicans will try to work with the president.

historic victory. Fewer people today say they are happy about the Republican victory, approve of the GOP’s plans for the future, and far fewer believe Republicans will be successful in getting their programs passed into law.

The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted Nov. 4-7 among 1,255 adults, finds 48% saying they are happy that the Republican Party won control of the House while 34% are unhappy. Four years ago, 60% said they were happy the Democrats won full control of Congress, compared with just 24% who were unhappy. That mirrored the public’s reaction in December 1994 to the GOP winning control of Congress for the first time in 40 years (57% happy vs. 31% unhappy).

In the current survey, 52% of those who said they voted in the Nov. 2 election were happy with the outcome compared with 42% of non-voters. Still, more voters in 2006 – 60% – said they were happy with the Democrats’ victory.

The public, voters and non-voters alike, has a subdued reaction to the Republican Party’s midterm election victory. Four years ago, the response to the Democrats regaining full control of Congress was far more positive, as it was in 1994 when the GOP won a The public has a mixed reaction to the Republican policies and plans for the future: 41% approve, while nearly as many (37%) disapprove. Approval is somewhat greater among voters (45%) than among non-voters (35%). But on balance, both the general public and voters express less positive views of the GOP’s policies than they did of the Democrats’ proposals after the 2006 election.
