Depressing.
Has a haunting element.
I agree. There are few things more depressing or creepier than an abandoned amusement park.
Heh, this really creeps me out. Not only and abandoned amusement park ride, but also an evil demented looking clown. *shudder*

well if you factor in 1. the game is rigged you can’t win & 2. the ride is way overpriced… then you have taught better than many schools.

We took our daughter to that park, when it first opened.
Honestly - it was a little bit creepy even then. Way out of town, surrounded by swamp-ish sort of land. And not particularly well-maintained and by the looks of it, not particularly well-attended. Very few folks were there, and it was a brand-new park!
But that video really is creepy, and sad.

I remember a “creepy story” comic book where a ride designer is worked to death by his boss wanting scarier and scarier rides. His ghost comes back and takes the boss on the scariest ride ever.
I remembered this comic when I saw this video. Was pretty much the same ride.
The bosses end was not pretty.

Wow. Sounds like good fodder for an urban legend about a haunted amusement park. The music in the video makes it even worse!
The park I wen to as a kid has been closed for decades. I just went to check Google street view and it’s completely gone now; just empty land & trees.
I haven’t been back to my hometown since I left around 12 years ago. Boy, oh, boy have things changed! I can barely recognize anything.

re: #45 albusteve
JJ spent how much on his stadium?…do you know?
Originally estimated to cost $650 million, the stadium’s current construction cost was $1.15 billion, making it one of the most expensive sports venues ever built. To aid Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones in paying the construction costs of the new stadium, Arlington voters approved the increase of the city’s sales tax by 0.5 percent, the hotel occupancy tax by 2 percent, and car rental tax by 5 percent. The City of Arlington provided over $325 million (including interest) in bonds as funding, and Jones covered any cost overruns. Also, the NFL provided the Cowboys with an additional $150 million, as per their policy for giving teams a certain lump sum of money for stadium financing.
And for their trouble, they got a team that apparently can’t football its way out of a wet paper bag. I’m completely apathetic about football, but just about the only damn thing people around here have talked about for weeks is what a horrible embarrassment the Dallas Cowboys currently are.
It’s laughable, because the city of Arlington has, hands down, the most gawd-awful traffic in the entire DFW metroplex (it’s about half the geographical size of Waco, but with 3 times the population), and every time a proposal for mass transit comes up, they vote it down like they were driving the devil out of a day care. Yet they have no problem taxing themselves to help a billionaire make more money.

been there….bottom line regardless of your bias….the building cost 1.15b, of which Jones paid over 840m out of pocket….the venue is world class and will support X number of jobs supporting gigs from truck races to the NCAA Finals, the Super Bowl and various other money making gigs….Arlington was on board from the beginning as were by far, most of the voters….piss elsewhere

Do not let you get this get you down on New Orleans or keep you from visiting this amazing city!
Yes, their mayor is an idiot, and the city is built in a ridiculous location, but it is the most unique city in America bar none. The food… the music… the French Quarter… I fell in love with the place on my first visit and I intend to go back at every opportunity. You do not need a theme park to appreciate New Orleans. It is not a sad ghost town… it’s a vibrant city that deserves our tourist dollars as it continues to rebuild. Go. Hear the blues, the jazz, the rock and roll. Get a Hurricane at Pat O’briens and enjoy the dueling pianos. Enjoy the art galleries, the restaurants. Visit Mardi Gras World.
I love New Orleans. It’s obvious, isn’t it?
